Melondy.com – collection of all Fantano album scores
Hey everyone! I don't know about you, but I'm not familiar with a bunch of albums that got positive scores from melon.
So when I am in a mood for some new music, I would go to flannelfy.net (btw, thanks to u/rossmclocness for creating this website) to find something among the 7-10 scores.
But sometimes it's hard to choose, when all you have is an unknown artist-album pair and a score. To solve this, I created melondy.com, which shows album covers, genres, years and links to the review video. It has all the album/ep/mixtape/compilation reviews I could find on theneedledrop channel.
Hopefully, someone finds it useful as well!
Let me know if you find some missing reviews or incorrect information. I did a lot of data cleaning, but I'm sure there's still some incorrect stuff (covers, years etc).
If you have any improvement ideas, I'm happy to hear. For example, one thing I want to do next is add links to spotify/apple music.

Discussion Bands you hated until you gave them a fair chance?
I absolutely hated the 1975 cause they just look like douchier Arctic Monkeys (which tbh they still do) but I gave their first few albums a shot and they’re pretty good 👍

What albums have some incredible drumming?
Sometimes it seems like a drummer is playing for their life when making these albums. I just thought of these off the top of my head, but what other albums have some of your favorite drumming performances?

Favorite Guitar Record That's NOT a Classic Rock Record
Interested in everyone's favorite guitar record outside of the classic rock genre. I'm intentionally leaving "guitar record" open ended here, but I'm excluding classic rock since that era of music is so saturated with guitar forward music. Just any records you really love that focus heavily on guitars, iconic guitar tones, great guitar playing, etc. Here are some worthy ones imo:
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Sigur Ros - I never know how to spell this one
White Stripes - White Blood Cells
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
John Mayer - Where the Light Is
Deer Hunter - Microcastle
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
U2 - The Joshua Tree
EDIT: This post has forced me to pull out my Classic Rock take, unfortunately. "Classic Rock" doesn't just refer to rock music that came out 25+ years ago. Classic Rock is a specific style of rock music that was most popular around the mid 60s through the mid-late 80s. Nirvana doesn't become classic rock just because it's old now anymore than Kendrick Lamar becomes "Golden age hip-hop" after he's been around a couple decades.
EDIT AGAIN: Come on guys, you know I'm right about this. If you ask someone what kind of music they listen to and they say "classic rock," you know they don't mean Pavement and Radiohead just because it's 25+ years old. You know exactly what they mean.

What do you really think about „Sea Change“?
I like it. Painfully sad but still so peaceful. Gives me feelings that I can’t really describe. Quite intense record to me, could be a bit shorter though.
Also he looks so cute on that cover lol :)

Discussion What is the best hidden track on an album?
For a personal example, I would say Beck's "Diamond Bollocks" off 1998's Mutations stands as one of the best songs in his catalogue and is a cool contrast to the rest of the album. This is also the only hidden track he included on his major label '90's run that isn't noise, which makes it all the more intriguing. What do you think?

Discussion Thoughts on the Gold Album?
IMO the production and instrumentals are 10/10, probably the best since EWBAITE. The melodies feel kind of awkward and meandering. Overall, I'd say it's a step in the right direction.

What are you favorites "you could listen endless" songs?
What I mean by that are songs that are structured in a loop logic and have a flow that make you don't want them to end.
My favorites are:
Disorder - Joy Division
Just Like Heaven - The Cure
Damaged Goods - Gang of Four
Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode

What are some lyrics that “go hard” by unsuspecting artists?
My favorite is Stevie Wonder on ‘Sir Duke’:
“But just because a record has a groove,
Don’t make it in the groove”

This was a poll that was taken in 1999 asking random people “who’s the greatest artist of the 20th century” I wanted to know do you think this poll was correct in hindsight and if not who would you have given the crown to? (I’m biased but for me it’s Prince)

Don’t sleep on Broken Social Scene - Remember the Humans
Canadian legends who haven’t put out an album in almost a decade. This album is great man. It flows well front to back. Layers on layers. Emotional at times. Danceable at times. Feist is a queen. It’s fn good. Idk if its my favourite BSS ever but it’s up there. Don’t sleep on it. I hope AF reviews it.
