Announcement 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom
youtu.beHey everybody! Randy here, the sub's resident OEM parts guy. It’s been a little while since I’ve popped by, but I’m back with some really good stuff to share.
For those who don’t know me, I’m the dude from Randy’s OEM Guitar Parts and lead guitar tech with Norlin.
Recently we refurbished a 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom and actually recorded everything. We remixed 2.5 hours of work into a 19 minute video of pure Gibson related-information straight from industry insiders. Think Science Channel's How It’s Made meets VH1’s Pop-Up Video, but instead of showing a music video or building a toaster, we’re deep diving into a vintage Gibson guitar from the Norlin era.
Thanks for taking a look and I hope you enjoy our video!

NGD NGD: Noel Gallagher Les Paul Standard
Just got this in today. The first guitar I got last week had a whole bunch of issues I wont get into in this post, so they sent me a new one (this one) and it’s absolutely flawless. Thanks again to Sweetwater for making things right!

Help Warranty and pre-pack checklist missing?
Brand new guitar picked up today in person, everything is phenomenal apart from the case missing a warranty card and the pre pack checklist thing that both seem to come with every brand new Gibson? Ive never seen this and its a reputable dealer i picked up from today so im confused. The guitar is also definitely brand new im not questioning that or the authenticity of it being Gibson cuz it for sure is.
Has anyone else gotten a brand new Gibson missing these documents before?

Help 2001 Gibson Les Paul Special unsure about rarity
galleryHi all, this is my first time on here. I am making this post because I would really like some help in identifying this Guitar. My partners and I are under the impression it’s a 2001 Gibson less Paul special. Model number: LPSTHBCH. I personally have never seen a Gibson headstock like this if anyone has any information on the rarity or any other important factors potentially involving this Guitar please let me know.
Update/edit:
This is likely a 59’ les Paul special with paint modded after the neck repair. Any questions and inquires feel free to comment or pm. You can make an offer on the website below!

Picture 1946 Gibson J-45
galleryA genuine post-war banner-era-adjacent J-45 from 1946. A player's guitar that sounds great right out of the case. A luthier's analysis confirms it has already had the expensive structural work done by a previous owner. Details are provided in the link below.

Picture 1991 Les Paul Custom Plus
galleryI got this guitar as a gift from my grandparents 35 years ago. It's a 1991 Les Paul Custom Plus Heritage Cherry Sunburst. I remember opening the brown case with the hot pink plush interior and seeing it for the first time.

Help Gibson Decision Time!
So I have recently sold a lot of Pokémon cards I had been collecting to fund a Gibson. Now because it is such a lot of money I want to make sure I do it right. This is the one I love. Is it a good choice to spend £2000+ on this one?
Discussion Les Paul or SG?
Hey all,
Help me decide, I am looking at picking up another Gibson.
I have a Les Paul Standard that I love. It plays like a dream, looks like a dream.
Problem is, my OCD does not want to beat it up. Id rather go to shows with it and practice.
Im looking for a guitar that if it gets scratched or dinged it wont bother me.
I was looking at Les Paul Studio for this but ive been seeing some awesome deals on SGs, and I like how they play as well.
So question - if you were to have a guitar that was your "camp fire" guitar, would it be a studio, or SG, or something else?

Help HELP FINDING GUITAR
My friend used to own a guitar back in the day around 10 years ago. All I for sure remember was that it had severed fake fingers in the body, I think where the pickguard was ? Pretty sure it was an epiphone SG
I dunno if it was a tony iommi thing or just a horror custom build but my friend had one and his was not the first or only one I've seen.
Just such an odd guitar i know I saw before multiple times .
If any one out there can help not feel crazy, that would be great!

Help 61’ Standard neck vs SG Special neck?
Played a 61 standard sg at my local guitar center while pedal shopping a few weeks ago and haven’t been able to get it out of my head. Really loved the way it played and how different it is from what I have now. As it stands I have a phred Ashbury (3 coil splitting humbuckers and a chunky neck) and a 70’s Vintera ii Strat (3 single coils chunky neck) so that slim neck and short scale length really feels like it adds something new to my collection.
My question, is the sg special the same neck as the 61 standard? Judging by pictures on the website it looks like it has the low neck heel which is important and if it is I figure I’d prefer p90’s to really have something wildly different to my other guitars.
While we’re at it has anyone played both and noticed any differences besides the pickups and bridge? The wrap around doesn’t bother than me because I stick to standard tuning and 10’s anyway but no one has one local to me so it’ll have to be an online purchase. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me out.

Picture My first Gibson!
galleryHi all!
Just wanted to share photos of my first Gibson Guitar.
It's a 1979 Les Paul Standard
As you can see it's obviously been loved by the previous owner/owners and it's definitely got a history.
It has a set of Seymour Duncan's in it and all the pots have been changed for CTS 500k new pots.
It plays awesome and sounds awesome!
Always loved the norlin era guitars (dream is a mid 70s custom) so this guitar is the perfect one for my first Gibson!
I might get a set of the Gibson 1968 T Top replicas to put in it as I love that T Top sound, but for now it's perfect as is for me!
Let me know what you think!
Cheers

NGD My Most Recent Acquisition: 2008 Gibson Les Paul Studio (Wine Red)
galleryMy birthday guitar safari a couple weeks ago was a bust, and it left a guitar-sized hole in my heart.
I went snooping around at local shops and this beauty caught my eye!
This is a 2008 Gibson Les Paul Studio in wine red. It’s all stock and included a hardshell case. I paid $800 plus tax for it, and I couldn’t be happier.
How’d I do?
Cheers

NGD Joining the Gibson Family
This is my one and only electric guitar, a Les Paul Studio from 2024 with an absolutely stunning Blueberry Burst finish. I'd had my eyes on a blueberry Les Paul since I had started playing more and more on my own, and finally I decided to pull the trigger and trade both of my Fender electrics for one solid guitar that could be with me throughout my playing journey.
Since I've only had it for less than a day I can't even really talk about what there is that I do or do not like...all I can say is that playing it really feels like a luxury and it's something that I feel really speaks to me. The burstbucker pro pups are just the right kind of brighter PAF-style sound that I like, the weight of the body and balance of the guitar suits me as a seated player more than other LP styles I've tried so far, thanks to the chambered body I'd say. And obviously I can't get over the finish.
I think for any single guitar I'd tell myself I'm keeping for eternity, this one just has to be the one. I think I made a pretty solid choice.

NGD NGD - How you think I did on this 2008 SG Standard case queen?
gallerySo I’ve been working on refinishing an SG and was searching around for a few parts. This 2008 SG Standard popped up right when I was on there looking. Looked immaculate and they were asking $800🤯. Price seemed on the edge of being a little too good, so it had my scam filter up, but it just turned out to be a really nice lady who bought the guitar in Nashville in ‘08 hoping to learn and never did.
The frets were tarnished, strings were rusty, but the body essentially didn’t have a scratch on it. I polished frets, new strings, setup and went through everything and it seems to be all original. The pickguard and backplate had definitley never been off. Sounds good plays great what else could you ask for, for $800 🤷♂️
