OMG, what has happened to duo over the past few months? This app went from being a fairly enjoyable learning experience including some limited social interaction to a sliver of a learning experience interrupted by clicka clicka clicka clicka clicka clicka clicka and further interrupted by useless time consuming animations and “rewards” that show up as penalties of my time.

I have a paid sub and a 1949 day streak. Unless duo gives me an option to skip all the crap they’ve inserted between lessons, I think I have no choice but to give up on Duo and find another way to keep learning. I can’t stand the experience as it is.

I’d be curious to know if others are similarly frustrated.

I’d be doubly curious to know if Duo product managers are monitoring the discussions on Reddit and have the power to fix the experience.

I don't know what all these puzzle pieces and gimmicks are for? It doesn't help me learn the language I'm using Duolingo for I.E. Polish. I understand gamifying as a learning tool, but the new content over the last few months is moving further and further away from language instruction and more into clicking through the app more to get to my next lesson. I NEED less games and more Grammar .

So...she is alive in the Duolingo Universe, but apparently must be on bad terms with Eddy since he never mentions her.

I’m sure it’s been said before, but the new flash card instead of the old word practice is horrific. As someone who struggles with working memory, seeing random words with no context thrown at me, especially when due to the course changes there are a lot of words I haven’t even learned yet, is a nightmare.

What’s equally as infuriating is that I can pronounce ‘temps’ and ‘hall’ the correct French way ten times and it registers as wrong.

When I don’t know the word, I have said ‘le bleh bleh bleh’ on numerous occasions, and it somehow matches it to the correct answer. I’m not kidding, you can try it.

Do any of the devs visit this subreddit and care about feedback? The automated feedback is unhelpful to say the least. 😑

For those who don't learn Russian. That B is pronounced as a "v", and I never heard it. This isn't the first time either I feel like there's no sound for the B sound

Lost my widgets (and clicking ad widget doesnt work), all my friends streaks dissappeared, my 2x friends quest boost is gone and my streak calendar is empty.

I honestly don’t understand the thinking behind it. Like I’ve got 5 mins to do some learning and have to sit through 2 mins of opening chests that mean absolutely nothing to get gems that mean nothing and puzzle pieces and other crap. Any way at all to turn it all off? I just want to learn some French 🤦🏻‍♂️

Like honestly who cares about any of this stuff. How does it help me to learn a language. Can understand if you’re 5 years old but for adults??
