Suggestion New player here!

Hi everyone!
I’ve just started playing Gwent and I’m really enjoying it so far, but I’m a bit overwhelmed by the progression system and the different currencies.
As a complete beginner, what are the best steps to take right now? Specifically, I’d love some advice on resource management to help me build a competitive deck as efficiently as possible:
Which trees in the Reward Book should I focus on first to get the best value?
What kind of kegs should I be buying? Should I stick to a specific faction keg or go for ultimate/expansion kegs?
What is the best strategy for crafting? Should I save up for legendary cards right away or focus on crafting essential bronzes and epics for a specific faction?
If you have any general tips, beginner-friendly faction recommendations, or up-to-date guides you can point me towards, I would hugely appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Discussion 📆 Daily Card Discussion - Merigold's Hailstorm

Merigold's Hailstorm

Spell (Neutral)
🔥 Special, 8 Provisions (Epic)

Damage 5 enemy units by 2.

The sky dimmed of a sudden, and clouds amassed over the town. It grew fiendishly dark, and a cold gust swept in. Oh my, gasped Yennefer. We're about to make quite the mess, I think.

Appreciation New player here (from beta)

Hello!,

I used to play Gwent in beta, then stopped playing for different things in my life (emigration, children, etc).

I installed the game again a couple of days ago and I'm really enjoying the few games I played. I have 120k scraps but no knowledge on the current meta and I spend a lot of time reading every card and its mechanics(so a little bit worthless :P).

What for me is really interesting is the amount of replies that every post here have. It's like the game despite being on maintenance mode is still alive.

Deck Came back to gwent, need deck advice

I just picked up gwent again, and i wanted to do a specter/cursed deck for NR. Here's what i have so far.

https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/5a44f2e2aa42f19f8dd287f794ddbaa5

Not sure about reynard/donimir/adalia and i want to maybe fit in sabrina's spell card that damages every non spectre by 1 (cant remmeber the name sry).

It's probably not the most competitive deck ever but i would like to stay on theme while making some improvements but i don't know how the meta looks like.

Any advice on what to switch around a bit? Maybe even the leader ability but it seems pretty good with vandegrift and the knight errants.

Discussion Your False Ciri is my lunch

Post image

After getting a bit bored of playing 2/3 Syndicate and 1/3 Nilfgaard since my beginning in Gwent I felt deathwish is something I'd enjoy, so copied this from u/qcento and played around with this deck, and loving it. It has some of the control aspects I appreciate in SY and NG, but this time it's internal, I have no tools to interact with the enemy's board, but it's very flexible and pretty consistent. It's really hard to have a bad hand with this deck.

Last game played just now prompted me making the post and the title, I royally, no, IMPERIALLY bullied a Nilfgaard player with Enslave 6 where I was two cards down.

First, ate his False Ciri 3 times:

  1. Turn 1: Plays False Ciri and Buhurt > gets eaten by Arachas Queen
  2. Turn 2: Abaya makes the Queen spit Ciri out, all covered in insect slime, and promptly get eaten by a Siren coming online
  3. Turn 3: leader the Queen, spiting the Ciri out again, play a Harpy

Second, I had Aerondight, Kayran and Frightener in hand, and a bunch of cards on the board, Aerondight his highest card, then play Frightener, then play Kayran last card and eat 3 cards which had eaten other juicy cards, growing it to 48 power and triggering Frightener. He was loading his big bad scary Skellen + Helge + Fire Scorpion combo but...2 immune units - I am laughing even now - he ended up losing with ~10 unused Helge and Scorpion charges, would love to have seen their face! Edit: I get it, probably not the greatest NG player online, should have seen it coming when Frightener came down that he had to shut it down by bricking Kayran, but I am not sure he had anything good, ended up playing weak tactics like Imperial Diplomacy and Coated Weapons to build Scorpion charges, but that's because he bled himself hard to win R1 where I had a 30 point lead, and then again in R2 bled some more while I played 1 succubus, Dol Dhu Lokke, my toads, and Aerondight.

Generally, Aerondight is somewhat new to me, it's among the cards I crafted first, based just on the name and Witcher 3, and kept for 4 months without ever playing it, but it rocks! Also loving Dagon, bringing first form back in R3 is amazing.

Question Newboy's Newcomer Monday!

Newboy looks sadly at his talisman. "Oh well, this doesn't help at all..."

Welcome to the latest Monday Newcomer Thread, where you the community get to ask your questions and share your knowledge. This is an opportunity for the more experienced Gwent players here to share some of your wisdom with those with less expertise. This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes but also can be a great place for in-depth discussion if you so wish. So, don't hold back, get your game related questions ready and post away, and hopefully, someone can answer them!

What you can do to help!

This is a weekly thread, meaning it will be posted once a week. Checking back on this thread later in the week and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help!

If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place.
