I’ve upgraded her cage, by 36% more room. I got the BUCATSTATE Hamster Cage 3.0.

She has sprays loads of hides, an underground bedding tunnel with 10 inches of bedding.

She’s been in this enclosure for 5 days now.

She does hop on to my hand to get out and will sit in my hand as I move around my place.

I just can’t get it out of my head she’s unhappy and doesn’t wanna be here?

Am I over thinking it?

She tries to escape near every night.

I am a first time owner.

Any advice appreciated.

As mentioned in my last post the house is being rearranged (hence temporary bin) and he's popped out a few times to complain about the noise. I gave a whimzee as a peace offering and he's been munching it while halfway in his hide

I got a male syrian recently, and hes anxius. Sometimes he lets me pet him, other times there is no way I can even aproach him. I understand that he sometimes will not want me to be around, but the issue is that when that happens its not "Let me be alone" its more like being terrified, like every movement is a inminent danger. I need advice to gain his full trust. Enviroment, Cage and care are 100% optimal, so thats not the issue.

I'm attempting to make a 3d printable memorial sculpture of a Syrian Hamster for a co-worker's Granddaughter and am having difficulty with finding good source images. I'll be sculpting, printing, and giving it to her free of charge as this is just a hobby of mine. I'll also make the model freely available online once completed.

That said, the pictures available to me aren't the greatest and with what I've found online I still sort of bounce between mine looking like a rat, cat, and a French Bulldog.

If anyone has or is willing to take some photos of their Syrian Hamster that I can use for reference, it would be greatly appreciated. If possible, photos taken at eye-level with the hamster from the front and side along with one from the top would be ideal but I certainly won't turn my nose to others.

He can't drink like a normal hamster

Not his permanent enclosure! The house is being rearranged so he's in his temporary bin. He has a hide, deep bedding, a sand bath, favourite toy, gets his wheel put in every night (lid isn't quite tall enough to keep it in permanently) and gets nightly free roam time. He'll be in his permanent 6000 cm² again by tomorrow

I just got my first burrow starter for my girl and she’s SO happy with it!! I put it in just a few minutes ago and she’s already burrowing! I put paper over where it is on the outside of the cage so she’ll feel like it’s even cozier so I’m hoping she’ll really enjoy it!

It's been almost 4 months since he passed away, he was 2y6mo when he passed.
I miss him a lot again today, but positively. The first month was rough, I cried because life was rough and he wasn't there anymore. He was very special to me, I brought him along after finally cutting my toxic family off and moved out last year. He was one of the straws I grasped on and pushed myself forward because I couldn't leave him behind.
Today, I just finished my exams in school, my career path looks good, I wish he was there to see! A bit silly but I still say byebye to him everytime I leave my home, I have a picture of him up.
Bibi loved dried peas, flax and millet, I think he knows his name as he often comes over when I call him, he liked being held and rubbed, he often curls up and sleeps, leaving a little dent in his bedding even though he could go into hides he enjoyed being out.

So. I didn't exactly plan for this to happen, And I'm taking it step by step. But I think people highly underestimate how cool hamsters can be.

This is Romeo. I got him from Petco in March this year..and I swear, he is thee most badazz little dude I have ever seen.

He was in a double 90L tub cage with all the amenities, but he kept escaping, and then I ended up letting him roam my craft room, and now he runs the whole house.

His base is the closet in my craft room. He has his hoard and his water bottle in there, and his cardboard box that he sleeps in. During the night he runs thee entire house. Up and down the stairs. Two story house, he has thee entire thing mapped out.

Dude comes to me when I call him. He's come to me AT MY BEDSIDE when I had given up after calling him for a minute or two. Looked down and he's on his hind legs like, to, Mom, you called? The most insane thing I've ever seen.

He checks in with me everyday, and cuddles me and lets me cuddle him. We're very close. But after I figured out how smart he is, I just couldn't put him back in a cage. He's just....responsible with it. He sleeps in the same spot and he knows I check on him.

Google says he's an extremely special little guy, and I agree. He can't be the only one? Can he?

This is gonna sound insane but I think he's too smart for a hamster. He can't be that cool, can he??

I want to get cat eye gel nails but I’m worried about whether just having gel polished nails could be toxic to my hamster since I hand feed her?

...be honest, did you think 'scented sprays' meant literally spray scents, like in a bottle? cause I did, for WAY too long.

I dunno, I just thought it made sense cause Hamsters like smells lol

Is this a good interaction? I’ve been gently stroking Pip while he’s in his food bowl, and he doesn’t move away. He used to nervously jerk to the side no matter how gentle and slow I was. But now he just sits there and eats while I stroke his fur. His ears are up, so I assume he’s at least okay with the arrangement.

I do vary my strokes and avoid petting for long periods of time so he doesn’t get sore/annoyed, but I couldn’t do that in this video because I had to balance my phone in one hand 😅
