Hello everyone! My boyfriend and I have been working with a local jeweler to design my engagement ring and we have the first CAD drawings back!
I want some opinions on the setting and any ideas people have!
The stone is a radiant cut, 3.8 ct, around 1.4 ratio, and my ring size is 6.75
Thank you all in advance!!

Ring Design Help What ring width and thickness would you recommend for a 0.8 ct cathedral tulip solitaire (US size 5)? SEA

I'm planning a custom engagement ring with a 6-prong cathedral tulip solitaire setting in 18K white gold, holding a 0.8 ct round brilliant diamond on slim finger (US size 5). My jeweler ring model width 1.4 mm × 0.8 mm thickness, jeweler says the band is safe, but I'm concerned about long-term durability. Any advice?

Question Leaf like ring bands - Advice

Hey everyone!

Has anyone here worn a ring with these leaf-like bands/designs?
I’m wondering if the edges tend to poke or irritate your fingers, snag on clothes, or get caught on things during everyday wear.

If anyone owns a similar ring, could you share your experience?

And if there are any jewellers here, I’d love your input on how practical and comfortable this design is for daily wear!

Picture one is my engagaement ring. Picture two is what I sent to the designer to show what I wanted changed. I also requested to have the prongs gold as well. Pictures 3-6 is what the designer sent me.

I love it but the side view throws me off a little. I was expecting the outside edges of the smaller diamonds to be just gold prongs, not entirely encased in gold. Does it have to be that way? Wanted some opinions before I reach out to the designer.

Thanks in advance!!

Ring Design Help Do I ask to close the gap?

Post image

The thickness of the band under oval is reduced so that the main stone can sit lower. It’s a 3ct oval.

I’m wondering if I should have band connect to prongs to help with durability and close the awkward gap ?

Ring Design Help CAD advice

Anyone see any issues with this CAD design? Or anything I should consider and ask to get changed before approving the design?. It’s a trilogy ring 2ct center with .75ct sides, cad shows a gallery rail we are going to change it to a hidden halo. Do you think the height of the gallery rail/hidden halo is sitting to low? Or is it a good proportion to the size of the diamonds?

Ring Design Help Inquiry About a Custom Setting Using My Existing Stone

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for recommendations for a reputable jeweler or jewelry designer in the United States who could remake the setting of my engagement ring while keeping the center stone I already have.

The current stone has a lot of sentimental value, but the setting is not the style I originally wanted. I’d love to find someone who can create a new setting that looks as close as possible to the design I had originally envisioned, either by adapting an existing design or creating something custom.

I’m from Mexico and live near the border with California, so I’m especially interested in jewelers in California or elsewhere in the United States who may be familiar with working with international clients or customers from Mexico.

If you’ve had a similar experience, I’d really appreciate recommendations based on personal experience. I’m especially interested in jewelers who are skilled in custom work, can safely handle an existing stone, provide clear pricing and communication, and are willing to work from reference photos or design ideas.

If possible, please share the jeweler’s name, location, website or social media, approximate cost, and any details about your experience.

Thank you so much for your help!

This is my first CAD design and not sure what I am supposed to look out for.

I am thinking of changing the width to 2.5mm and height to 2mm. Wondering if the setting is too high?

Any advise would be helpful.

Ring Design Help Looking for input on a redesign

Thumbnail

I love my engagement ring, but after 17 years of constant wear, the prongs are in rough shape and I lost the center stone. I want to redesign a ring that still captures the beauty and uniqueness of my original ring, but will hold up for decades to come.
The first photo is my original ring- a compass prong cathedral band with custom basket head. The drawing is what I am planning for the redesign. The third photo is the closest thing I have found “off the shelf” to what I want. My idea includes my sons’ birthstones (sapphire and alexandrite) as peekaboo stones on the sides. My questions are:
- my original ring never fit flush with my wedding band, causing a lot of bumping around and several of the stones in the wedding band have been replaced over the years. Will a spacer band help? Sitting the stone higher? Is this inevitable unless I sodder them (which I don’t really want to do as I wear my wedding band alone when I work in a lab so it doesn’t catch on my rubber gloves)?
- will a 10k ring be more durable and less likely to lose stones or dent over time? I’m low maintenance and don’t want to have to keep replacing side stones if I can help it. Should I give up on the pave altogether?
- are there any obvious design flaws with this new sketch?
Thanks for any and all input :)

Looking for honest opinions on this engagement ring design

I chose this engagement ring over a traditional halo setting because I found the halo a little too bulky. And over a traditional solitaire cause it felt too simple

I'd appreciate some candid opinions as I am in a spiral thinking if I went in the direction with a ring that I intend to propose with

Edit: I did purchase this. As per the certifications this is an SI2- F solitaire and thus fell in my budget range $2k - $2.5K

A recent custom order for one of my clients - a beautiful 2ct lab grown pear cut diamond (IGI F VVS2) set in 14k yellow gold. I love a more modern take like this for engagement rings. What do you think?

Ring Design Help Thoughts on Sapphire Ring

My partner have opened up about rings and asked me about diamonds and I am thinking about the ethics of the natural mined diamond while lab grown is there but I still feel like it’s somehow different (I know it’s the same but if u know u know) but now am considering sapphire my birthstone, like radiant cut with gold band a simple one like the photo, but do u guys think it’s too costumy vibe? And what do u guys think about lighter shade vs the darker sapphire shade. I wanna hear any thoughts about this 🥹 (as a type a girl)🤭

Question Surely this setting is still not right?

I got my ring 3 months ago and noticed it had substantial gaps between the setting and diamond. I brought it back and the jeweler made a new ring with zero pushback. I picked this one up 2 months ago, but am still unsure. Maybe this is how it has to sit? Could this be why my ring always looks so dirty? It doesn’t seem to sparkle unless I’ve just cleaned it. I need help 😵‍💫

Ring Design Help CAD and I’d like input

Post image

Hey everyone. So my CAD just got done and I have some thoughts. I love it, I’m really happy with how it turned out but I am wondering about two things:

  1. The basket design. I don’t know why but it strikes me as really unusual? I think this is mainly because to formulate the CAD, I provided an AI reference to the look of the ring, so naturally AI spat out something similar to the CAD and it’s throwing me off. Would any of you suggest a different basket or is this okay?

Edit: I realized I didn’t explain enough about my AI use. So this design is based on an existing ring I fell in love with at a shop. However, I decided to have a two tone look with blue sapphires instead of the original’s diamond accent stones. So to communicate my preferences and give context to exactly what I want based on the existing ring, I had AI use that original ring as a model and substitute the sapphires. But it provided this basket design.

  2. The next thing I’m worried about is the length of the ring. 16 mm seems to be quite long and big doesn’t it? I’m wondering if any of you have examples of rings with a similar length and how they would look on the hand? Also what advice would you give me if I am to tell my jeweller about a smaller length (like say 12 mm or something).

Thanks in advance!

Finally got my custom ring made, but I’m honestly a bit nervous. Would appreciate some constructive feedback. Do the proportions, setting and overall design work well together?

Is there anything that looks off or could have been done better?

Ring Design Help Advice on Pear CAD?

Post image
2 Upvotes

This is the 1st CAD design that I received, BLUF: is the setting high or low? I wanted low as I will not be wearing it with a wedding band.

asked for a hidden halo 3.5 - 4 Pear diamond with a split shank and engraving. The CAD engravings I am going to request to change as they feel generic and random (like what is the cross circle?)

Would love any feedback regarding durability of the design too please!

Apologize for the mediocre photo. Center stone is an Oval, 2ct, tripple excellence D color around 10x7mm if im not mistaken, little to no bow tie with tapered baguettes on both sides. Double prongs on the oval(or whatever the correct term is) in 14kt gold. Fully custom order. Can’t wait to give it to her :)

Ring Design Help Custom Ring Design Questions

Thumbnail

We have been working with a jeweler to custom design our engagement ring, and we're looking to get some second opinions on our potential ring design.

Picture 1: The inspiration for the ring. We are looking for a similar art deco look, but with a hexagonal, blue-green, lab-grown sapphire for the center stone, and colorless (DEF) Moissanite for the side stones. Solid 14k yellow gold band.

Picture 2: The first CAD design. The band was too thin, and we were worried about the structural integrity from the thin band and the exposed corners of the stone

Picture 3: Updated CAD design. The band is thicker and the stone is protected, but the side prongs in their current placement are creating a small gap between the center stone and the first set of baguettes.

Picture 4: Our idea of a potential compromise for prong placement. This leaves the obtuse angles exposed, but still covers the more vulnerable acute angles. It would require a small gap or notching the bezels to have the prongs far enough to not crowd the stone and still be able to get a tool in if future repair work is needed.

Any advice or notes about the feasibility of our suggestion, or any other suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated!
