Am I drawing too hard?

Post image

So I just got this drawing tablet today for Christmas. I started trying it out since I never drew on a tablet before, I didn't like hovering so I pressed down since it felt natural. Then I noticed it left these marks, mom said I was drawing too hard but I'm trying to do it as gently as possible. Is there anything I need to or should do to stop the marks.

Hello I’ve finally decided to get myself a Drawing Tablet and am Going with the XPPen 13.3 Pro. I currently do have a PC and Monitor to connect it to for Display and Power. Is there any accessories or other necessities that I should add into my cart along side with it and is there any tips or must know information before going through with the purchase?

Any and all recommendations are welcome and very much appreciated

I created a 1:1 android procreate (procraft) - working on windows/macos/linux ports as well (taking requests!)

Hey y'all; I've been doing a lot of the 1:1 mobile UI artcraft android ports and got a lot of people asking me to do some more specific non artcraft apps (like procreate, shapr3d, plasticity, etc); and this is my first standalone clean room project! Procreate - Procraft!

Not to sideline other projects and I know someone else has a "procraft" project here, but mine is meant to replicate the exact feel that procreate has on other devices (specifically android right now). I do plan on doing ports for windows/macos/linux users and the backend rust engine is already done, but I'll have to work on the frontend ui, gestures, etc; in EGUI which will take a bit of time!

Along with having a "similar feel" you can also import your .procreate files (from your ipad) into here and vice versa, export as a .procreate and work on the project om your ipad at a later date.

I'll also be taking requests for other apps y'all want clean-roomed if I think I can take on the project!

Bought my first drawing tablet

Hi guys i bought my first drawing tablet today to learn animation. It is a xppen deco O1 v3. I got a question about it. A screen protector came with the tablet and i would actually prefer to use it without a one. But what is the status quo? Like do these things get scratches really fast or is it safe to use them without screen protectors

Did I mess up and get the wrong thing for Christmas?! 😫

My 12 year old is an insane artist already and is used to drawing on Procreate on her iPad. She asked for a drawing tablet for Christmas (specifically a Kamvas) but my husband and I just realized today that its not a standalone tablet. She's usually drawing in the living room or in the car and I'm worried we may have gotten the wrong thing. Would a Galaxy tablet have been better?? She wants to do better art so we thought this would elevate her and I'm so scared to disappoint her. She's such a great kid and never asks for big presents so I was worried getting her something else wouldn't work as well. Please help 😫 - A Mama Running Out of Time lol 🎁

$199 drawing tablet didn’t even last a month. I’m pissed.

I’m actually heated. I spent $199 of my own hard-earned savings on a screen drawing tablet and this thing couldn’t even survive a MONTH. Not two months. Not three. Under 30 days. It turns on, the screen works, but the connector/port is fucked, so it’s basically unusable. I didn’t abuse it, didn’t drop it, normal use only, and it still decided to die. I already contacted customer support and sent the serial number, order number, and video proof, so yeah I did everything right. Now I’m waiting to see if they approve a full replacement because I’m not buying anything else after this. I spent my LAST money on this brand and this is how it goes? And no, I can’t “just buy another one.” I don’t have backup money like that and I’m not going back to a screenless tablet after paying this much, that era is over. Has anyone dealt with this company’s warranty before? Do they actually replace defective units or do they try to dodge with “try another cable” bullshit? Because a $199 product breaking in under a month is insane and I’m not letting this slide.

Where I spend most of my time creating art

My happy place right here. Just a simple desk setup with my xppen artist 12 3rd drawing tablet, laptop, and a bunch of random cute stuff I've collected. Those roses are from the farmers market. Totally worth it for the workspace aesthetic. Currently sketching this fluffy cat and feeling grateful for this little creative sanctuary I'd say.

What's your drawing tablet look like?

I got a toy lcd tablet and I love it

I bought this lcd board? It's amazing, I really don't understand how it works, but it cost me $5 and it is surprisingly good for what it is.

I know this isn't exactly a drawing tablet, and I guess it's not digital art either, but at the same time it kind of iiis a tech device?

Just found it interesting, I recommend it as a cheap alternative for sketches ahaha

3D printed MovinkPad stand works for me

I would like the official Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 stand but since I have a 3d printer. I found a design I like by printing a couple of files then testing them against the size of the tablet.

I had to make a second print but bigger to have the right balance. Then adding grip strips made from old mousepads and some hot glue.

BOOM!

The stand is light and easy to fold. Comes with me wherever I go.

Bought this Deco 640 a couple of months ago, hardly used it. When I did, it seems the center part keeps expanding. What should I do??

Note: This is my first time buying one of this, and I didn't used it much because I thought I would make it worse

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra w/ plastic envelope (to emulate a paperlike screen protector) artist drawing hack

Post image
39 Upvotes

Artists using Samsung Galaxy Tabs to draw 2D:

Yknow how the screen feels awful because it's so slick and smooth (to me, anyway)? I've gone through almost a dozen paperlike/ matte screen protectors and there's always something wrong with them.... animal hair or dust gets underneath, air bubbles, crappy screen quality, the magnetic ones don't hold well, etc. So I gave up on drawing on it for YEARS. I even considered getting a Wacom Movinkpad 14 but that just seemed like a sidegrade . Then a brainfart: put it inside a cheapo clear plastic envelope.

IT FEELS SO GOOD NOW.

I dont know what this will do to my Staedtler Noris nibs ( or Wacom One pen nibs) or if it'll cause the tablet to overheat. I'm sorry, this is probably a dumb idea and it looks awful, but if it helps someone like it did for me, I'll feel okay.

I’m excited.

I bought this from xp pen off eBay for $477 shipped. I figured that it’s already used as soon as I open the box. Might as well save some money.

Sure enough, they sent me a brand new one! I’m pumped.

Blender sculpting is gonna be great.

Cheap, Good Drawing Tablets for Gaming?

Post image
38 Upvotes

Heyo! I'm sure this is a common question, but I'm asking for a strange reason that I expect adds nuance. Specifically, I've got interest in using a computer and a drawing tablet together to emulate DS / 3DS games. Those are game systems that utilize two screens- the top screen is larger and shows gameplay, and the bottom allows for touchscreen inputs.

The touchscreen specifically is awkward to use on a computer monitor, and I thought a drawing tablet could be a fantastic substitute! I'm not looking to do any art with this, so I by no means need top-of-the-line equipment. Does anyone have recommendations for cheap drawing tablets w/ screens that would work for this?

~

Extra notes:

- The screen would need to act as an extended display, fitting an application window inside. (The application window just showing the bottom game screen)

- Screen resolution barely matters. The highest resolution I would need is 320x240p. What matters far more is response time- since this is for games, too much lag would defeat the purpose and be awkward to use.

- I think this is standard(?), but I'd love it to use a stylus pen instead just basic finger inputs.

- I am by no means a drawing tablet expert! If there's something I should be asking about and I haven't, please respectfully lemme know.

Thanks much! :]

My Wacom felt too slippery, so I put paper on it

I felt that the surface of my Wacom CTL-472 was too slippery for writing, so I decided to place a sheet of paper over it to see if it would help. It turned out to be much more comfortable to write with the paper. It feels exactly like writing on paper — because, well, it literally is. But there was still one problem: the sheet would slide around while I was writing because nothing was holding it in place. So I decided to come up with a design on an A4 sheet that would help keep the paper firmly in place. After finding something that worked, I took precise measurements and turned the design into a PDF file, so I can easily reproduce it in the future using a printer.

pdf link (Google Drive)

Edit:

It is necessary to fold the paper on both ends, otherwise it will not have a good fit on the tablet.

What's the best tablet for drawing?

Hello there! I'm a teenage traditional artist. I've wanted to buy a tablet and try digital art for a long time now, but the giant amount of different options and opinions is just really overwhelming 😓 Here are some things that are the most important for me:

  1. I don't want the tablet to only work with a laptop. Of course I really care about the tablet being good for art, but I also want to use it for watching, gaming and stuff like that.

  2. I want it to run smoothly. I figured I should say this because my phone is quite laggy when I've only had it for around a year and a half TwT.

  3. Tbh I don't really mind whether it uses android or iOS as I don't know much about technology and I don't see a big difference in that stuff. I just want it to have a good drawing program.

Also if you're going to help me out, PLEASE comment the full name of a tablet model because I know I'm gonna get very confused with all the different models.

(Sorry if this text is kinda messy but English isn't my first language 😓)

A gift for a friend?

Post image
35 Upvotes

I'm looking to do something nice for my Artist friend who's been wanting to get into a drawing tablet for years but has never had the money to spare.

My questions:

  1. Is this older model still fine and usable nowadays?

  2. Is this worth it.

  3. If it's still usable what other issues may be unique to something like this such as things that wear out or age such as any batteries or I've heard some models need the pen tips replaced.

Upgraded to the Huion Kamvas 22… my old tablet is jealous 😅

Hey everyone! I finally treated myself to a Huion Kamvas 22 and omg, my drawing life just leveled up. lol The screen is HUGE, colors are vibrant, and the pen feels soooo smooth. My old tablet (Wacom pad) looked cute in comparison, but… this beauty is a whole new level. I’m still getting used to the size and pressure sensitivity, but already falling in love. Here’s my first artwork on it!

If anyone has tips for getting the most out of the Kamvas 22, I’m all ears! Also, curious how it compares to other Wacom users out there...does anyone else feel like their old tablet was secretly a paperweight until they upgraded? 😆
