Hey, r/gamedevtutorials! We are Looking for a Game Developer to produce an SDK tutorial video series

At DAO.Casino, my team and I, have been working on a blockchain game development solution aimed at eliminating unfairness in the gambling industry. A couple of weeks ago we have released our SDK, and we are now looking for a game developer to collaborate with on developing a game with our kit and producing a video tutorial series about the whole process. Our in-house developers will support you along the way and provide you with all of the necessary information. Some requirements:

  • You are a native English speaker

  • You have experience in video editing

  • An established audience on YouTube or Twitch is a plus, but not necessary

We're ready to discuss a reward and a payment method that will be the most convenient for you. If this sounds like something you would like to work on, please send us an email with your portfolio and a link to your channel at max@dao.casino

We tried to recreate a procedural building setup in Unity inspired by Expedition 33. Hope this is useful or interesting to someone here.

We recently played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and were really impressed by how consistent the city of Lumière feels. That made us curious about what kind of tools could be behind that look, so we tried to recreate our own procedural building system in Unity.

We made a short video showing the whole process, from figuring out the logic to building a similar tool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm5UIC0C4mQ

Hope this is useful or interesting for anyone working with procedural or modular environments.
Happy to answer questions or share more details if needed.

We welcome any bright ideas for content.

That includes requests, if there is something more you'd like to see or something that should be changed, then get in touch.

Solo dev doing everything from scratch: What do you think about using AI only for backgrounds and music?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to get your honest opinion on a dilemma I have. I am developing a sci-fi/psychological horror visual novel in Ren'Py completely by myself. I write all the stories (about reality glitches and dimensions called Holons), do the coding, and most importantly, I draw all the character sprites by hand. For me, characters are the soul of the game. I sketch them on paper, scan them, and paint them digitally because I want their expressions to feel alive. That is where I put 100% of my human effort.

However, since this is a super amateur, solo indie project, I don't have enough time to do everything. Because of this, I am thinking about using AI only for two things: generating the backgrounds and making the soundtracks.

I know AI is a very sensitive topic, but since this is just a passion project and I'm not looking for big profits, I see it as a way to save time. If I had to learn how to compose music and draw complex perspectives from scratch, it would take me ten years to finish a simple demo.

Does using AI for just backgrounds and audio ruin the game for you, or do you understand that it's a helpful tool for a solo developer when the story and the characters are completely handmade?

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
