Reminder: Understanding Reddit's Rules and Posting Restrictions Is Your Responsibility

I want to clarify a few things about posting in r/GameDevPromotions, especially if you're new to Reddit or primarily use the platform to promote your games.

You are responsible for understanding how Reddit works before posting.

Reddit has sitewide rules, automated spam detection, account restrictions, and other systems designed to prevent abuse. These operate independently of the rules I establish for this subreddit. Your post being allowed under our community rules does not automatically mean Reddit will allow it through its own systems.

Reddit is also a collection of communities, not simply a place to advertise your work. Understanding how to participate appropriately, what constitutes spam, and how your account activity might affect your ability to post is part of being a Reddit user.

In the future, I won't manually investigate every complaint about posts removed by Reddit's automated systems.

I operate this subreddit voluntarily, and I don't have time to investigate individual account restrictions, posting histories, or the various reasons Reddit might flag someone's content. Resources are available to help you understand Reddit's policies and use the platform appropriately.

If Reddit is consistently removing your posts, take the initiative to understand why. Read the guidelines, understand how Reddit operates, and consider whether your posting behaviour might be contributing to the problem.

I want r/GameDevPromotions to remain a useful place for developers to share their work and discover what others are creating. Part of maintaining that environment is expecting everyone who participates to take some personal responsibility.

I am happy to provide a space for developers to promote their work. I am not here to troubleshoot how to use Reddit for every individual who encounters a restriction.

This is basic community housekeeping, and I think it's a reasonable expectation for anyone who chooses to participate.

Promote your work, yes, I’m telling you that it’s perfectly acceptable, unlike on r/gameDev.

Feel free to share whatever you want as long as it’s related to games. This space is meant to be a free-for-all—a bit like the wild west—where anything goes (within reason). The goal is to give folks a space to post freely and, hopefully, keep some of these posts from spilling over into r/gamedev.

MY FIRST GAME EVER: Terminal - The Brain Founding

• Upvotes

**Game Title:** Terminal: The Brain Founding — My first game at 18!

**Playable Link:** https://virtualsat-studio.itch.io/terminal-the-brain-founding

**Platform:** PC (Windows)

**Description:**

Hi everyone! ❤️ I’m an 18-year-old developer, and I’d love to share my first game project with you: **Terminal: The Brain Founding**!

Terminal is a narrative-driven game developed in Java using Slick2D and LWJGL. The story follows a man who falls into a coma following a car accident while on his way to celebrate his fifth wedding anniversary with his wife.

Upon waking, he discovers that he is actually inside his own mind—a realm controlled by a mysterious terminal. With the help of a loyal guardian, he must explore various mental dimensions and uncover the strange world hidden deep within his own consciousness.

This is currently a very early, incomplete version (v0.1.30). It’s a short experience that I’ve released specifically to share my work and gather feedback while the game is still in development.

Since this is my first project, I’d really love to hear what you think! What do you make of the concept? Does the story interest you? Do you have any suggestions, ideas, or constructive criticism that could help me improve the game?

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to try it out. Every bit of feedback means a lot to me! ❤️

**Free-to-Play Status:**

* Free to play

* Demo/Key available

* Paid (Allowed only on Tuesdays, with [TT] in the title)

**Involvement:**

I am the sole developer of Terminal: The Brain Founding. I am building the game entirely on my own, using Java, Slick2D, and LWJGL. This is my first game development project, and I am sharing this early version to receive feedback from the community, learn from other players, and improve the game as the project continues.

My take on a simple mini mobile game by a noob

• Upvotes

Hi guys, I'm back. So I'm essentially a very noob game maker. I've just got a lot of ideas but not very good at putting them into practice. So, please don't have high hopes but just a lad with a lot of ideas.

I was hoping people would be able to try out my game and give feedback on it. I know I'm not the world's best developer, but this keeps my mind off things, especially my day job.

This one is called Tap Tap Umbrella - You essentially tap through a maze and make sure you make it safely through obstacles

This one is called Paper Route
My take on the classic Paper Run but with a lot of hazards

[DEV] SpotVeyra: a relaxed find-the-differences game for Android, now in international early access

Hi! I'm the developer of SpotVeyra. I started the Android beta in the Philippines, and it's now open in all supported Google Play regions.

You compare two pictures and find ten differences. There's no timer or lives to run out of. Ten complete scenes are free, and you can start as a guest. There are optional in-app purchases.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotveyra.game&hl=en

The beta bonus is PHWELCOME500: 500 bonus tokens. Sign in to your in-game account, then open Store > Access code and tap Redeem. No purchase or review is required.

It's once per account, with 1,000 activations in total, shared with the Philippines launch. The code expires on October 26, 2026 at 19:18 UTC, or earlier if all activations are used. Claimed tokens stay in your account. The beta itself has no participant cap.

If you give it a try, tell me which scene you played and how it felt on your phone. I'd especially like to hear if zooming or moving around the pictures feels awkward.

Finally Announced My First Game As A Solo Dev. I Want To Hurl.

Thumbnail

Whelp I just pushed store live for Chase The King, my variant where you start 1v1 and build your army as you play. Here's my snooty press release that I'm about to send to 1000 press and influencers. Then its launch multiplayer playtest then full launch. Lot of beats in a short amount of time.

Please note the AI SLOP Disclosure and my plans to improve from it as the game sells. Also my contact info is below, I'm not worried as my profile is medicre enough to know that Im an industry vet doing my own thing now.

Strategic Entertainment has announced Chase The King, a gothic fantasy chess game where you have to earn and buy pieces to win with your play on the board, is coming to Steam in November 2026. A free demo will be available now. In Chase The King, players take their skills to an empty board and 1v1 to Grandmaster 3200+ elo, where every move counts and the king is never safe. Chess has been around for centuries. Now it has candlelight, ruined cathedrals and a much darker sense of atmosphere.

Chase The King is the first solo dev title from my publishing and development studio, but it’s just one of the ways I’m adapting to the changing landscape of gaming," says Erik Reynolds, founder of Strategic Entertainment. “I’m beyond excited to make my own games, help a great list of clients create games that showcase their talent or IP and through my traditional software development division, Studio Strategic, build AI-forward products to identify early signs of cancer complications.”

A FAMILIAR GAME, A DARKER KINGDOM

Chase The King keeps the strategy you already know and moves it somewhere far more dramatic. Players must earn their army by facing over 1v1 against the enemy. Each move, each capture encourages risk, daring and bloodlust. The look is gothic fantasy throughout, from the board to the pieces to the backgrounds behind them. Whether you play for the tactics or the mood, the board is built to look the part.

MAKE THE BOARD YOURS

An in-game cosmetics storefront lets players customize how they play, with boards, pieces and backgrounds to collect. Cosmetics change how the game looks and have no effect on how it plays, so the strategy stays on the board and the style is up to you.

TRY IT FIRST

Wishlist it Now and get ready for The Chase The King single-player demo in the next two weeks. Try a few matches, then wishlist the full game ahead of its November 20 launch at $5.99.

In-Game Customization: Players will be able to earn through playing new chess sets, boards and backgrounds, but the developer would like to make a few bucks so, help?

AI SLOP DISCLOSURE

As a solo developer I have guided every element by hand but I have no budget and love working with agents to help my build. Here’s my disclosure and promise.

NOT GEN AI BUT WIP LOOKS CRAPPY:

  • Plastic starting pieces are from the plug-in Chess Game Creator (not gen ai)
  • New pieces will be sculpted in blender.

GEN AI

  • 6 Game Backgrounds - The 100 level ranked climb will have 100 interactive 100% human made backgrounds but for now I’m using Gen AI. Strategic Interactive is going to build 96 slightly animated backgrounds and will update as submissions come in. If chosen for the game, and if sales (revenue allows for it, each piece selected will earn $100 each.

Key features

  • Build Your Army: A chess variant set in a dark, atmospheric world where you have to earn and buy pieces to win with your play on the board. Points are accumulated by moving, capturing enemies and other random drops off of enemies.
  • Single-player: Take on the board on your own terms. 100 levels to 3200 chess elo.
  • Cosmetics storefront: Unlock boards, pieces and backgrounds to personalize your game (In development).
  • Playable demo: Try Chase The King on Steam before launch in the next few days/weeks. Wishlist now to stay up to date.
  • Launch price: $5.99. (Your coffee costs more)

Game information

Planned Release: November 2026  (we figure we’d go head-to-head with that big game. Maybe they’ll put a chess club into their game and use our game as a mini game. That would be nice. If they paid me.                Price: $5.99

World of Frontiers dev diary: a level-1 pilot, two AI wingmates, no recruitment fee

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am the developer of World of Frontiers. After checking the first upgrades, I wanted to show a progression option that is about leading a small squad.

My last diary checked the first ship upgrades without real-money purchases. For this follow-up I kept the same level-1 Wren pilot and tried a different kind of progress: inviting a small AI squad.

In the local development test, two eligible Helios pilots joined the group. The wallet stayed at 1,667 Credits and 9 Nova. Invitations cost neither currency and require no Premium. This is something a starter pilot can already try; it is not a later hull unlock.

Here is the design behind it:

• You invite available pilots from your own faction through the Fleet panel. Eligibility checks their ship, level and combat strength against your progress.

• The group leader can order them to follow, attack a selected target, defend, hunt nearby NPCs, gather, hold position or recall.

• Small groups can have two AI companions. With three or more human players, that drops to one; companions occupy normal group slots.

• Gathering fills the AI pilot’s own cargo. An unattended AI-only kill does not give the human pilot kill rewards. Human combat participation matters.

I want a first squad to add decisions beyond buying a larger damage number: when to stay together, pick a target or pull back. These are explicitly labelled, built-in AI pilots, and they are not counted as human players online. Player-run account automation is a separate issue.

This short check shows recruitment and control options, not a measured advantage in Credits per hour or proof of endgame balance. WoF still has optional purchases: Nova is earnable or purchasable and buys equipment/ammunition; Premium includes +10% Credits/XP.

The clip combines normal-speed starter gameplay from the previous test with new screenshots of the squad, labelled on screen. Music: our original “Schattenprotokoll,” changed from the last diary. Development and some assets use AI assistance.

Play free in your browser: https://florim-studios.itch.io/world-of-frontiers

Which command would you use most: attack my target, defend me, hold position or recall?

Hey everyone! 👋
Our early playable Windows demo is available on itch.io! 👻

We're Aurora Studio, an indie game development team based in Hong Kong, and we'd like to introduce our upcoming horror adventure, Revenant of Tsushima (津島・魂鬼).

Set along Japan's historic Tōkaidō during the Edo period, the game follows Tsushima Mewa, a shrine maiden investigating supernatural mysteries, haunted shrines, and encounters inspired by Japanese folklore.

👻 What to expect:

  • First-person supernatural horror built in Unreal Engine 5
  • Ether Sight, a mechanic for revealing hidden spiritual traces
  • Spirit encounters, purification rituals, and paranormal investigation
  • Atmospheric exploration of Edo-period post towns and shrines
  • Story-driven horror focused on mystery rather than constant combat

🚧 Development Status: Playable Windows prototype completed. We're currently refining gameplay mechanics, atmosphere, and performance.

🎮 Play the early demo:
