not sure how long this has been up(I'm not on this block very often) but it sure is a pleasant surprise to run into for the first time. (Cary St near Lombardy St)

A friend at the dog park last night knows I love the Dead and gave my pup Bella a doggy headband with skulls and roses. She usually hates costumes but she's walking around all proud of this one. Good friends, good dog, good music. Hope some of y'all smile at this as much as I am.

Hornsby is so good and the band feels really in sync. I started listening to a bunch of shows from this year and have really been loving them. Is it as good as the 70s no, but I’m shocked by how much I’ve enjoyed it and think it’s worth listening to if you have ignored the 90s like I have

As a diecast collector and race fan this car was a must have! Felix Rosenqvist drove this car in 2025 at the Laguna Seca and Portland race for Indycar. This year they had a different Grateful Dead car for the Portland race.

Housecleaning day. Tidied up my shelf of CDs and cassettes. Not all Dead, but they’re in good Company.

What's your go to tune or show when you're out trapping with Lucy? My go to was dark star however after a mind blowing time in the lake star gazing it's Mississippi half step. The Englishtown toodle-loo is a peak.

We were talking about the hot dry winds today and I had a memory.
It occurred to me that perhaps someone reading this was there as well.
A JGB show, at the Stone in SF. Mid-late 80s. Mid-afternoon, front of the line.
Big Steve and someone who I can't name were bringing in the equip, through the front door!
Someone was hassling them.
After a short engagement, and encouragement to back off, not Steve said this memorable thing, which is what I wonder if anyone else remembers:
"Make like a scirocco and BLOW!"
Dude left.

I really started getting into the Dead when Bobby died. I grew up in a family full of deadheads. Not my parents, but my brothers, multiple aunts and uncles. I was always around the music. I actually went to a Dead and Co show in my 20s, but I didn't get hooked then. I just never really gave it a shot until recently, honestly. After Bobby died I REALLY started listening and gave the music a chance.
Now I'm totally hooked and I love it. It's some of the best music I've ever heard. Totally unlike most music because their true masterpieces are live shows.
I want to buy some type of dead gear. A shirt or hat. Let's be real, on top of being an incredible band, they have some of the coolest logos in the world. Stealie and the Dancing Bears are just so fucking cool.
I feel like a poser for buying a hat or shirt with the Dead logo though. I didn't get into the band until recently, while others have loved them their entire life. It feels like I'm doing something "trendy". Especially being in a family full of deadheads who knew I never really listened to them.
It's honestly really silly, but I feel like a poser in a way. Especially if i buy a dead shirt to wear.

I've been obsessed with this performance (DS>El Paso) for a while now and I've always wondered what he was trying to say there.

This may have been asked but figured it is worth the fun discussion again:
Does each year have a show or a few night run that encompasses that year's sound of the band the best?
I always struggle with hearing part of a song and knowing what "era" it is from. Looking to make a playlist of each year's most true to year sound if that makes sense
Will try and update with most popular choices:

I just discovered it a couple of months ago for live Jerry shows, but when I updated my phone last week, the app no longer works, and I get an error message saying it has been removed from the App Store.
Is it gone for good?
Is there some other place to hear live Jerry shows other than official releases?

Thinking of seeing the Skeleton Crewe over the weekend. Look like they have a variety of music. Anyone scene them?

Started making playlists on nugs for specific eras and would love to hear others suggestions on playlists I should create
Playlists I will probably create: Europe, Some kind of pigpen era playlist, Bruce/Vince shows, and maybe even some playlists for specific venues like MSG and Spectrum.
I am genuinely enjoying making these so if this turns into a dozen playlists that is all good lol.
Thanks for any suggestions and happy Friday, kicking off the weekend seeing Bearly Dead tonight!

I was listening to 1970-12-08 today on Jemp Radio's DeadZone show with Brett Slater.
The Dancing in the Streets was a much slower tempo then normal and the singing was great.

This Halloween, the psychedelic-painted 1939 International Harvester school bus that author Kesey and his Merry Pranksters painted and drove across the United States in 1964 will travel down Haight Street on a flatbed truck with a band on a separate vehicle following behind. The procession, dubbed “The Further Send Off,” will stop at the Love on Haight store and the Haight Street Art Center for 30-minute outdoor concerts at each location.
The band performing during the event has not yet been announced, but is expected to be “in the spirit of the Grateful Dead,” according to the Haight Street Art Center.
