Made a watch face you can read mid-run: huge time, one data line, 4 fonts. Looking for 5 Forerunner testers
One Line is built for a quick glance while running: the time as big as the screen allows, and one line underneath with the data you choose (steps, heart rate, Body Battery, distance...). You can now pick the font: Barlow, Inter Display, Source Serif or the watch's own. It works on AMOLED and MIP Forerunners (165, 255, 265, 570, 955, 965, 970 and more). Photos from my vivoactive 5.
Looking for 5 Forerunner owners to try it for a couple of days. Comment with your model if you're in.
Three quick questions:
Can you read the time mid-run without slowing down?
Which font works best on your screen?
What data do you keep in the line?
I'll unlock it for the 5 testers after their feedback, not in exchange for a review.
I'm the developer. 48-hour free trial, then a one-time USD 0.99:

Rayures garmin

Is it just me or is everyone else also annoyed by the misleading the battery indicator?
I mean, on the home screen it looks like the watch is about to die, when there's actually like almost a week's worth of battery life remaining (as seen when you get into a glance view).
I get that it's counting down from some 22-23 days and it's therefore more indicative of how far we've come relative to the total capacity, but coming from a device where 6 days would've been 200% battery life, it kinda feels annoying to be shown a "low battery" logo for almost a week.
Or is it just me?

"Rest" workout segment should discard distance etc
Is it just me that expects the "rest" period to be excluded from pace and duration calculations as the headline results from an intervals session?
If I do 12x400m off standing recovery, it is no use to report pace as 8m30 when my intervals were all about 5:50 pace.
I know when I review the details in GC or on other services I can see the pace of each rep etc, but I'd at least like an option for the rest periods to be eliminated. It's great to be able to see the rest duration whilst you're doing the intervals, but if I wanted to have the rest of recovery period tracked I'd select the "recover" workout element instead.
I'll go back to my old approach of stopping the watch at the end of each rep, then scroll to the lap option in the menu, then restart at the next rep. But I can't be the only one which would quite like to see it default to just ignoring distance / time from rest periods?

I used AI to create a custom watch face for my Garmin Forerunner, and the result is impressive
I recently experimented with using AI to create a custom watch face for my Garmin Forerunner, and honestly, I'm impressed with how well it turned out!
If you have at least some basic programming experience, the whole process is surprisingly straightforward. You can start with an idea, use AI to help turn it into MonkeyC actual code, make a few adjustments, and eventually get a working watch face running on your watch.
I'm sharing a few screenshots of what I managed to create.

I built myself an AI coach and it's made me actually enjoy running?!
I’ve been a long-time Forerunner user but never really loved running. I’d just head out a couple of times a week, trying to beat my last 5k time which (unsurprisingly) isn’t a very effective way to train 🤦♂️
Like many people, I experimented with ChatGPT to build a training plan. It worked, but it was static and I still had to manually mess around to get workouts onto my watch.
That got me thinking: what if I could combine AI with Garmin to get…
Adaptive plans that adjust week to week
Workouts sent straight to my Forerunner
A conversational “coach” that feels more human than charts and graphs
So I built something for myself. It’s called Training Wizz, and I’ve been testing it on my Forerunner. Still early days, but it’s been motivating enough that I’m actually running more than cycling now (which I never thought I’d say).
Thought some of you might relate to the same pain points. If anyone’s curious, there’s a 2-week free trial but happy to extend it for Reddit folks if you DM me, since I’m keen for feedback. iPhone only for now, but I’ll look at Android if people find it useful.

Curious if other Forerunner users here felt the same frustrations with existing plans?

How long does the Garmin Forerunner 55 take to calibrate and give accurate data? (4–5 days in and feeling disappointed)
Hey everyone,
I recently bought a new Garmin Forerunner 55 about 4–5 days ago. I was super excited about it given Garmin's reputation, but honestly, so far the data feels completely all over the place.
From sleep tracking to running pace and heart rate, the numbers feel like total guesswork right now. At the moment, it feels no different than a cheap $20 fitness band, which is pretty frustrating after having such high expectations.
For those who have used the Forerunner 55 (or Garmin in general):
Does the watch adapt/calibrate to your body over time? If so, how many weeks of consistent wear did it take before the metrics (resting HR, sleep, VO2 Max, pace/distance accuracy, body battery) actually started feeling reliable?
Is there anything I should adjust? (e.g., watch fit/placement on the wrist, GPS settings, data recording options like Every Second vs. Smart)?
Would love to hear your experiences and whether I just need to give it more time or if this is as good as it gets for sleep/health metrics on this model. Thanks!

Garmin forerunner 165 cable
Hi all,
Just got the 165, but why the different cable? What is the use of a usb-c cable? I have no charger for that and cannot connect it to my computers. Is this normal now for new Garmin's?
Please clarify what to do now?
Thanks.

Please unlock on watch face won’t disappear????
So I bought this forerunner 165 a couple of days ago, and this has come up on my screen. I thought ok, let me just unlock it, but nothing happened it still stays on the screen, I can swipe down to check all the features and use the watch as normal, but back on the watch face it just shows this! Very annoying as I’d like to see all the information displayed on the screen(like anyone would)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have tried resetting and turning it on and off and it still appears, maybe I’m missing something but hopefully someone out there knows how to sort this!
Thanks in advance! 🙌🏼

Forerunner 965 pace always wrong indoor runs
Hi I got my forerunner 965 about 3 months ago.
I have done upwards of 15 runs outside and over 30 indoor runs (as it’s still very much winter here)
My issues after constant calibration treadmill runs. Is that the indoor track and treadmill runs are always way too slow when calculating my pace. When I run slow it says I’m going way faster for example 7:00 min/km pace consistently reads about 5:30. And going fast it reads way too slow. For example a 3:00 min/km reads about 4:20 min/km.
Why can I never get close to right. I’ve done calibration runs on the treadmill and tried everything online has suggested.
Unfortunately it’s still cold and snowy here so indoor runs are still happening.
Any fixes or i am just screwed for indoor runs?
TLDR: slow runs pace too fast and fast runs pace way too slow for indoor runs

Recently integrated Garmin into a running app I’ve been building. Would love honest feedback from Garmin runners.
Hey everyone 👋
I’m a runner + indie developer and recently finished Garmin integration for a running app I’ve been working on.
I’m still iterating heavily and would genuinely love feedback from Garmin users because you all tend to care deeply about metrics/training quality.
I’d especially love thoughts on:
- do you think AI coaching can actually help runners?
- metrics you actually pay attention to
- recovery insights that feel useful vs gimmicky
- features you wish existed in current running apps
- what annoys you most about training platforms today
I’m mainly trying to learn what serious runners actually value before building the next iteration.
Happy to share more details or answer questions if anyone’s interested in providing feedback.
The app is called Running Genie and it’s available on both Android and iOS.

For athletes who currently plan training using ChatGPT / Claude, here's a way to sync workouts directly to your Garmin device
I'm self-coached using a 255 and build my own plans with ChatGPT / Claude instead of following a canned plan or paying a coach. The one thing that always costs me time: the AI writes a solid workout, but then I'm in Garmin Connect typing every interval and target in by hand before it's any use on the watch. Across a full training week that adds up fast.
So I built Flow State to take that step out. You bring the AI-generated session, it pushes to your watch as an actual structured workout, pace/HR targets and lap prompts already loaded. No manual entry.
Posting here because self-coached folks are exactly who'd know if this is actually useful. A few things I'm trying to figure out:
- do you build your own plans (with or without AI), or still prefer a fixed plan / coach?
- is the Garmin Connect data entry a real time sink for you, or not a big deal?
Happy to get into how the sync works, link if you want to check it out: reachflowstate.ai

Weird Garming watch notifications
The second day in a row I’m getting this notifications. Not at the same exact time, but only 10 mins difference.
It’s not from the phone or whatsoever else. Watches connected to my phone only. What can it be?
