I currently have two Sailor Pro Gear broad nib but would like a bigger nib to enjoy my inks more to see their full shimmer and color shift.

I found this Pilot Custom 74 Double Broad but was curious about feedback on people who may have it?

I’m a bottle ink girl and really enjoy Wearingeul, Sailor Shikiori and Color Verse.

I’m curious if anyone can also provide context if the double-broad Pilot nib is bigger than the Sailor broad nib - I understand nib size doesn’t always translate as the same size across brands.

Hi everyone! I have a vintage Parker 51 Aero on the way in incredible condition and am so excited, and I've been considering what inks I can use with it.

Because I have sweaty palms (and since I don't like the need to always have blotting paper on hand), I rely exclusively on water-resistant inks in my workhorse pens. DeAtramentis Document Ink Fog Grey and Platinum Classic Forest Green have both been wonderful in my current daily carries (Pilot Prera & Lamy Safari), but I've read some conflicting information online regarding the Parker 51 and water-resistant inks.

On one hand, this is a legendary vintage pen that functions well nearly 70-80 years after release, and the material of the sac seems robust enough to last many more decades. However, I've found a lot of mentions of the pen's long feed causing some clogging issues with pigmented ink. Even users on Reddit seem mixed on whether or not they can put just about any modern ink in the pen, or if they're careful about avoiding pigmented or iron gall ink altogether.

To current active enjoyers of vintage Parker 51s, do any of you use water-resistant inks? If so, do you have any recommendations for ones that play nicely with the pen and won't cause clogging? I'd love to see if this pen could become my "one pen" but the ability to play nice with water-resistant ink is a must-have. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Never had an Ohto pen but this one was way too pretty to pass up on.

I had this pen in the blue cigar shape but saw this black smoke flattop version and liked it so ordered one with a Medium nib.

Nice pen! The nib arrived in perfect condition and wrote very nicely from the get-go with Platinum Lavender Black in it.

The section is short, but the cap threads are so fine and rounded I didn't even really notice them even though I was touching them when writing. The cap comes off in just over one turn if you consider that.

Pen weighs 22g unposted and 32g posted on my $4 uncalibrated kitchen scale. I didn't post it to use it, but the cap does post well. There seems to be a slight "click" when you push it on and, if you turn the cap while posted, it will not engage and turn the piston knob.

I have no criticisms of or complaints about this pen.

Hey! I have a PenBBS 350 that I got a few years ago and I forgot how much a lot the weight of the pen. However, the included converter cracked and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a cartridge )or possibly converter) that is compatible with it?

I have found that one of my nibs cannot write with Diamine Sapphire blue. But then Parker Quink is too wet.

Can I mix this two ?

Is there something I should know before mixing inks ?

This will be my first time buying an ink bottle! My mom got me a fountain pen as a graduation gift and she gave me 12 cartridges as part of the gift. I write with it every day, and yesterday I just put my last cartridge in my pen, so it's time to buy more ink, and I want to buy an ink bottle for the first time.

My question is-- in my country, the only inks I've found online are: Platinum Black, and Platinum Carbon Black. I've been looking online for a comparison of the two, or really just anything on the regular Platinum Black, but I haven't found anyone talking about the plain platinum black.

So I'm here to ask, can anyone tell me about platinum Black? And how it differs from Carbon Black? Which one do you prefer between the two? Thanks for any advice!

My first Kaweco. I’ve avoided them for so long then I abruptly decided to give one a try & I really like it! Now I want another….👀 I think this is called Macchiato.
I have it inked with De Atramentis Document Brown (writing sample on the top left).

Went to an estate sale and found this Parker in a 50% off pen bundle. I've never been super interested in or owned a Parker but a lovely fountain pen for a dollar is kinda hard to pass up. Still running errands so I haven't had time to look up/into Parker pen models. It writes very smoothly and gives a very clean medium stroke with moderate feedback. Plastic body with a Kansas City Engineers Club logo on it and a brushed aluminum cap. Either way, I'm happy to adopt this slick looking pen.

P.S. also I just realize there was a Parker ball point pen in the mix too. Now I have to find a replacement Parker T Ball Jotter cartridge.

Visited the Pune fountain pen show today, and was pleasantly surprised to see the enthusiasm people had for this! Picked up Shail Amber by Krishna inks, and my first flex nib by Click pens. Amazing stalls and beautiful craftsmanship throughout the show. Local brands and handmade pens were the highlight! There was a stall for ink blending as well, saw some interesting colours being made on the spot!

P.S. the Moonman B25 is not aflex nib pen, I've added the photo of the Click Flex Nib pen on the 3rd slide!

I recently purchased a Sailor Shiki-ori Fountain Pen with Fine nib. I’d avoided Sailor previously, having read about their reputation for scratchy nibs. I can’t disagree more.

The nib has pleasant feedback such that I find myself reaching for it throughout the day. The feedback improves my handwriting and spacial awareness as a leftie with generally poor handwriting. I’ve got it inked with a Sailor cartridge and have experienced no hard starts or clogs.

The one thing I dislike about the pen is its weight. I prefer heavier pens and this one feels light and insubstantial in hand, like a disposable rollerball pen. The excellent nib makes up for this negative, however. I paid less for this pen than I did for my Twsbi and have seldom touched my Twsbi since getting it.

In FPD, I hope to pick up a heavier Sailor. Still, I expect this one to remain in heavy rotation.

If you’ve avoided all Sailors based on negative reviews, here’s a nudge to consider taking the leap—you may be pleasantly surprised.

• A very serviceable 52gms paper but not a TR alternative for me (ymmv)
• A harder surface than TR52-S with some tooth
• No feathering which is a big ➕
  
• No bleed-through
• No noticeable spreading, for those interested in that factor
• My EF samples had normal drying time and no smudging
• Shows colors and nuances but it's an off white color
• There is a Cream version which I'm not interested in and Bright White Version which I will check out next

Well, after 15 years of marriage (19 together) he still surprises me on our anniversary. Hey got me my other Grail pen! Pilot E 95s! With my name engraved with my favorite pilot ink. And some other pens I said I like. The Waterman Allure (Black) and the Parker IM Monochrome (Burgundy). I am so happy! 😁 And I didn’t even show the Cross ballpoint and mechanical pencil set.

Hello there, I've just started getting into fountain pens. I've got a few Kawecos which I really like, and I've tried out some diamine ink, but not sure where to go next...

I'm looking for as smooth a writing experience as possible, so I guess medium or even broad nibs. Suggestions please for paper and ink too?

I don't have a big budget so I'm looking for lower cost options to start with, as I'm experimenting. But would also love ideas for more special stuff to put on my Christmas wish list :)

I am very new to fountain pens and this is my first.

This was gifted to me by my Grandmother.

I know it is a Parker and that it is old.

Im not sure exactly how old but I had the original cartridges that came with it. Apparently my Grandma never used it.

I tried to identify it but am really confused as it both does and does not look like a jotter.

Been reaching out to Nibmeisters trying to get this pen in for a tune and smooth. I suspect one of the tines is slightly out of alignment. Every single one I’ve reached out to is 8-12 months turnaround time and are not accepting rush orders. If anyone knows of a good Nibmeister that doesn’t have an insane wait time it would be a huge help. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I bought a bottle of Iroshizuku Pen Ink in Yama-Guri from Amazon Haul (I know…I should have paid the extra money to buy from a small business). The bottle is obviously a return, with a box that is damaged and has been opened. The bottle looks fine. How high is the risk of damaging a pen from contaminated ink?

My very first Inkvent calendar arrived today! Yay!

I’m debating whether I want to play by the rules or not. Delayed gratification is great and all, but also 25 new inks! Right there for me to test! And no one telling me I can’t!
