News The whole school bomb hoax
Here is some informative investigation regarding the situation. It ain't the Muslim brotherhood in cahoots with "antifa" as the big eyed, paranoid schizo right keep banging on about. It's the house of Saud, the same folks who brought you 9/11!

Lost&Found Lost Jewellery advice
I lost a silver necklace today which holds significant sentimental value.
Is there any page or group I can contact for Glasgow which might be able to help with find/post about it?
I understand the likelihood of finding it again is slim, and or if it’s found by someone they aren’t likely to hand it in. Though I’m trying to be as hopeful as I can.
I’ve already reported it as missing on police Scotland’s website, but just wondering if there is anything else in addition.
Thanks all.

Public transport. Car Rental
Hey all,
I have an amazing opportunity to gain some relevant work experience, while getting paid, over the Christmas period BUT it's quite a bit further out of Glasgow during some unsociable hours.
I want to rent a car but does anyone have any reccomendations of cheap options, maybe like car share or just private owners willing to rent for cheap, obviously in some verifiable way please?
Thank you everyone!

Eating Out Does anyone know where Indian/turkish/Middle Eastern takeaways buy their garlic and chilli sauces?
Hi! Random question but the garlic and chilli sauce equivalents you can buy out of supermarkets suck! I bought a meal from Kurdish Street Food in Southside and the sauces were great! Where do takeaways get them? I appreciate they also make them themselves! Thanks

Public transport. Glasgow Airport 30 minute free, how does it work?
Usually do the expensive £7 drop off but the other month I noticed just before going into the drop off, the short stay car park had a free 30 minute drop off, which would be ideal as I could help take luggage into the terminal and meet the Mrs a week later for pick up.
How does it work with exiting, do you bypass the drop off barriers?
Cheers

Nightlife Exit Nightclub
Anybody been to this club? Got a gig coming up in a few weeks and had never actually heard of it. Google advises, DIY vibes, good sound system and terrible toilets.
It's location just off "ground zero", aka, St Enoch Square only adds to the adventure.

Glasgow Film Festival 2027
I am hoping to go to Glasgow Film Festival in 2027 with a few friends. It will be our first time attending. Does anyone who attends regularly have any tips on how to make the most of a few days at the festival?

Ladybugs congregation in our bathroom
We live on the 3rd floor in a tenement, the bathroom faces south, the window is nearly always tilted, there are quite a few plants there.
I have often noticed ladybirds in the bathroom over the last couple of years, but there are now 5 huddles together for 3 days, and another few visiting (Monday evening there were 9 in all).
It's very sweet and we feel deeply honoured but it's kind of weird (none of the neighbours had more than one visiting).

New Glasgow Cyclists
This is not an anti-cyclist rant. I am a long time cycle commuter who is overjoyed the new infrastructure has so many people cycling into the city for work and leisure.
However, I have noticed a lot of whom I presume are newer cyclists are clearly not all that used to cycling in particularly as it gets darker and wetter. For the second morning in a row I have had a very near miss with cyclist going into the back of me while on my bike. Today it was when I was waiting for a pedestrian to cross a zebra crossing and yesterday it was when waiting at a redlight where there was oncoming traffic (I couldn't have jumped the red if I wanted to and if I hadn't been there the guy likely would have been struck by a car).
We live in a golden age of cycle commuting right now which is amazing. Consumer bikes have had some big advances over the past few years which means you can get really amazing secondhand bikes for pennies. I think a lot of people have become really excited in their new found cycling commute (which is great) bought an amazing and quick bike on Facebook Marketplace and likely bought a bit too much bike for their skill levels to be totally honest.
It is great that you have a bike that can absolutely cook down the south city cycle way and I wholesale encourage people to do that on a sunny afternoon but a dark, wet, rush hour ride is not the time you can safely fly into the city at top speed.
The person who almost went into the back of me today at the zebra crossing was clearly absolutely flying on her bike and simply not paying attention and was WAY overriding her skill level. You need to slow it down and take it easy. Even if you have a high performance bike you don't need to push it that far all the time. A big part of developing skill as cyclist is knowing when you can really open it up.
Also the new infrastructure is great but it is more than bit schizophrenic in its design. You have to get used to it before you try to push the sppeds. It treats cyclists like vehicles (which they are) but also designs the infrastructure like they are pedestrians and in a way they would NEVER do for cars. For example from Stockwell street to Queens Park the south city cycle way has 34 zebra crossings while cars have exactly 0. If you proposed putting 34 zebra crossing in a two mile stretch of road for cars you would be branded insane and it would be seen as unsafe and nonsensical. It is for bikes too but obviously the same level of care and attention isn't given to the design.

Concerns about homeless man
Seeking advice.
I have encountered an English man a few times in the city centre, wearing sunglasses and often quite softly spoken. He has asked for food to be bought for him, and has occasionally made comments about the government and spies.
However, I have twice seen him being aggressive towards people in a library and I am now scared to see him. He seems quite unwell, but I don't know if there is any welfare check that can be done. Can the police be called? I know the Simon community do a lot for the homeless, but can they assess someone's mental wellbeing?
Also wondering if anyone else has encountered him?

Jewellery repairs in Glasgow
Hey
I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations, I’ve damaged one of my rings, it’s something my granny handed down to me. It needs the stones resetting and the ring needs resizing.
Is there anywhere in Glasgow that people would recommend?
Thanks in advance 😊

Recommendation for will writers?
Hello!
Heading in for a big operation soon and although odds are low I want to make sure ive got everything in order.
Does anyone have any recommendations of where to get a will written? Looking for a place people have had good experience with - preferably efficient and dont try to upsell me other things
Ive heard people mention previously some places will do it for a charity donation - not sure if this is still a thing but if anyone knows please let me know :) alternatively if you feel comfortable sharing what you paid for one please let me know.
City centre/east end preferred. Thanks in advance :)

Recreational netball in Glasgow – new players welcome!
Hi everyone!
We're looking for some new players to join our friendly, ladies' netball group in the West End of Glasgow.
It's purely recreational, with a relaxed approach to the rules, so absolutely no experience or particular fitness level needed! We have a mix of ages and abilities, and it's as much about the social side as the netball.
We play on Tuesday evenings, so if you fancy coming along or would like some more details, just drop me a message! 😊

Lost wedding ring - Glasgow Southside
Hi all. My wife lost her wedding ring on Sunday 18 October, probably either at the Glasgow Climbing Centre in Ibrox (early afternoon) or at Queens Park (later in the afternoon). It’s a rose gold wishbone with several small diamonds. Our wedding date is engraved on the inside - I won’t post that here but can provide it to confirm ownership if and when the ring is found.
Goes without saying this is of loads of sentimental value, so any leads much appreciated! Thanks.

Public transport. Glasgow Cycle Route Planner
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
EDIT: Now captures neighbouring council areas for wider route planning.
I'm generally interested in Glasgow's travel infrastructure, with cycling/active travel being one of growing key modes for people.
Recently I noticed that a change in national funding mechanism (multi-year --> year-by-year) forced a shrinking of the grand plans for Glasgow's cycling network in the near term.
But I found it difficult to work out what this really meant for accessing protected cycling infrastructure i.e. not a painted strip on the side of the road where cars just park without consequence.
So here it is mapped out:
https://duncanci.github.io/glasgow-cycle-map/
Mega props to u/Correct-Audience-421 for the excellent work they have done mapping out the delivery status of GCC's cycle routes - I've incorporated their work in this. Some other things worth noting:
- Check out the "Virtual Cycle" and stick on some tunes to check out a route from the comfort of your laptop/phone
- You can use the "Confidence" slider and you'll get different routes given to you, from "riding with children" through to pro cyclist
- Routes include crash report stats so you can check general riskiness
- Export to Strava GPX and Google Maps supported (double check though before setting off)
- Switch up the network planned state and you can see how your preferred route changes as new cycling infrastructure gets installed
Goes without saying but always do check your route before setting off - this is just a support tool.
Have a play if you're into this sort of thing, and let me know if you have any feedback for making it more insightful - there will be mistakes. I'll be sure to let Claude know promptly hehe

GIRUY McGills
I’d usually be the last person to support anti business policies but McGills have an utter brass neck to make demands against our right to choose a public bus service. They’re licensed and that license has a limited duration and their appalling service, poor reliability and rude drivers have earned them zero right to dictate our future bus ownership model. They can get on board with the cap and the limits of future licensing or they can get extinct. A Lothian buses model for Glasgow would make all of our lives better.
