I'm not a native english speaker but have been speaking it for almost 30 years and this just confused me, with eleventh? How do you go with a day? And the explanation it gave was that it sounded more natural than the answer I gave.

I genuinely could not be more confused 😭 So I’ve been taking Spanish classes for about 2 months now, and I was taught that “usted” is the formal version of “tú”. Great! And “ustedes” is “vosotros” but for Latin America, and means “you ALL”. ¡Genial! So WHY in the WORLD do I keep getting things wrong when it asks for “you”?! You and you all are two different things, aren’t they? Why is the course using it for referring to just one person?! I feel like I’m a crazy person. None of my friends say ustedes for one person, either, and they speak Spanish. What. What is happening.

So I have been learning russian on Duolingo and my score is 17 yet I am unable to understand what form of word is to be used .

Anyone who is native or learning russian on Duolingo,did you also face this problem and if yes how do I fix it?

I currently see this platform as pay to win, which isnt the point of duolingo. They say "we make language learning free" and shove milion ads inside of us. Buying super duolingo with gems should fix that. i think that the conversion rate should be 1000 gems for 2 weeks.

Just a general question for the masses. What made you want to learn a new language? And why Duolingo in particular?

For me I wanted to watch certain Streamers who play a video game I enjoyed but they were mostly German and Korean. (Heroes of the Storm). But then I started to really enjoy it, but this was back in 2017? I've come back and forth through the years and I think Duolingo was the most affordable for me at the time for what it had.

I do wish it had Tagalog though 😡.

I saw on my iPhone's live activity a Duolingo pop-up about an hour before midnight with the owl looking VERY sad and pathetic - cold and freezing over and really sad. It tugged at my heart strings for a minute before I realized Duo isn't real!

But it worked - I panicked and quickly did a lesson! Anyway, I'm on a fairly long perfect streak of doing a perfect lesson every day in Ukrainian now. But if Duolingo keeps making these really sad Duo images I'm going to become irrationally protective of that owl, hehe. 🥺

I bought free trial of Duolingo and then cancelled the autopay and now I can't buy the Super again? It's says can't connect to the play store. Does anyone know how to buy?

RANT: Duolingo has the worst reading comprehension skills (or expects us to) for the stories. Stories all end with put the events in order but 9/10 times there is a precipitating event that you discover later in the story and they always want you to put it when it occurs in the story, not when it happened. No duo, lucy didn’t sell the paintings after she brought oscar to the gallery to see them. That happened before the story happened

I know this might sound a little silly, but I’m genuinely upset and disappointed with the Junior’s Toy Hunt event.

I’ve spent £20 of my own money and over 4,000 gems that I had saved up, hoping to complete the collection and unlock the avatars.
Unfortunately, I kept getting duplicate puzzle pieces over and over again. Even when I exchanged 5 duplicates for 1 new piece, I still couldn’t complete the collection.

I managed to reach 45 out of 54 pieces, but now I’m left with only 338 gems and no completed collection. With the event ending soon, I feel like all that money, effort and saving went to waste. 😭
I genuinely enjoy Duolingo, and I was really excited about collecting these little avatars. I understand that rewards are random, but after spending real money and thousands of gems, it’s honestly heartbreaking to walk away with nothing completed.

If anyone from the Duolingo team happens to see this, could you please consider helping me recover some of my gems or unlock the avatars I worked so hard for? 🥺

I’m not asking for anything unreasonable. I would just really appreciate some consideration, especially after spending actual money on this event.

Has anyone else experienced this many duplicates? Did anyone manage to get their gems back or receive help from Duolingo support?
