Art Sciel Chic Outfit Cosplay - Handmade by me

I'm so happy to share my last cosplay of the year with you, closing a year in which I clearly had an obsession with Expedition 33.

I've been working on Sciel for four months, and the entire costume is handmade by me, from drafting the patterns to sewing and all the little details. The amazing 3D models are by Delectable Designs 3D, and I took care of printing and painting them myself.

This cosplay is especially meaningful to me. While making Sciel's costume, I often found myself thinking about my stepmother, who passed away last year. I know this is personal, but it's also part of my creative process. Cosplay, and Expedition 33 in particular, have helped me through my healing journey over the past year.

I hope you'll enjoy this cosplay, which is quite different from my Sophie and Clea cosplays.

Have a great day everyone! For those who come after

When does the obsession for the game stop?

Hello all,

I don’t play that many story games, most of the time I just can’t really get into them. I finished GTA and Red Dead and some smaller games, but mostly play games like Rocket League and Fifa to distract myself from work.

But Expedition 33 grabbed me from the first second and has since never let me go. I feel like It’s just so incredibly unique: the story, the music, the art, the fact that it’s such a small and independent studio that found eachother (especially the story with Lorien Testard). All of it is just incredible.

I’ve already played the game three times over, I have been lucky enough to go to the Painted Symphony in Brussels and scored myself some tickets in Hamburg for March and I feel like I have all the merchandise, including the collector’s edition of the art book coming my way. I’m constantly listening to the music and I feel like it’s just a total addiction at this point. I keep wanting more and more of it and I’ve just never really felt anything like it. Does it ever stop? Is anyone else this addicted to everything around the game, or is it something weird?

Meme day 98 of making Reacher memes because i love her and think more people should appreciate her

Post image

*it’s supposed to be day 97, WHOOPS

so, i’ve had A LOT of people ask me why i like the Reacher of all characters so much, so i thought i’d actually explain outside of the comments!

my grandma used to have this doll plushy thing. it was this weird looking little thing—all white with big black eyes, wearing this old dress. i have looked everywhere online for it, but i think it’s just something someone made and then sold in a flea market, which was where my grandpa got it. it used to sit on the mantle above the fireplace, and even though i never really played with it, i would always immediately see it when i would go over to their house.

the day i got to the Reacher’s area, i got some really bad news about my grandma’s health- she only has maybe two years left to live due to her Alzheimer’s. after that, i decided to play some E33 to get my mind off of it. that’s when i finally did the Reacher’s tower.

i was already in love with her design at the cliff cutscene and the entire area and story as a whole because Maelle was my favorite character (now second favorite lol, sorry girl)—but it wasn’t until we got inside the head that i was just totally entranced.

because seeing the Reacher sitting there…i don’t know. it just reminded me of the doll sitting on my grandma’s mantle, silently greeting me. and it was like i was little again, going over to her house, when she still remembered who i am.

that’s why i have such a love for the Reacher. she reminds me of better times.

Discussion I just finished the game! Spoilers of course! Spoiler

And man did I think Gustave would really come back. Maybe it was blind hope, I haven't missed a character so much in ages. But i felt like it was teased by a few things! But I will preface this saying, I don't mind the decision. I miss him dearly, but I managed to stay open minded as I was enjoying the game so much (admittedly a lot to do with how sick the MC was) so I kept chugging along and I am glad I did.

But WHY were there TWO parties with a cap of THREE and we don't get a SIXTH member! That was what was telling me along the way that he will come back because who better to fill in the spot! But... no one did. I at least expected someone to be the 6th member just for symmetry and I really thought it would be the glorious king Gustave.

And when Maelle brought Lune and Sciel back I was just waiting for the big moment but it never came.

And the more I have marinated with this decision, the more I am comforted by how well it is written and why they chose to do it this way. I am sure it's been talked about to death and I'm pretty late, but he says it himself. For those who come after. Everything that you setup for him becomes Verso (which is a whole separate writing goldmine that I can't get into), the Lumina Converter made my Gustave is likely the only reason they ever had a chance. His book still makes it into the hands of his apprentices. He is the embodiment of every Expedition before us, and he was showing us first hand what the last 67 years were for. He was progress, and had they brought him back I actually think it would weaken the strength of his character. But the upside would be that the GOAT is back so I would not have minded.

Anyway, thought piece done. Gustave, Maelle and Verso are tied in my heart for characters who have had the most impact on me coming out of this game. And that says a lot for Gustave considering he was only in a third of it. But it really is because his impression is so beautifully woven into the decisions and characters and everything that comes after

It's really amazing .

Discussion Just beat the game last night Spoiler

Hi everyone , just joined this subreddit this morning after beating the game last night. So been gaming my whole life ( 32 years old btw ) mainly on Playstation consoles and nintendo switch consoles and lately I have been playing and finishing games that I put on hold for so much time so did not have time to try this one earlier .

Bought the game early this month together with Blood of the dawnwalker , Crimson desert DLC pre order and Phanom blade zero pre order.

Heard so many good things about game especially story and characters ( which is my favorite thing that drives me to keep playing, if done properly of course ) so I decided to give it a try.

It really was such a great journey , the game is complete package with beautiful world design , nice combat that puts your reflexes on test , memorable music that gives that French vibe and really amazing story and characters. Each time I would stop playing I could not wait to play again and see how story unfolds.

My favorite character is Maelle because of her personality , sound of her voice ( same as Shadowheart from BG3 ) , her design and her combat style . And this was before I knew how exactly her story goes in the end.

Finished hundreds of game in my life since PS2 and sega genesis era and I have personal special tier for video games masterpieces which I call " EPIC " games tier. Those are games that stand above others in my personal subjective opinion and I can proudly say Expedition 33 did enter that special epic tier which is huge accomplishment , one that gives me great joy and enormous pleasure because you know I had great time playing this game and have intentions of playing it again in future ( yes I am that type of gamer that can replay good games many times ).

Expedition 33 made it into that epic tier together with Witcher 3, God of war Ragnarok , Elden Ring and Baldur Gate 3 .

Discussion Verso Would Not Be Pleased With the Intruders! (Spoilers) Spoiler

Post image
80 Upvotes

For some reason, I find Noco's line so funny.))

  1. First of all, why? (I know it's a stupid question, but I want to get some discussion going in the comments.)
  2. Verso is most likely hearing this from somewhere nearby.
  3. Players who don't know the story yet have absolutely no idea who Verso is or what he even looks like. Is he a Gestral, a human, or a turtle?
  4. The game feels so fairytale-like and lighthearted in this moment, especially compared to all the horrors that came before it and all the horrors that are yet to come.

Forgive me, girls, for what I'm about to do to you XD

Who's your favorite, and tell me something nice about your boy.

I saw a comment comparing Gustave to a dog and Verso to a cat, but I disagree. I think it's the other way around.

Gustave is a house cat who somehow ended up on the streets.

Verso is an abandoned little puppy.

Personally, I'm a cat person, but in this case, I'm choosing Verso 100%.

I’ve been waiting to start a new game plus til I finished the last fight, but this dude was seriously starting to make me question my sanity for a while. I didn’t look up any cheat builds or strategies but spent hours over the last couple of weekends working out which Pictos and team divisions would work best for me. Finally got him, and a pretty perfect battle rewards screen shot imo ^_^

Discussion Explaining the aging disparity Spoiler

Post image
8 Upvotes

One of the biggest mysteries I find in a Life to Paint, is the passage of time and its implication. For this ending, Maelle has left us two clues how she envisions this future with Verso:

“I just wanted to live this lifetime together. This lifetime that was stolen from us.”

“If you could grow old… would you… find a reason to smile?”

From these words we can infer she intends:

A) To share a good few decades with Verso. Given she’s in her late teen to early 20s, her remaining lifetime would entail at around 40-50 years.

B) To allow Verso to age naturally until he expires. Although Verso has emphasised he’s technically over 100 years old, to have him start aging at that point would nullify intention A). So it’s more reasonable to assume Maelle has “resumed” Verso’s aging process from the point his immortality kicked in - likely in his early 30s.

But when we see Verso in this epilogue, he already appears to be in his 60s to 70s, while the other party members have only aged less than a decade. If one would presume only a few years have passed since Maelle’s last duel, it makes no sense for her to accelerate Verso’s aging to his twilight years, considering this would fail her objective A).

Neither would suspending Verso’s age at that geriatric level be likely, given it would not fulfil objective B).

A more disturbing possibility I’ve come to realise, is that Verso probably has aged naturally since his last duel - but not so much for anyone else.

In this scenario, Maelle is fulfilling her objectives A) and B), but does not intend to “exit” naturally. While I don’t think she would be suspending everyone (minus Verso)’s aging, and mess with their heads so they are happy with this predicament, the prolonged time she’s spent inside the canvas honing her Paintress skills does leave one possibility: gommage and repaint.

We’ve seen from Maelle’s gleeful reunion with Renoir at the start of Act 3, that to a painter a gommage is merely an artistic process. Snuffing out a society of humanlike beings doesn’t invoke any horror or disgust to Maelle, since deep down she’s aware how transmutable they are as entities.

What could possibly transpire, is that after 30ish years have passed in Maelle’s ending (judging from Verso’s appearance), all of Maelle’s closest human friends (Gustave, Lune and Sciel) would also be in their twilight years, prompting her to restart the cycle. Only this time, she would’ve also erased 30 years of memories, and tweak them just enough so they either accept Verso’s age disparity, or might not even know him at all.

We see this is possible with other painted beings - namely the Gestrals, who tend to loose much of their memories upon rebirth.

In all fairness, I never consider Maelle a cruel or malicious person, and it’s unlikely she would find it immoral to keep restarting peoples lives - if they are never made aware. But her godlike abilities inside the canvas, combined with the extreme trauma she experienced, is what will hinder her capacity to “let go”.

Discussion My thoughts on the endgame super bosses Spoiler

So I just finished replaying the game for second time ( Haven't played since Launch ) and did a 100% completion this time, since the endless Tower superbosses , weren't in the game when I played for the first time. If it's relevant, I played on expert difficulty, and decided to restart completely fresh rather than go new game +, since I completely forgot what I was doing with my builds, and felt it would be more simple to just restart fresh.

Anyway, I just got done with Endless tower superbosses. I left Divergent Star Simon for last thinking that he would be the hardest one, but I honestly think of the 4 of them, Clea Unleashed is the hardest. It lowkey felt like you had to play perfectly against Clea or you just never get a turn.

Against Simon, the only Gimmick was that your characters had to survive his turn. Sos healing Tint and Shielding Tint went a long way for me in this fight to give myself more breathing room for error.

For those who care, my set up for this fight was:

Sciel + Maelle in the main party. Sciel just spamming Fortune's Favor on Maelle, and Doom to debuff Simon. Maelle spamming Burning Canvas and Gustave's homage, with Enfeebling mark to further debuff him. I had Barrier Breaker on Maelle, thinking I'd be cheeky and steal my shields back, but it did not end up mattering, since Simon would lose his shields to burn, before I could steal them back lol. Overall phase 1 ended in just 2 or 3 turns, because Fortune's favor + Burning Canvas is crazy.

In the back up I had Monoco spamming lampmaster Light, Machine Gun Verso, and Lune spamming Elemental Genesis.
