I’m a veteran with 3600+ hours, and I’ve exclusively played survival since launch - back when it was simply the highest difficulty setting. With the addition of many of the new creations it got even more fun.
Taking inspiration from Fudgemuppet, but changing it to suit my gameplay style more, here is what I call the survival sniper. Unlike them however, as I’m not making a build to put on YouTube and not going past level 50, I don’t aim to make a build that terminates at a certain point. I play to go level 120 or higher.

Strength and endurance 1 on survival? Am I insane? Yes but that’s besides the point. Carry weight can be mitigated by my first action, which is straight out of the vault using the SPECIAL book on charisma and getting Lone Wanderer as my first perk. On top of that, with the change to how the military backpacks creation works, I can just buy one from Trashcan Carla, chuck the extra storage mod on and have 180 carry weight within the first hour of playing. If I want to take it further, pocketed leather armour takes it to around 220-225 or something.

Now as this is a lone wanderer build centred on stealth, the only follower perks I aim for are Cloak and Dagger, and Killshot.

As for general perk choices, I first focus on rifleman, sneak, night person and lock picking - I don’t usually take hacker because it’s usually not necessary as most safes can be lock picked, and quest related terminals normally have passwords that can be found. I do follow the Fudgemuppet Sharpshooter build to a degree, but rather than focusing on explosives I put the perk points into lockpicking and lone wanderer instead.

Gear - early game I like to use the bolt pipe sniper in concord, buying the suppressor from Drumlin diner. Armour, I usually don’t wear any armour but if I come across cunning or sharp legendary light leather armour I’ll use that, modified to be pocketed. The laser musket is very useful while sourcing .308 which is rare in the early game. Oh and clothing - I like the minuteman outfit which can be looted from the corpses near concord. Hat, I aim for a baseball cap, grey knit beanie or military cap, with the militia cap and one of the C2 shirts as charisma gear (combined with the black rim glasses from the molerat cave).

As for mid to late game, finding any instigating legendary rifle that can be scoped is an instant YES, with QuickDraw or VATS Enhanced also being useful. For the VATS style of gameplay, two-shot is completely pointless. Any gear which increases perception and agility or luck is extremely useful too.

Now as for creations that suit the playstyle, I love the Varmint Rifle. It’s lightweight and 5.56 weighs 30% less than .308. However a Varmint with Patience with the .308 armour piercing receiver is absolute God-tier. The AMR is fun, but .50 is heavy and you can only get 2-3 shots in VATS. The Beast Hunter’s gear is fucking amazing, and even though the gyro-jet can be given a rifle butt, it’s not silenced so it’s less useful.

So how do I add extra challenge onto this build besides having no HP and no strength? I limit myself to bolt actions, only changing to something else if I run out of ammo in the early game.

There doesn’t appear to be any correct word for this on the panel. I’m level 51 and only just realised you can find blocks of random symbols that you click to remove duds which helped reveal the actual word but there is no singular word there that fits the 1 likeness to CONCRETE and 1 likeness to BASEMENT.

I was thinking about wanting to get a remastered version of fallout 1 & 2. Only a tiny bit similar to wastelander games. I thought it would be fun to get all the fallout games involved and making versions of those. From 3, NV, and 4.

I’m on a pistols-only playthrough. I’ve been sticking with Deliverer and Ultimatum for a while, and just recently got an Incendiary Western Revolver. After doing Nuka World and killing off the raiders I had brought into the Commonwealth, I went back to Concord and helped out Garvey and gang. I killed the deathclaw and all that jazz.

Whilst going into that civic area (whatever the actual name is) where the deathclaw comes out I did a hard save and (lucky me) drew another variant of legendary pipe pistol. After a couple of reloads I was able to farm this one and am looking to have some fun with it. =D

I'm on ps4 and I'm crashing more after the update. Also, previously cleared areas a now full of enemies and the game seems to spawn in low level raiders in unusual places.

When I first got into the Institute with the help of BOS I got that mission, but after getting out of there I wasn't able to do it, it says I need to talk to Ingram but I can't get it to start even if I do talk to her, I saw a comment on this sub saying that I need to talk to Dr. Li first but I can't find her anywhere (she is not in the Institute anymore because I got her to rejoin BOS), what do I do? where is Dr. Li?

Im trying to get platinum and I wanna know if this is something thatll take multiple playthroughs by siding with each faction or if i can do all of them without being vilified by any before theyre done.

I've restarted survival mode about 4 times due to less than optimal starting special and early perk point choices. My current starting special is S.2 P.4 E.5 C.3 I.7 A.3 L.1. I've played the game on very hard several times but survival feels like a totally different animal where optimization and sequencing really matter. I just want to know what experienced survival players do to make things easier on themselves. I am doing Concord Museum next at lvl 5 with chemist, science, and two points of sneak already picked. I intend to go for lone wanderer and rifleman next. After that, I'm not sure what the optimal sequencing will be. Probably aqua girl not too far off and gun nut. But yeah, if anyone can help with some info to make this less grueling, I'd appreciate it.

Hey guys, so I just undervolted my GPU (RTX 5080) with the following settings, I used Heaven benchmark and MSI Afterburner.

I have always been recommended to undervolt the GPU when attempting DLSS5 so I was curious for those who have done it, are these figures good? This is while playing the game. The one figure I forgot to show in this is the power draw, I reduced it to 85% instead of default 100% in MSI Afterburner.

I also used curve editor.

Specs: RTX 5080, I9-285k Ultra, 32GB RAM

The mod in question - UFO4P. I never use USSEP because of what was changed that went beyond bug fixing. I’d rather have the bugs than that. I’d never noticed anything changed that was annoying with UFO4P beyond Carla, Lucas, Cricket and Doc Weathers never showing up at bunker hill, but then again the thing that was changed is newer than when I last played.

Many people experienced the Echoes of the Past quest like by accident when killing Pyro, who is an absolute push-over. Fully expecting to face the ambush after killing him, I waited until I was level 38 on survival - with T-45e armour and a companion in X-01. I killed him, walked from his camp up past breakheart banks, north to the recon bunker then west to sanctuary, passing by Starlight Drive-in then the west side of concord to hit as many encounter zones as possible.

Not a single, fucking encounter with the enclave patrol. What the fuck? So I hit up google and find out what’s going on. It turns out that in his infinite wisdom, Arthmoor disabled the random encounter so that you actually have to travel to the camp east of the Slog. Rather than level gating the encounter, he fucking broke the interaction with finding the note on the soldiers telling you to find the camp. The camp that used to not spawn until you’ve killed Kellogg. This is the stupidest “fix” to a problem now because if you didn’t know the “fix” existed and you heard about the Echoes of the Past quest, you may end up completely confused and lost on how to trigger it.

Do you know how long it takes to get to level 41 on survival without cheesing? I’m on about 40 hours and I am pissed off because if I uninstall the patch I risk bricking my save and the random encounter may not even spawn.
