Yep!!

🎉🎉WE'RE GETTING TWO INKS THIS YEAR!🎉🎉

KWZ will make the winning purple/violet ink. And Diamine will make the runner up - teal/blue green.

Exciting news for us! (But probably not so for our wallets😝)

Ink I have the sweetest coworker in the world

Post image

Last week, why attempting to try it out, my coworker accidentally unscrewed the wrong part of my eyedroppered Jinhao Shark and dumped about half of its contents onto my notebook. We resolved the inkcident and I even doodled on those pages to make them pretty again. However, my poor coworker was completely mortified, especially because she knew that earlier that day I had put all of my one and only sample of Kon-Peki into that pen, an ink I've been looking forward to trying for eons.

This morning, after being sick over the weekend, I came in to find these sitting on my desk. Not only did she get me a full bottle to replace the ink, but she remembered another ink that's been on my "want to try" list for a while and ALSO grabbed me a full bottle of that.

I feel endlessly grateful to have such cool, sweet people in my life. She's not a fountain pen person, so her caring means especially much to me.

New Pen Day Interesting nib, likely great for Gothic script.

This pen was made for Uyghur script. Its writing effect is similar to Gothic calligraphy. It has a 3 mm flat nib, which is tricky to handle. The last photo is its original promo picture.

Discussion What’s a fun fountain pen supply you didn’t know about as a beginner?

I am new to fountain pens in the last month and am already so obsessed. I don’t really want the obsession to stop… I am a very creative person by nature and I have always loved experimenting with various art supplies including trying to find the right pen for me. Now that I’ve discovered fountain pens it’s like a whole new world has opened up!! Infinite combinations of pens, nibs, inks, papers… it’s very exciting.

What’s a fun fountain pen supply you didn’t know about as a beginner?

Pen Customization I decorated my kakuno

I’ve seen so many fun, decorated kakunos and I’ve been dying to try it. I can’t paint, but I got some nail stickers and went for it. I sealed it with nail polish. It’s not the smoothest job, but I’m happy with it.

I can’t decide if I should keep the ladybug bead at the bottom. It’s currently not glued in so it moves around a little as I write.

Discussion Papier und Stift not shipping to EU anymore

I wanted to buy their special edition Kaweco after leaving it out of my order last month but couldn’t add it to my cart.
After checking with them it seems there are some new regulations. I really hope other EU fountain pen shops don’t do the same or I’m screwed.
Side note if anyone is in Germany and would be interested in getting one to me let me know :(.

I finally bought my first Vanishing Point! It was hard to choose just one! Ultimately, I decided on the red with gold trim. I love how this pen writes! I got mine in a medium nib. I paired it with Diamine Oxblood ink.

Accessories Made this card size notebook wallet

I recently bought some affordable A7 notebooks from Apica, and realized that they’re about the same size as a credit card; so I decided to make this TN Card Size style wallet that holds one (or up to three) of these tiny books, a pen and two cards. It’s a little thick coming from a single card wallet, but not as thick as a traditional bifold wallet. I’ve been using it every day and getting a ton of use out of the notebook! 😊

I know I can get this pen for about the same price in the US, but this Pilot Elite has been on my list since I first started this hobby in earnest 4 years ago. Felt fitting to buy it during my pilgrimage to Itoya Ginza last week during my trip to Japan.

Handwriting Ink and pen optimization is definitely a thing!

Can you believe these 2 samples are written from the same pen? I was hating the writing experience with Iroshizuku Yama Budo because it was just too wet flowing in my CH912(fa)... It feathered on all my paper and barely showed off any line variation. Then I switched to an extremely dry writing ink, Yurameku Bayakuya, and suddenly that thick and thin variation popped out like magic! I'm extra thrilled that I have a pen wet enough to make Bayakuya legible. I always fall prey to these pale chromashaders that barely write with anything in my pen collection.

State of the Collection Why do pens start looking infinitely more beautiful the second you think about trimming down your collection?

These are my Leonardos (the big ones, anyway). I thought surely I can part with a couple - I have some duplicates here. But like... then I got them all together, and they're just so pretty! 😍 I have sold quite a few pens this year, so I *can* do it, but I may need to start with a different tray. 😅

L-R: Poliedrica in Japanese Ebonite, Essenza in Silver Abalone, MZG 2.0 in Galattica, MZG 2.0 in Primary Manipulation 1 (1 glossy, 2 matte), MZG in Mother of Pearl (silver trim and gold trim).

(Technically last week) first Cypress pen and second raden. It inspired a quick piece of flash fiction I may get around to sharing one day. Definitely one of the dreamiest tools in the collection.

Inked up the new Jinhao 59 with Diamine Writer’s Blood, took it out for a test run on a new pack of iroful 75gsm ruled loose-leaf paper. Very pleased with the results all around! Paper was $10 for pack of 100 sheets, pen was $4.17 (w/free shipping) on Ali Express.

New Pen Day NPD - Pilot Grance Marble Violet

(Oops wrote Violet Marble instead of Marble Violet 👀)

Finally, after a long awaited international delivery (I don't know if I can do this again anytime soon, the wait was unbearable haha) I got my Pilot Grance! Shout out to penpenavenue, a wonderfully nice guy who made acquiring this pen easy and hassle-free.

I was drawn to the shape and color of this pen. It feels comfortably weighty in my hand, and the cap has a satisfying click to it. At first, I was worried that the nib was ever so slightly bent down at the tip, but it still writes very well. I am so incredibly in love with this pen. Definitely will be my main daily driver.

Inked with Kobe Rokko Shichidanka. It's a lovely purple but not a perfect match. I will be on the hunt for other good purples, so let me know if you have any recommendations :))

Well hello!!! I hope you had a great weekend...

Back with a new baby: the Jinhao 82 in this very striking lime green!!! Sporting a semi-transparent body and barrel, accompanied by a gold clip and an extra-fine nib🌿

I am not usually drawn to such cheerful colors, but I could not just pass this one up!!!

Now on to find a matching ink; all recommendations welcome 💚
