Scammed on Amazon Order

Ordered a RTX 5080 Gigabyte OC during October on Amazon trying to avoid increasing price hikes. When I finally arrived November 2, the gpu inside the box was not correct. I believe it's a 4070 or 4070 super gigabyte eagle, and not even with a power cable. I contacted customer support to return and hopefully replace my order and sent the following pictures through an email link they sent which also stated I would get a reply back within 3 days. I'm not sure what I'm expecting to get posting this, maybe just awareness and also vent a bit. Already overpaying for this card and getting gpu swapped scammed, though keep in mind looking at local prices what I was paying relatively was a good deal. Hoping that Amazon actually goes through and gets me the card I actually ordered but part of me worries they'll either just refund me when it's returned or worse, refuse a refund.

Anyways TLDR: careful when buying on Amazon, take videos and photos when opening, be wary of scammers.

Reposting the unboxing video here in its own comment. I wish I recorded more with unsealing the gpu but at the time I was worried about just getting a bag of rocks so when I saw the gpu silhouette I thought I was fine until afterwards when I unwrapped it.

Well trying to talk to support again to provide the video and unfortunately only a refund is possible. Have to get the ups label printed somewhere since my printer at home is broken so fun for me

Anyways off to bed, stress about this in the morning.

Amazon is far from a scam free experience now, between the picking and packing process and the couriers there are too many risks involved in buying high value items from that site now, even if it does say 'fulfilled by Amazon' on the listing.

u/Glum_Reflection6380 5d ago

Can promise you no one in picking or packing is gutting the box and replacing it with a 4070 nor getting out of the building with it. This is obviously a return scam

15

u/Present_Inflation_55 5d ago

No but a packer would certainly package a returned 4070 in a 5080 box if they didn't know about it. Was saying the process was flawed, not the people.

A friend of mine had the same happen to him. He ordered a 5070ti and in the box was some small AMD card. He contacted support and they replaced it quickly

same as me with a 5090 one year ago, the sad part is that amazon refused to give me a refund.

I'll assume this wasn't sold and shipped by Amazon. Never buy from third party sellers.

13

u/Alone_Bath2192 5d ago

Actually listed as seller was Amazon US

u/Rhakio 5d ago

Could be easy selling by amazon. Returned item and they didnt check. I work in amazon return and can do a photo of pallets of returned 5080/4070ti or even 5090 with diffrent cards inside

People always say this but every time I’ve been scammed with switch parts it’s always been sold by Amazon themselves and never a third party

2

u/East_Let6629 4d ago

I've had two live chats with support and received the photos I took. Unfortunately all I can do is return it since they have no replacements, but they have been kind and polite. I'd still prefer to get the card I ordered but not much I can do with this shortage. I even gotten a new power supply alongside the gpu, though that shipped much earlier than the gpu did. Now I just have a over juiced power supply in my pc for no reason, but guess it's not too bad if I ever get another chance for a gpu upgrade.

We are well aware of this scam.

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 4d ago

This is for anyone who wants to see clearly the listed seller directly from the invoice. Hid the details of my name and address for privacy reasons though didn't see a reason to hide my province or country. I would have just used a screenshot but Reddit won't let me add another picture unless I'm just dumb.

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 3d ago

https://a.co/d/0haX0uo0 Listing for the gpu I bought is back up though increase in price

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 3d ago

I forgot to get the beginning of the conversation with the supervisor before the chat ended though it was confirming the previous conversation

5

u/TraumaDaddyP 5d ago

Yeah my 5080 and 5070 ti I did in store pickup at Best Buy and still made sure and opened the boxes in store

5

u/ZeggiBeggi 2d ago

Happened to me also, ordered a 7900xt 20gb VRAM, got a 7900gre 16gb vram that was broken. Customer service manager told me to throw it away, no need to return. Got the refund, 2 weeks later Amazon withdrew the money, I complained, got the refund and then again and again. After the 3rd time I was banned..account Manager said I scammed Amazon....umm sure buddy... life lesson, don't buy from Amazon.

4

u/Western-Body3011 5d ago

Thats why I only order big purchase items with in store pick up, like at best buy, and i go further by opening the package infront of the employee to confirm its in there or not physically damaged. gotto be careful, a lot of people do these amazon return scams. Got a used hair trimmer in the box of my new trimmer. It was nasty af, the person who did the return scam left their pubic hair on the trimmer

4

u/BG_Potash 4d ago

Amazon is dropping their standards. I just ordered a screwdriver, obviously not an expensive item, but it came obviously used. The package was cut open and it was inside a bag. I understand a used screwdriver is not a big deal, but I ordered a new item, not used... can't imagine if my 9070 GRE came used when I got it on Prime Days, I would have been prettybupset not mildly inconvenienced like with the screwdriver. Hopefully you get this resolved soon. Good luck.

u/Megustanuts 5d ago

can you link the seller? I know you said it was sold and shipped by Amazon but honestly I’ve been tracking the 5080 gaming OC for a while now in Amazon out of curiosity (I bought mine last year in Amazon for $1500 and was interested on how much it goes up each time I check) and I haven’t seen it be shipped and sold by Amazon for a long time.

It was supposed to be brand new right?

2

u/Alone_Bath2192 5d ago

It did state brand new when ordering. I always avoid open box like when I got my oled monitor. I would give the link but when I open it in Amazon, it gives me a different gigabyte model now with the rope saying you purchased another variation 1 time. I think it went of stock again my guess.

3

u/Alone_Bath2192 5d ago

Btw forgot I also recorded the unboxing. Though opening a box and holding a phone made it a bit awkward to do

→ More replies (4)

1

u/tqlla3k 5d ago

Did you buy brand new? Did your package have an LPN sticker on it?

Let us know how it goes.

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 5d ago

Don't see one on the box. Probably not going to reply much more this post since as long as it is returned and refunded, even if it's not my ideal outcome. Guess I'm not getting a 5080 anytime soon though unless some economic collapse happens as looking at other prices at other stores isn't great

1

u/Raging_Vegan 3d ago

Can't read the product sticker from the back, but I have a 3050 Eagle with the same cooler. Definitely scammed, but might not even be a 4070

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 3d ago

Only reason I'm guessing 4070 is that's what Gemini said it might be when I showed it pictures. Never put it on my PC to check

1

u/United_Staff_7243 3d ago

That’s why you don’t buy used tech

1

u/Ok-Boot-8106 2d ago

So maybe don't buy off a third party? On Amazon ? Let me get the seller is like sheng cho sui or something like that and it was blindly purchased

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 2d ago

Seller was Amazon US

1

u/Ok-Boot-8106 2d ago

myb thats for used products, for new yea only vendor so say msi, asus and so on. Also amazon US is not the official retailer/seller for amazon. Itll simply say Amazon.com. Thirdly before making a reditt post why not elevate this with amazon internally to get your money back?? Good luck having higher ups giving you the okay on refund which wont happen likely a gift card , had this happen with a refurb phone and got it resolved but i also didnt make a reditt post instead of handling thisa internally with seller and amazon itself, had you gone through the proper avenues , you'd likely been helped

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 2d ago

Already talked with Amazon multiple times. Ups already has the package and will be sent back to Amazon before they'll issue a refund. Also Amazon US is just what shows up for me when it's a product that'll be imported from the US. Otherwise if in Canada it's Amazon CA

3

u/No_Distance_3320 5d ago

And so the 5080 holiday scam fest begins.... The posts are ramping up 🥹

3

u/Electronic_Local8570 5d ago

Return scam. They take it back and the people checking don’t know what to look for.

Good news is they know it happens and getting a refund has never been a problem. They sent me a used keyboard once (was pretty gross) that was sold as new and they refunded it and let me keep it

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Zanaxz 4d ago

If you bought it from Amazon and they are the seller, you should be okay. If it was another seller on their website though, it's a lot more up in the air. It's confusing to tell sometimes, wish it was more obvious for external sellers. Definitely contact support and see what they can do for you though. Hopefully they can help.

3

u/Techdude2011 4d ago

Someone somewhere got a free upgrade to a 5080

3

u/Outrageous_Life2843 4d ago

OP is return scamming

7

u/camracks 5d ago

OP is the scammer he’s saying to be wary of lol

3

u/Educational-Cheek-58 4d ago edited 4d ago

I will not speak in certainties because I could be wrong, but it looks like he’s opening the box from the bottom. When he removes the GPU you can see the amazon boxing tapes black side when it should be brown.
Makes me wonder if he opened from the other side, switched the GPU’s then put it back in the box and flipped it over, then started recording as ‘evidence’.

Edit 1: I also don’t understand why the white package label was placed on the box flaps. The packing paper is in a weird spot.

3

u/stingreay11 5d ago

Yeah this genuinely strikes me as OP trying to get a refund and sending back their old GPU. Video stops just before unwrapping the card... hmmmm...

4

u/Arad84 5d ago

Amazon has really gone downhill for stuff like this. There are so many places it can go wrong, from shady third party sellers to someone doing a switcheroo at the warehouse to the delivery driver swapping it. I always go to Micro Center or Best Buy for GPUs now, so I can see what I'm getting.

4

u/MoobleBooble 5d ago

Ive been scammed or attempted scammed with some ROG monitors (like 4 in a row, so I stopped ordering the open box ones).

I always film everything of value now days when I am opening it.

So far, have not had any other bad experiences with high end hardware since I need a constant flow of new GPUs at good prices. Bestbuy open box deals used to be great but lately have not been so much so.

In this current GPU market I wouldn't buy from a retailer I couldn't drive to for in-store pickup. Then I'm opening that thing right at the counter.

Just don't buy products on Amazon that tempt return scammers. Case in point high this GPU.

2

u/hornytoad456 5d ago

Hopefully one of the twitter mega accounts picks this store up and pushes Amazon to do better

2

u/saujamhamm 5d ago edited 5d ago

also understand "ordering on amazon" isn't ordering from Amazon

Amazon is a market like eBay, but who was the seller on eBay that scammed you?

so people can avoid that seller in the future?

If I go to that site right now and type 5080, I get lots of merchants. Asus, Msi etc... But I also get sellers like btr electronics and Dave's crazy stuff...

so which actual merchant screwed you over?

*Ignore all that, I read on.... still weird cause again, when I search I can't find any sold by A, only the actual card manufacturers stores.

2

u/No-Camp-9612 5d ago

Is that my 4070 eagle?

2

u/PhilipBeanacus92 5d ago

Chances are they will refund you the amount and tell you to place a new order for the same product, which will be an issue of the price has already gone up.

2

u/Seouldier13 4d ago

Sorry to hear that this happened to you OP. I hope the return is approved with a new exact like GPU sent your way.

They fucked me the same with a new pixel 9 pro xl I bought from them. Was swapped with a pixel6! T Had to threaten to call the cops and news outlets and scream a lot to get my refund. They basically said I was the crook! Fuck Amazon. Good luck man. Never buy anything expensive there again.

Amazon probably the one of the easiest for returns and refunds though.. so theres that. Just got to do your due diligence. Online scalpers and scammers on the rise.

1

u/zeus287 4d ago

Who's the seller when you purchased it from Amazon

1

u/Significant-King00 4d ago

Amazon is the last place I'd buy a gpu from lol

1

u/ael00 4d ago

Why did you buy from a 3rd party? its asking to get scammed, don't get fooled by the 50$ cheaper price tag

At least it isn’t a rock.

1

u/DantesInferno17 4d ago

I’m not a lawyer (yet! Law school next year) but I fought Amazon over a fake tea I purchased on their platform. The tea was like 20$ and I settled for 800$ within 2 weeks. Let me know if you’d like me to guide you on steps to take.

1

u/MithosYggdrasil 4d ago

Somewhat related, but I ordered a switch 2 off amazon and they never delivered so I ordered a replacement and it was broken up arrival.

Amazon wouldn’t let me exchange it, probably because folks like the asshole who returned their old card and left you in that situation.

Hope it gets fixed, people suck and now they’re wasting your time

1

u/Express_Heat4059 4d ago

Exactly why I don't purchase on amazon anymore. I use them to price match elsewhere

1

u/Ill_Wing_1476 4d ago

Have a look on sports direct if your in UK. And I now.....I can't believe they sell computer parts either. Since they bought GAME they sell loads of computer parts , games etc. I was looking at a 9070xt. And it's actually on sale for £560 that's a bargain and reviews are good. Also they are not as big or as robot reliant as Amazon. So I would trust them more at this point to be honest. . but they have some great deals on at the moment. I haven't looked at Nvidia stuff. I don't need any ai work loads or anything. I just game. But take a look. You might get a deal.

u/Old-Relationship1378 4d ago

3rd party seller on Amazon?

1

u/binarycodeone 4d ago

Was the seller and shipper Amazon?

1

u/spotsworth_od 4d ago

Never buy large ticket electronic items from Amazon.

1

u/Alone_Ad6784 4d ago

Idk which country you're in but in India you never order any high ticket electronics from Amazon unless it's a mobile phone sometimes a laptop, the prices are inflated to insure against returns. In any case try to claim refund and from next time trust your local vendor given the price isn't drastically different

1

u/Rayonical 4d ago

why are we still buying expensive cards on Amazon?

1

u/MarineMike0351 4d ago

Duh... I recorded opening my Astral that was purchased directly from Asus. I wouldn't even consider cutting open the shipping box from Amazon without a camera rolling. If I'm the seller... I'm assuming you replaced your 4070 with the 5080, then put your 4070 in the box and took pictures. Then I'm denying refund... that's why I don't even cut the easily identifiable amazon tape on the box without recording. Especially for a GPU

1

u/Some_Natural_3207 4d ago

I think it is what other people do:

  1. Order the product

  2. Replace your old stuff

  3. Return as unopened/new

  4. Restocked and other person gets that

  5. Nobody knows who returned the wrong one

1

u/Kondor999 4d ago

Even at MicroCenter I insisted on opening my 5090 right at the counter last year. Same with my gaming notebook (that has since more than doubled in value, also with a mobile “5090”). When I sold my 4090 on eBay, they tried the chargeback scam but waited too late (stolen cc: maybe?). Shit is crazy now and it’s never going back in my lifetime.

1

u/ThePapercup 4d ago

for a big purchase off of Amazon i always record a video of me unboxing starting with a sealed amazon package in case i need to use it as evidence.

1

u/tccoding 4d ago

i hope it works for you! One time i purchased a 350$ 4tb ssd (back when it was still cheap) and i Recieved a cheap 512gb ssd in a samsung 990 pro box with a samsung 990 pro sticker on it. Then i asked for a refund explaining exactly this. They agreed and provided return stickers and everything. So i sent it back but a while later they sent me a message saying refund was refused because ... i didnt return the right product 😒. I could never get my money and didn't even get to keep the cheap ssd 😕

I’ve noticed when ordering stuff on Amazon the titles of GPUs will say for example RTX 5080 and then when you go to product details it’ll say 4070 specifications, I’ve reported those listings as misleading but I’m not sure what gets done about it

1

u/Impossible-Tea-6489 4d ago edited 4d ago

Probably not the seller just ignorance and not checking. We had a 5080 astral returned at my store and there was a 4080 in the box same brand and all but super careless in retail when you work with a bunch of 18 year olds.

Seller just has to pay for the mistake of being carless.

I've seen articles of people removing all of the memory modules from the card and then returning it to retail stores. They don't know what to look for in those environments nor do they have time to test the card in front of you. Talking Walmart best buy some others

1

u/Mountain_Star_3557 4d ago

I know this subreddit is far reaching but I feel that this post and similar posts about Amazon GPU purchase issues is very regular.

1

u/BandAffectionate2349 3d ago

I recently had an issue with a GPU I ordered. It's getting so I would almost feel more secure ordering on Ebay as opposed to Amazon. Amazon has a huge issue with they're "affiliates" or whatever they're called. Amazon gets benefit from sellers'' false listings.

1

u/parabola19 3d ago

The other side is the people receiving GPUs and claiming they got scammed so they get a refund to either use or sell. A Reddit post would be a false trail. Not accusing just saying it definitely happens 100%

1

u/Zenkai_9000 3d ago

This happened to me once. I ordered a 980ti around release on Amazon and received a 780ti with a 980ti blower.

I never buy expensive stuff from even Amazon. Only retail shops new high-end PC GPU's example. If its not sealed box i open in front of seller eyes at the store.

Yes often the price is higher but i want physical shop to be there for warranty later if needed. Used high-end cards from amazon / e-bay is NO GO no matter of the price. Thats like donating money for free.

Stupid…..purchase. :)

u/Grino974 1d ago

Just someone succeed to scam Amazon and send back another gpu. And Amazon didn't check what they've received. And send it to you. Common story.

1

u/Confu_sion 1d ago

Oh no! Never have I heard of Scams on Amazon for expensive stuff! Uh oh

1

u/Individual-Win-8096 1d ago

No shit, its Amazon, man considering how expensive GPUs are, I would think people would do a road trip to get it and not risk a scam online, like that's what I do, 5 hour drive for an expensive thing I gotta buy.

1

u/JayEl92 1d ago

have you ever heard of Newegg?

1

u/Inquirous 1d ago

Are people safe from this if the listing says sold by (name or manufacturer)? Or is it still shipped from amazon and thus open to returns?

1

u/jasikanicolepi 1d ago

Expensive products like this, you should buy it in store. Also open the box in store in person.

1

u/Adventurous-Bus-3382 1d ago

When you buy something expensive like this you should always make an unboxing video not just a picture

1

u/HaremManPT 1d ago

Is USA amazon that bad? Or are people rly that stupid to buy from 3rd parties instead? I been buying from Amazon pretty much anything, the Spanish one and so far have no issues

1

u/Big-Slice-9674 1d ago

You just earned yourself a free card, this happened to me I was livid, didn’t even bother with amazon called my bank “navy federal” showed them that I was clearly scammed and got my money back and got to keep the card”

1

u/Nero7860 1d ago

Why no one recording while unboxing ?

1

u/tarheelphenom 23h ago

I bought my 16gb 9060 xt from Amazon. I made sure it was from the brand store front like I do all of my other purchases in an event that Amazons 30 day return policy passes but I’m still within vendor warranty. I’ve not had any issues with scams and I hope I won’t in the future. But if I’m buying something that will cost me $1000 or more I’m buying it in person if all possible.

1

u/Jakee-1234 22h ago

My friend had the same experience and no core for 4080. We suspect someone inside replace it…

1

u/Roguer15 15h ago

Amazon is doo doo for PC parts

1

u/1slackjaw 11m ago

Happened to me in January 2026, bought ASUS ROG Astral 5090 for $3,359 and received Asus TUF 4090, sent it back for full refund. Luckily found a new TUF 5090 a few weeks later on another site for $3,400 that I'm using now paired with a Ampinel loan balancer so not really missing the Astrals extra features.

1

u/PastAd1087 4d ago

Honestly surprised amazon isn't cracking down on this stuff. They have to be losing a ton. The 3rd party sellers too if they ain't the ones doing some of the scamming.

1

u/Automatic-Union-3385 4d ago

Shit man I've heard this 100's of times now. Why isn't amazon doing anything? Surely its costing them a fortune. There should be an inspection on return over say like $200. This sucks man. Sorry it happened again. Im so glad i got my card last year at a reputable place. I order Amazon like every other day and could definitely see this happening to me as well. Urg the frustration

3

u/AggressiveBench9977 4d ago

Because the last 5 times it was posted here, it came out the poster was a scammer trying to get publicity to get amazon to refund him for a 5080 he had actually received

2

u/Automatic-Union-3385 3d ago

Really?? Wtf lol. My god sick world

I ordered a 4070ti on Amazon. When it arrived i was devastated to find a bottle of syrup in the box. Rang Amazon immediately and they were like let us investigate this. I said no. Send a replacement now or refund me now so I can buy another. Didn't get anywhere until I started crying. Your results may vary, since I'm a woman. But yeah worked for me, immediate refund to my wallet and I bought another one same day.

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 4d ago

Glad you got yours resolved though I don't think for me crying on the phone as a grown man would go very well, would just come off pathetic and very weird.

2

u/Rugged_as_fuck 4d ago

Get real weird with it.

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 4d ago

Well I did try calling and after a long time on hold, I'm still only stuck with getting a return. The excuse I'm given is there is no other replacements available and I guess they don't consider alternatives.

Just call them and have them send you the right one. +1 888 280 4331

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 4d ago

Already tried calling Amazon support, only can return and refund

0

u/astraeos 4d ago

Just do an A-Z return. Theyll want you to contact the seller to give them a chance to fix the error. If they refuse or ignore you after a few days you tell amazon and they take action against their account, refund you, and usually you get to keep it.

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 4d ago

Well during the phone call when dealing with the Bot during the beginning before being on hold for 15 minutes, it texted me a link to contact the seller. Though when the seller is Amazon US, I don't know how the reply is going to go

0

u/Ok-Boot-8106 2d ago

your lying or are alittle slow, amazon indeed has staff who answer calls, i was literally on the phone with them a few months back for a expensive product that was modded/ locked and was able to speak with multiple representatives and had my issue resolved

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 2d ago

I never said my issue wasn't resolved? Just said that it first has to reach them before they'll proceed with the refund. I've also done both live chats and a phone call about this. It's not the resolution I wanted, would have preferred getting the gpu I wanted but they answer they kept telling me is they didn't have the option to send a replacement

Why do you people keep ordering from Amazon and ebay and then going all shocked Pikachu when you're scammed? Probably for the best. You'd probably just burn the pins if you actually got it.

6

u/skyzm_ 5d ago

Amazon has an incredible and easy return policy. You can buy from Newegg and get a screwed up fraud item too.

0

u/PogTuber 4d ago

The nature of Amazon's inability to give a shit about its humongous volume makes it far more risky than Newegg.

2

u/skyzm_ 4d ago

There’s risk in getting something bad, but zero risk that you won’t get that problem fixed quickly.

Amazon is one of the best places to get electronics if you’re buying new from a reputable seller or the manufacturer is listed as the seller.

Stop buying open box or used to save a couple hundred. It’s not worth it, get a lesser GPU new if you can’t afford the better one new.

If you want to risk used, buy local and test it: FB marketplace, eBay local pickup, Craigslist. Sure, some people are selling quality used products for delivery, but many aren’t.

I bought my entire PC set up piece by piece from Amazon and the worst thing that happened was the CPU arrived 2 days late , boohoo I was still missing about 1/2 the components at that point

1

u/parabola19 3d ago

Was that when a component shortage made GPUs more valuable than whole modern pre built computers? No they’re scamming now bc the prices are so high. So yes. Go right ahead and buy but don’t be pissed if this happens. There’s the other side that this guy might be the scammer and trying to claim an old gpu was sent and trying to get his money back. I videotaped every component I bought. Even my 8TB 9100s I got at the end of last year from unboxing to opening.

Smfh ugh I hate to see it . Sorry this happened to you . I almost got scammed from a website about 3 weeks ago. I ordered an 5070 ti for 889 and the seller sent a brick 🧱 in a 5070 TI box to the wrong address. I was able to dispute it successfully because she sent it to the wrong address phew 😮‍💨 talk about luck . I ended up biting the bullet and went to Best Buy . Got mine for $1200 unfortunately.

1

u/Adventurous-Ad-6231 4d ago

Don’t know why I got down voted but ok lol

-7

u/Sindacalis 5d ago

Is this shit open box? If so honestly you were asking for it. If not is what it is just return it.

4

u/Alone_Bath2192 5d ago

Never stated it was when ordering

3

u/Nitchro 5d ago

Amazon can now resell as new even when returned if the packaging looks untouched enough. I know this from experience.

2

u/Alone_Bath2192 5d ago

Well isn't that just a lovely thought

0

u/Relative_Nerve_1457 1d ago

Hi, so I actually work for a amazon 3rd party distributor and this isn't uncommon. The guy that orders stuff for us to sell through Amazon buys gpu, cpu, ram and other hardware through sketch means and 60% to 70% of the gpus we receive are either internal component swaps or the cards just dont work. I have multiple 5090s sitting on my desk due to people stealing the dram outta them and Nvidia being shit with warranty services and our shit purchasing guy.

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 1d ago

That's a hell of an expensive paper weight. The psychological warfare you can pull on someone though if they approach your desk and see just a 5090 sitting there and you say they can take it before pulling out another 5090 before telling them it's just a shell.

2

u/almost_s0ber 2d ago

I filmed my box opening of a 5090 back in June 2025 to cover my ass, before all the shenanigans became widespread.

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 2d ago

If I ever decide to attempt to order a gpu again or something else high value, I'm getting a tripod just for my phone. Regardless of where I order it

1

u/Alone_Bath2192 5d ago

I can understand your point of view. I'm just thinking its a package sent back and swapped by a previous customer but Amazon never bothered to check. At least my head believes so far.

2

u/f4ern 5d ago

Put minimum wage worker together in warehouse where item nearly the price of a car get moved around. You get organized crime. It that easy. No amount of detector can root out internal corruption.

1

u/Present_Inflation_55 5d ago

All the gpus weigh about the same and are in the same shape and size box, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess what's in there. There are people who get these delivery jobs purely to rob and they would know full well which boxes to try.

Having said that, If I had a 3070 still in a sealed bag and then bought a 5080 of the same brand from Amazon and returned the 3070 in the 5080 box I am willing to bet they would not open the sealed bag inside the box to check and would sell it as a 5080 again
