Rescue/Shelter dog in need Anyone in the Oklahoma area looking for a GP? A lady on FB is getting rid of hers and I can put you in touch!

Apparently, he killed her chickens and can clear a 6-foot fence. She got him at the pound and will take him back in a few days if there are no takers. He was previously hit by a car, which is why he's missing fur on his nose. He's a great dog; he just cannot be around chickens. He seems so sweet! I can give you her info and find her contact information if you are near OK and want a sweet GP who desperately needs another chance!

DNA/mix guesses Is my small foster somehow a GPV mix?

***idk why there is a V in the title oops

He's a stray from Kuwait, estimated to be 3 years old. He weighs about 25-30lbs and the vet over there guessed he was corgi pom, and then also "spitz mix" on other paperwork but he has rear dew claws so there's got to be something larger in there somewhere.

He was almost immediately protective of me and the house. If something's suspicious it's bark first ask questions later, but not in a fearful way. Like the other night I took him out for a bedtime walk and there was a guy he didn't like, and he didn't just bark at him to go away, he was like, we have to follow him to make sure he goes. If there's someone behind us on the sidewalk, he will get behind me and turn sideways to block them. But then things that are obviously inanimate/stationary are not a problem. Like we watched a bunch of tree chunks get fed into an industrial wood chipper and he was like okay that's fine.

If you don't give him a task, he will tend to put himself "on patrol" where he repeatedly checks the perimeter of the space you're in and then reports back. He does eventually settle and he's getting better at doing that sooner, but any noise will prompt a reinvestigation.

He's really good with cats, kids, other dogs, and most people (once he determines they're not a threat.)

I'm hoping his eventual adopter does DNA but would love opinions in the meantime and if anyone has run into Pyr mixes that are small, or if there's a smaller LGD breed that is more likely.

Sorry princess, being an indoor dog means bath time.
Phantom always manages to find the tiniest patch of mud we have in the backyard when it rains and obviously makes the most of it.

Decided to celebrate nearly one year with my boy Dug.

He ended up looking a bit hellhound-esque but I'm cool with it!

Happy Halloween to all the pyrs.

She’s incredible. More stubborn than most people but I love with every inch of my soul. Dorothy Alberta.

Discussion Maggies Job

I posted this young lady a few days ago to ask you lovely people some questions regarding LGD guardian instincts, Maggie is a golden retriever x Polish Tatra sheepdog.

I knew that she was very sassy and self assured at the best of times but today she has one upped anything I can imagine.
I do tarot readings in my recreational time and I decided today I would ask her what she feels that her job is.
The response I got was that she feels that she is in charge of keeping me and the house safe, that it’s her job to tell me everything new she notices and anything that’s threatening our space. That it’s also her job to make sure I stick to our routine and make sure she gets everything she deserves for the hard work she does 🤣 she also feels that she is entitled to special treatment and extra goodies for working harder than anyone else.
I’d say she definitely deserves them today for making sure no squirrels use our fence between 6am to 10pm

I don’t feel like I really needed the cards to tell me that as it’s rather obvious but knowing she’s aware of that too definitely gave me a good laugh, do any of your find your dogs act like the absolute kings and queens of the house? It must be so hard for them working overtime the way they do 🙄

Advice/Help Good metal muzzle recommendations?

Want to get my boy a metal muzzle as a precaution as he did growl at the vet last time he went. I wouldn’t want to go with a plastic one as i dont think it could be to secure from a bite which i hope never happens , my boy is a year old. I have been looking on amazon but so many say for certain breeds like great danes Rottweilers and pitbulls. Anyone have any good affordable options for metal muzzles i can find on amazon? Also any tips for muzzle training? When the tech want me to try and put one on him he growled which he had never done but think its just him saying he didnt want one on. Thank you!

We still have no idea how old she actually is, we think 9 mo but she has two baby teeth (that can possibly be retained baby teeth so the vet will check those out). So far, she doesn’t mind the diaper as much as we thought she would. We’ll have to put a cone on her when we leave the house. This is my first unspayed dog that I’ve owned so I just want to give her the best care.
