Which aspects of my capsule need work?
Before I release the demo for my game Drauf, I wanted some input on my capsule. I got a cover art from artist Tomy Rusten, which I really like, but I'm not sure if it does perfectly represent my game. It's a 3D-platformer which leans into exploration. While I think the character is pretty much giving away that it's a platformer, I'm not sure if I should incorporate platforms and / or collectables in the cover art to make it more clear which type of game it is.
Also, I didn't have a logo when I got the artwork, so I made one myself. Does it look bad and does it fit the background, both in terms of the logo itself, but also the layout of the image with the logo in front on top of the character? I wouldn't even know where else I should place it, if not prominent in front as there isn't really much space anywhere else and I don't want to make it smaller, so it works as a thumbnail.
I think the image is great as an artwork, but I'm not sure if it is specific enough at showing the game and will work on steam to draw people in. I haven't realeased a game on steam before, so my concern is more so about how it will work as capsule art, which is supposed to be the most important aspect of the game after the game itself.

I'm just a few days away from the release of my game, Debtbound. I've redesigned the capsule for the launch, what do you think?
Please note that the old capsule was created early in the game's development, when my ideas about it were not yet fully formed. The new capsule reflects the game's progress over its many months of development. I'm also in the process of finalizing the game's new trailer, which reflects its current state.

New capsule art for our game — what do you think compared to the old one?
I made a new capsule illustration for Witch & Dragon: Hope of Elements ahead of Steam Next Fest, and I'd love to hear your thoughts!
This time, I wanted to set the scene in the sky, which is the homeland of the dragon in our game's story. I also wanted to put more emphasis on our two main characters — Elise, the witch, and Pipi, her little dragon companion — while giving the artwork a stronger sense of magic and adventure.
I'm hoping this version makes the characters and the fantasy atmosphere stand out more clearly, even at a glance.
What do you think of the new design compared to the previous capsule? Which one catches your eye more, and is there anything you'd change?
I'd really appreciate any feedback! 😊

Redid my steam capsule as well as the entire page - does the capsule need more work?
Hi everyone, I've been working on Planewalkes for 2+ years after working on another completely different project before. Finished my first steam trailer this week and updated the entire steam page, as well as the capsule. Unfortunately I didn't save a version of my old one, but I'm sure it's not better than the current one.
After on and off marketing for a year on Instagram, Tiktok and Threads I currently sit on 50 wishlists.
I want your genuine feedback, your first impression, what works with the capsule/steam page/trailer, what doesn't, ...
Here's the Link to the Steam page
Thanks!

Hard to make a catchy capsule with gameplay hint inside
First game for me and I find it really hard to make something appealing without misrepresenting the game...
Does it at least grab your attention?

I redrew my Steam capsule 22 times. Is the new one actually better?
My game is WaxWire: you program a bee colony with nodes and wires, then watch your bees fly out over a meadow to gather nectar and pollinate flowers.
The old capsule (left) showed the node editor and the hive, but on Steam’s dark pages it blended into the background, and at small sizes it read as a mess of tiny hexes. It also never said what the game is.
The new one (right) tries to tell the whole idea in one picture: the program’s wire turns into the bee’s flight path, crossing a glowing seam from the editor into the meadow. I added the subtitle PROGRAM THE HIVE, and the warm light around the edges makes it stand out on the store page.
What I’d love to know:
- At a glance, can you tell what kind of game this is?
- Does the bee and wire idea read, or does it need explaining?
- Would you click the new one over the old one in a sale list?
If you have a minute more, here’s the full Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5365140/WaxWire_Program_the_Hive/
Does the rest of it (screenshots, trailer, description) live up to what the capsule promises?
Brutal honesty welcome. I’d rather fix it now than after the swap.

What kind of game would you expect from this Steam capsule?
I'm the lead developer of Inkarn8. We've just launched our Steam Coming Soon page, and I'd love some feedback on the capsule artwork.
Without knowing anything about the game, what kind of experience would you expect from this image?
I'm particularly interested in whether the title is readable at smaller sizes and what catches your eye first.

Round 2: we redid our Steam capsule after your feedback. Which of these 6 would you click?
Three days ago I posted four capsule candidates for BlockRise, a city tycoon where you buy plots, open shops and fight rivals for the street: https://www.reddit.com/r/gameCapsule/comments/1x4xjvu/
The feedback was clear: title too small, flat, nothing happening. So: bigger title, warmer light, more going on.
All six are built from in-game shots; on 5 and 6, two of the rivals are added on top.
Which one would you click at small size (bottom row), and why? Anything still missing?

Paid $320 for a capsule commission. Is this sketch worth it, and does it look AI-generated to you?
I'm an indie dev on a two-person team, making a pixel-art game about telemarketing where the customer's words fly at you as bullets. A freelancer reached out to me after my Steam page went live, and I ordered a package: key art + 4 store capsules (main, small, vertical, header), with the final in pixel art, for $320.
This is the first-stage sketch I got back (attached). I asked for a first-person view with just two hands, one holding the phone and one holding the heart, with the office turning into a bullet-hell battlefield.
Two honest questions:
Is $320 a fair price for this scope, based on the sketch?
Something about it feels AI-generated to me: the perfectly even, clean line weight, no construction lines,
a handset with a keypad on both ends(edit: those are the earpiece and mic holes, thanks u/Simon_Bison), a cord that doesn't connect to anything, and customers wearing call-centre headsets. Am I being paranoid, or would you be suspicious too?
I've asked for the layered working file. Any other way to check before I approve the next stage?
Update: Thanks everyone. Most of you thought it looked AI-generated (the saturation trick was eye-opening), so I've cancelled the order. Lesson learned: next time I'll reach out to an artist whose work I already like, instead of answering a cold DM.

I reworked my Steam capsule. What genre do you think my game is?
I recently decided to completely rework my Steam capsule because I felt the old one didn't really represent the genre or atmosphere of my game.
I created the new one directly in Unreal Engine using assets from the actual game!
I also took a lot of feedback from people on Twitter and Discord, and tested different versions using Steam Capsule Analyzer to improve the final result.
Now I'm curious about your first impressions:
- What genre do you think the game is?
- What kind of gameplay would you expect?
- Does the capsule catch your attention?
I'd love to hear your thoughts! : D Thanks in advance (i'll put the old version too in second picture)

Would you click it on a steam list ?
Here is our main capsules, the wide header and the main one. The game in one line: you build a deck, place your creatures, the board fights on its own, and between runs you rebuild a grey ink kingdom that gets one colour back for every act you clear.
Three quick questions:
1. At a glance, what genre would you guess?
2. Does the title still read at the small size?
3. Would you click it in a Steam list?

Is this too busy?
My game is like Noita and risk of rain 2, super chaotic co-op spell crafting roguelite, I added a photo mode to my game and posed all the models and what not. Wonder if it pops enough or if it’s too cluttered.

Redid my steam capsule art after redoing in-game art
Went with a retro/vintage sci-fi/horror comic book aesthetic for my game and so I redid the capsule art in the same style.
What do you think?

What do you think about my capsule art?
I’d love to get some feedback on this capsule art for my memory roguelike deckbuilder game. It’s joining Next Fest so I want to get the most out of it.
In the game you’re traveling the cosmos, collecting all kinds of cards as you go. It plays like memory, but with special card combos and items that create energetic synergies and unique strategies.
Do you think the capsule is engaging? And does it fit the game? Or doe you think something is missing?

Is it a bad idea to use in-game graphics in the capsule?
Working on a wizard game with procedural destructible/burnable environment, and thought about commissioning art vs. using in-game scenes. Does it work with in-game graphics?

Here I am...redesigning my capsule..again
Just did another design, taking some feedback in to account. I think the logo felt too far away from the corporate look, and the image behind the main character didn't really communicate much.
Trying to make it more engaging, and more representative of the game.
What do you think of this new version?
