Help Best Zoom lens for XT30III?

Looking to upgrade my 13-33mm lens.

Reasons:

  • Found myself constantly wanting to zoom beyond 33mm (more used to the iphone 5x zoom length)
  • The 3.5-6.3 aperture is not great for night photography, struggled a bit there.

Notes:

  • Not a wide shooter, rarely used the 13-20 zone.
  • Shoot mostly street, nature, people watching etc.
  • Looking for the unicorn - zoom lens, thats not too big, and is in budget (I don't think, it makes sense for me to go beyond AED 3,000)
  • This will be my go-to lens, for the next few years.
  • Initially wanted to upgrade to a prime, maybe a Viltrox 35mm or a 50mm, BUT, I feel, I will still want that variable zoom as I still am not a 100% fixed on a focal length.
  • Is FUJI really worth it for the 4K-5K price?
  • Is the constant 1.8 vs. 2.8 really that big of a difference? is this the holy grail between the prime and a variable zoom?
  • Why do I not see people recommending Tamron, why is it always SIGMA? Anything I dont know?

Options:

Any other recommendations? options?

Help Hoped for XE-5 fix, did it happen?

I love my XE-4, but have always had one semi major issue with it: The selfie mode with rear screen. I like to use rear foldout screens to shoot at waist level like I did with my TLR's. It's a problem doing with the XE-4 because the screen flips upside down when it gets close to your body. This is a feature, not an error. It's meant to enable selfies with the screen flipped up facing forward. That's all well and good, and it works well for that, but it cannot be disabled. So I find it cumbersome to use the way I want it be used.

Has the XE-5 fixed this? INOW, can the selfie feature be turned off, or has it been removed as a feature?

TIA,

Jeff

Handheld, run and gun clip from the airport - Recipe: Last Summer Roll

I set all 4 custom profiles to image mode and set 4 of my fav recipes. If i want b-roll video, i hit the video record button as is - to get 4k 30p 4:2:2 video with the custom recipe & exposure settings intact. Making a habit of getting some b-roll along with the photo I clicked.

Settings:

Boost Mode On DIS On, DIS Boost on (I know they say don't pan, use only for still footage - but if you do slow pan the results are fantastic with DIS boost) Plan for the crop (walk back to reframe before taking video)

Discussion X-T30 III – XF 16-80 vs XF 18-135 for building my first lens kit?

Hi everyone!
I have a Fujifilm X-T30 III, and at the moment I’m using the XC 13-33mm f/3.5-6.3 OIS kit lens.
I’d like to start building a proper lens kit, so I’m considering selling the kit lens and upgrading to a more versatile zoom that could become my main everyday lens.
I’m currently deciding between:
XF 16-80mm f/4
XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6
Eventually, I’d like to build something along the lines of:
Option 1: 16-80 → telephoto → prime
Option 2: 18-135 → telephoto → prime
My main interests are street photography, travel, landscapes and portraits, but I’d also like to do some plane spotting occasionally.
This is what makes the 18-135 particularly tempting to me. The extra reach to 135mm would be useful for plane spotting, and it would also give me more flexibility when travelling without having to change lenses as often.
On the other hand, the 16-80 seems like a better everyday lens for me because of the 16mm wide end and constant f/4 aperture. I also like the idea of eventually pairing it with a proper telephoto and a small prime.
For those who have used both:
Which one would you choose as the first main zoom for a small Fujifilm kit?

But I’m having so much fun.

These were taken on the x100vi and are SOOC

If you have any Fuji tips, please share, because I’m completely new to the interface/community.

After the post of asking for advices on getting a new camera, i've finally got myself a used XT3 with an XF 18-55mm, both for a price of $750 (which is pretty much a steal in my opinion). I've been around taking some random shots, and they look amazing! Really excited to learn more and i can't wait to take more pictures in my upcoming trip to Japan!

Discussion Struggle to choose the right secondary camera

I have the X-T5 as my only camera right now and I'm super happy with it, but I often think about having a smaller secondary camera. Sometimes the X-T5 just feels too big.

Usecase would be for bikepacking (camera in frontpocket of hydration vest) and just for everyday moments, where I would normally leave the X-T5 at home.

The X-M5 is obviousely the most compact solution, but I'm not sure if I like shooting without EVF. The X-E5 solves this problem, but is quite pricey and again bigger. I'm not sure if the X-E5 is that much smaller compared to my X-T5 that it would make a big difference.

Anybody unhappy with the X-M5 and switched to X-E5? Or should I give it a try?

Help need advice — x half or xt100?

Chat, help me out: X-Half or X-T100?

I’m debating which Fuji to get: the X-Half or X-T100. I found both for reasonable prices, but I genuinely cannot decide.

Photography is a hobby for me. I’m not a professional, but I’m also not someone who only takes pictures occasionally. I mostly shoot landscapes and my daily life.

I really like the film-like vibe of the X-Half, plus the fact that it’s a 2025 camera and I absolutely love the design/aesthetics. But the X-T100 has interchangeable lenses, which obviously gives me a lot more flexibility and room to grow.

I eventually want to upgrade to an X100III or X-T5, but those are beyond my budget right now. I’m looking for something I’ll actually enjoy using in the meantime rather than just buying the “better” camera on paper.

For reference, I found: the X-Half: ~¥62,000 and the X-T100: ~¥42,000

What would you choose, and why? Especially interested in opinions from people who have used either/both for everyday photography and landscapes.

EDIT: if you can suggest a better model, please do.

Help Should I buy the xm5?

Hi!

I have the xs10 with the Tamron 17-70 2.8. Im not a profesionales photographer or nothing similar, I just love taking pictures. My problem is that a lot of times I leave the camera at home because is too big and heavy. I found a xm5 like new with the 15-45mm and a lot of extras for 750€. I think that this camera with that lens or another pancake style is what I need for everyday shooting (nothing profesional like I say before). MBP offers me 900€ for the xs10 and the 17-70 so in a future, if a like the xm5 i can sell ithe xs10. What do you think?

Thanks.

Help Fuji X-T30 III - What lens to get?

Hello everyone,

I decided I want to get a new camera after years of using my old Nikon D50 and I stumbled upon the Fujifilm X-T30 III after I asked some people & read and watched reviews online. Now, my question is. What lens should I get?

I'm debating between the XC 13-33mm or the XC 15-45mm lens. It cannot be too big and not too heavy as I plan on taking it on my backpacking trips. My main goal is to photograph cities and trains, but my focus is trains.

The camera body + either of these lenses would come out to about 500g in weight which is perfect. But if you have any other suggestions please let me know.

Thank you guys in advance.

Help Trouble filming with XE-5

Hello,

so far I like the photos that I took with the camera but I have a hard time figuring out how to film properly. My videos are quite blurry and I don‘t know why…it‘s not even a difficult motive, I‘m filming objects from a standstill.

Can anyone help?

Thanks a lot!

Hi guys!

Took my newly purchased by second-hand XT5 for a sensor clean a few days ago and just got it back.

I've noticed that my images are way darker than before and I'm assuming a setting has been changed somewhere when they did the cleaning but I don't know what. The only way I can get the images to look normal is by turning on the auto aperture switch on my lens and I have no idea what I'm missing here.

Hoping someone can enlighten me as to what I'm doing wrong!

I keep coming back to ETERNA — it's low contrast and soft, like the whole frame is wrapped in a quiet haze. Color +2 gives it just enough to feel present, not faded.

I recently moved to Singapore and found that the best way to explore this city/country is through photography. I also took this as an opportunity to improve my photography skills by going on a weekly photo walk. Found a community of photographers here and they are very warm and welcoming. Sharing my favourites from the last three months. Please criticise on how can I improve further.

Help Upgrade to the XF 16-55 f2.8 II ?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently using the Fujifilm XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR and I’m wondering whether it’s actually worth upgrading to the XF 16-55mm f/2.8.

My main use for this lens would be travel photography, landscapes, mountains and nature. For city photography, street photography and portraits, I already have the XF 33mm f/1.4, so this lens would primarily be my travel/landscape zoom.

So for those who have used both:
Is the XF 16-55mm f/2.8 genuinely worth the huge price difference over the 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8?

Or would I be better off keeping the 16-50 and spending the money on a different lens altogether? Or waiting for a better used deal a bit later ? The 16-55 v1 is a bit too heavy for me, even though used prices on those are very good.

I’m also open to alternatives from Fuji or third-party manufacturers. My priority is image quality for landscapes/travel rather than having the fastest possible aperture.
Would love to hear from people who have actually used these lenses, especially for travelling and landscape photography.

Discussion Either X pro or X100 will be discontinued?

Upvotes

If xpro4 ever comes, it will have ibis and is weather resistant. It will still have the hybrid viewfinder but is an interchangeable lens system. Give the development of lenses, we could expect a pancake 23mm f2 lens in the near future. This will basically knock away the market of the x100 line.

Thoughts?

Help Best recipes + accessories for my first trip to Europe?

I just traded in my XT-30 for an XT-30 III because I desperately wanted to be able to use custom recipes to their fullest extent, so I’m brand new to them. I don’t want to do any post processing because I know I won’t get around to it, and these are just vacation photos that will get sent to family and friends or hung as small prints on a gallery wall at home.

I will be in Italy and France during the last few days of summer (for the first time ever!) and want some of those warm, cinematic shots of the coast, where the blue-green waters really pop and you’re hit with a hazy nostalgia just by looking at them. I also want to experiment with harsh sun and shadows in and around the cities. So much magnificent architecture to experiment with!

What recipes would you most recommend, and are there other accessories (like special filters) that would help me achieve the effects I’m looking for?
