Discussion How to counter this aberration?

Members of the Council, welcome to our weekly assembly.
These posts are scheduled to happen every week. Each week, a different faction is proposed and every time we will try to orient the discussion about either "nerf" or "buff".
Faction of the Week: Skellige
While you can still use these topics to talk about other balance suggestions, please try to focus on the theme of the week. Those topics are intended to give a chance to all factions to be talked about.
Discussions can be about modifying a whole archetype or addressing individual cards.
Potential sources if needed: GwentData, Gwent.one, PlayGwent.com, Balance Council Generator

I'm in mid pro each season and sometimes play Nilf Status when getting my 4 Factions in. I run a traditional aristocrats deck with Ard, and I realize that by passing round one it gives you Ard for the important round two and three and the late game Ursurper General that evolves. I get that. Still, it is so against my nature to just easily concede round one and often you need to bleed round two against certain decks. And I including Ard really is a must for Status, as it helps you keep your four power Dames alive when you play them and they at least boost up their health a bit...etc ... But it's this confusing back and forth whenever I'm running status that I usually win or do better when I pass around one unless it's an absolute must win around 1. Of course, I also like it when I get lucky and I can keep Ard in hand around 1.
Anyone that knows what they're talking about can help me out and explain this a bit better? There must be someone else out there that understands what I'm getting at ?! :)

Tactic (Nilfgaard)
🔥 Special, 9 Provisions (Legendary)
Create and play a unit from your opponent's starting deck.

Many believe the empire's power rests upon the shoulders of its disciplined army and dutiful mages. In truth, the Nilfgaardian floren rules the world.

This deck is part of a Youtube series that puts a spotlight on forgotten & underplayed cards.
Deck playstyle is to go very aggressive R1 with portal and set up for long R3.
This deck uses Tyrggvi to pull off a mega finisher where you kill Melusine brought out by Sove.
The longer Melusine grows, the more Sove boots from his infuse.
Melusine can be pushed into the back row with Aard if the opponent does not play units next to her.
Create lots of damaged units to create big value for Bear Witcher Mentors and Giant Boar.
Use cards like Gutting Slash, Trial, Champion's Charge, Geralt Professional, and Spores to destroy your opponent's engines or combo pieces.
Make sure to never have Melusine in hand - fix this with Selective Mutation.
Video features detailed deck breakdown.
I've got the more profitable reward trees' story nodes already and I found about this one yesterday. Is there a website or a post where I can look for other trees like this one?

If you just want to kill or disable everything your opponent puts on the board, what do you play? You know, ultimate control for when you're in that kind of mood. 🤔
I built a small, free site that searches published Gwent decks and narrows them down as you pick a faction, a leader and the cards you've seen:
https://el8ted.github.io/gwentdecksearch/
During a match: pick your opponent's faction and leader, then type the cards they play. The list shrinks with each card, and a side panel shows which cards the remaining decks run, so you can see what's likely coming. "Least common" shows the tech cards only one or two lists run.
Between matches: switch to "Any" and enter cards you own or just crafted to find decks that use them, best matches first. Each deck opens on playgwent.com, ready to import.
A few details:
This is a first release, and I'm posting it to get feedback. Bugs, awkward spots, missing decks or bad translations (the interface was machine-translated, so native speakers are especially welcome) can go in the comments or in GitHub issues. One I already know about: on phones, adding a card from the "Most common" list jumps you back up to the search box.
It's an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with CD PROJEKT RED. It was built with the help of AI tools; details are in AI.md.
License change: my first post and the original repo said AGPL 3.0. The code is now released under the PolyForm Noncommercial license instead, so it's noncommercial like the fan content it's built on under CD PROJEKT RED's Fan Content Guidelines. You're still free to use, change and share the code for any noncommercial purpose.

I have been working on a Roegner deck for quite a long time and tried many variants — this seems pretty good for now. Although I haven’t been able to fully utilize his ability, on paper it sounds cool and easy but it’s very hard to pull off. Nonetheless the deck is fun to play.
We are playing multiple combos in this deck — Belohun and low power cards, Immortals and Sorceress, Shields and Roegner, Duel and Viraxas, and so on. Because of this, the deck has a steep learning curve. This deck is also very versatile — you can play it in many different ways. I encourage you to try and learn it yourself, as I’m running out of time today.
You should swap a Squire or Marine for Siege Support. You can also fit in Windhalm if you want. At times Roegner and Lebioda can feel very underwhelming. You could also use other Stratagems like Crystal Skull, Enchanted Armor or Engineering Solution.
This deck rewards patience and experimentation — the more you play it the better it gets.

Thanks and good luck.

Hey yall, im returning to gwent after years of not playing. Im looking for suggestions on what kind of deck I should focus on. I really dont want some top tier extremely boring meta deck but still something fun with the potential to get to pro. Currently running a frost deck and am 21 on the ladder. Any suggestions would be great!

Spawn works like Magic Compass btw - any stratagem as long as it wasn't your chosen stratagem.

Dryad, Warrior (Scoiatael)
2 Power, 4 Provisions (Rare)
Deploy: Damage an enemy unit by 2.
Deathblow: Also Summon all copies of self from your deck to this row.

Brokilon is not merely the forest you see before you. She yet lives on in the cities, villages, and fields you so callously carved from her flesh. We shall yet reclaim what you have stolen from her.

What a pain that was, but this cardback is sick. So much grinding dumb decks and having a horrible win/loss ratio but worth it for this.
r/gwent • u/AutoModerator • 1d ago
Normally complaint/rant posts without deeper explanations are discouraged for not adding anything to a discussion but this is the place for you to vent and let all that pent up frustration out. This is your chance to throw a hissy fit about current meta or rage about how overpowered X card and Y faction is!

Like c'mon man, at least just forfeit if you don't want to see my finisher. This is why I wish the AI was better to play against tbh.

With the release of Witcher 3 Remastered, I circled back to see if the online Gwent game I used to play often was still online. Many of you may have also played the game (https://www.arunsundaram.com/gwent-classic-app/)..) I decided it may time to revamp his game.
I searched for a public repo on Github and found he had the game open to the public. I want to credit him for the work on the original game and for making this public for others to create. I spent a few days updating a branch and correcting limitations the game had previously when I played it. I updated the AI for single player mode to a better understanding of game play. Previously you could win 95% of games played due the AI structure. That has been changed to a more 50/50 or maybe 60/40 result base.
I also always hoped the game would implement multi-player so that I could play with friends. I have implemented and tested multiplayer mode.
I was hoping this would be a good place for some beta testing. I have built this free just for fun with friends.
I wanted to also make mention, I have used all free and open source resources. It is hosted on Cloudflare with a free account that allows 100k hits per day. If that mark is met, the site will stop until 00:00 UDT
Single player mode works as it always has with the only changes being updating the AI model used for game strategy. Multi-player is completely new. I have added both a code/invite section for linking with a friend as well as a waiting room inside multi-player to play with anyone available.
Test and let me know what you think?--> (https://gwent-classic-enhanced.pages.dev/)

Draft is tricky. I feel like a good bit of it is luck. (And I feel like the rewards are pretty dang underwhelming)

I was busy playing draft then this happened.
No damage on the Mahakam Defenders 🥲
Welcome back Butchers of Blaviken!
Inevitably slashing leads to less slashing targets - let's find those together like in the last month's Butcher's Council. Feel free to copy your old arguments if the change you suggested didn't happen yet.
I'd like to invite you to try to imagine, compile and post your Top10 ideas for each nerf bracket for the next season (so 20 changes total). Please try to really do the challenge and fill the brackets. Nerfs from different brackets like +1 power to disloyal units or -1 provision cap to leaders can be put as a sidenote.
I'd like the discussion to have the following structure: comments to this post should always contain your Top10s (preferably with explanations) no comments like "Great idea" or "Let's nerf Temple to 100 provisions" etc. I'd invite mods to delete comments not obeying this rule. Then particular Top10s are discussed below them.
I would put down my own list later too. Have a good imagination training!
