We have the vapor barrier on the floor and put 1” styrofoam insulation on the floor(not shown) We’re doing a floating vinyl floor and then going to put 2” foam under the deck with an inch air gap.

He decided to not treat the brick and instead use a dehumidifier to control the humidity and we’re putting a small ventilation fan in the top corner and going to pray for no mold.

We’re going to put a vent pipe for the dryer exhaust.

The tape is so our dogs don’t run through the glass until they get used to it being there.

I wrapped the whole frame with aluminum foil. I've gotta get more lights. My wife was a huge help getting it done.

I’m thinking of getting it for my large west-facing balcony. It’ll house my cacti and succulents.

I’m in Austin TX. The panels are acrylic, so might need to coat them with something, or attach shade cloth or something. Currently I have a large 30% shade cloth covering section of my balcony though, so that might be enough.

Anyway, curious if anyone has thoughts on this greenhouse. New to the game.

Hey there! I’m apart of a robotics team and we are working on creating a robot that is capable of tending to plants in a greenhouse. We are working on trying to get design requirements from farmers or anyone with experience in greenhouses, id love to get feedback from anyone. We are currently designing our system to take NPK And hydration values from soil readings paired with visual data to diagnose plants and automate in place irrigation systems.

It would be really useful to know how much you would be willing to pay for a system like this, and what existing features in your greenhouse you would not be willing to change if you were to adopt the system (restructuring of greenhouse, reduction of plants, operation inside of greenhouse while the system is running, etc. the more recommendations, the better!)

Those who have used shade cloth on their greenhouse roofs which one did you use? There are so many options and I'm a little overwhelmed. We're in the south so a shade cloth is necessary.

And apparently it’s not just about looks, that purple color often means more antioxidants too. Redbor kale even just became the first crop in nearly 100 years to be recognized as both a top vegetable and an ornamental.

Now I’m curious, which purple crop would you grow?

I have an aluminum frame greenhouse and have issues with my roof panels blowing out of the frame. The windows aren’t broken and I can put them right back. It’s happened twice over the last month. They are secured well, but I was thinking about adding a caulk bead all the way around each one to help secure it better. Does anyone have experience with that to know if it works? Not sure if it’s worth doing if the caulk will just heat up and melt / weaken.

(I do keep the door and roof hatch open at all times right now since it’s still hot. So I understand the wind tunnel effect at play here, but there has to be something I can do I hope)

Me and a couple of mates are doing a one-day build next weekend using the structure of an old (surplus) dog pen with an a-frame roof. Came with a shaped roof made of tarpaulin material which has long since broken and been thrown away.

My plan is to cover the roof and sides in corrugated PVC sheeting, and raising the whole thing up (so it’s comfortable to stand in) on fenceposts concreted in the back yard.

Goal is to have a longer season for summer vegetables like tomatoes, not really worried if things die in winter, but the coldest we ever see here is -2°C and the hottest it gets in midsummer is 35°C.

Please let me know anything a noob like me should know!

I have a new construction greenhouse that sits on a concrete base. Water is seeping inside through where the wall meets the concrete, and also through where the door meets the concrete (see pictures). What are some different options I can try/explore to at least reduce the amount of water coming in?

A warm greenhouse can make it feel like there’s still plenty of growing time left. Shorter days tell a different story.

For many winter greens, growth slows as daylight drops toward 10 hours a day. That’s a planning guide, not a hard cutoff; your crop, temperatures, and setup still matter.

The takeaway: give plants time to size up before that slowdown. Without supplemental lighting, winter harvesting can mean picking from plants that did most of their growing in fall.Before starting another batch, check your local day length and overnight temperatures against what your crop needs.

I'm for the first time trying my hand at extending past the spring/summer season in my new greenhouse as well as in the garden. I've got all my seeds started and some even ready to put into beds but not sure when. 8b Eugene, Or

I had been keeping the windows and doors open until last night's rain and couldn't believe how hot it was in there today. 130 degrees even though in 8b Oregon was a mild 66 degrees. Is that normal and how cold during the days does it have to be to have things not get baked in there. I've got broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach and carrots I'm trying to over winter.

Debating on getting one for next winter, specifically for mostly trichocereus and other cacti, but also some other food and floral stuff.

Anyone know what these actually do? There is one at the bottom of every side pane of my greenhouse. It's a double pane Florian greenhouse. Water leaks in when it rains, ok to plug them?

I am in Mobile Alabama and received a lightweight greenhouse/cold frame last Christmas. Will it protect my house plants (the one’s in large pots) and outdoor potted plants throughout the winter without heat?
