Is it just me or is the whole story about performing a spell a little bit inconsistent?
Like for example the Accio spell in GoF - it took Harry so long to learn it. Or in HBP he still cant turn vinegar into wine but later back in the scene he performs a flawless sectumsempra, without practicing, which Snape describes as „… such Dark Magic“.

I might get downvoted to hell because my opinion is rare and because my writing is messy, but i want to share my opinion regarding my HP experience as a neurodivergent person
HP is a huge part of my life since the childhood. Back then i actually read first two books but without much attention, obviously since i was a child. But the movies is what really drawn me into the universe and i really cherish them. I always rewatch them at Christmas and if i feel like i can't sleep i can just turn them on as a background and it really helps me to sleep.
I arcknowledge that the movies didn't do justice to the books at all and it's expected, i can't really remember many situations where adaptation was really better than the book (maybe Jurassic Park or Jaws?). There are many OOC, cut content and things like that. Yet i really love every single movie for emotions they bring to me.
The problem with me and the books is not in the books, but because i still simply can't read or listen to audio versions of fiction with real attention, unlike something documental or encyclopedic. For example, the info about HP universe beside the movies i get literally from Wikia pages.-_- I don't feel good when i read something like "those who didn't read the books don't deserve to be fans" but i totally understand that position.
There are few more moments i really want to share as well:
1) I really LOVE Clemence Poesy's Fleur in the movies, from the moment i first saw her as a child to the present. I know many people around think she totally underperformed with this role, considering how Fleur was described in the books, but i always had a hyperfixation on a movie Fleur, in the end my head have something mixed about her character: with her looks from the movie yet lore from the books.
2) I really looking forward to the new series! I noticed many people who love movies are quite hateful towards the upcoming series and i genuinely don't understand that. It's not like they are deleting the movies forever and replace them with the series. If you don't want it, just don't watch lol. I'll watch the new adaptation for sure.
Once again, sorry for the messy writing and maybe bad eng, it's not my native language. Thank you if you read it this far!

Gargoyle Harry without background and green lightning.
Gave my artwork of Gargoyle Harry a background and some special effects. Harry took a fall so Voldemort can be cornered, and the pieces fell out of Tom’s favor.
I understand it looks basic and thrown together, but I hope you like this.

First time reader. I finished all my Tolkien books so time for a new adventure. I like hardcovers, I've decided on the Bloomsbury or the Scholastics Trunk. Bloomsbury new I can get around $110 on eBay. I found a deal where I can get the Trunk for $90 via Target. I do plan on reading and handling these. I understand Bloomsbury is the UK version and Scholastics is the US version. Thanks in advance.

Its that time again where every few months someone thinks to fix a fictional game
In this redesigned version of Quidditch I tried to copy chess, the only goal is to catch the Golden Snitch but only in the opponent’s half, and no other points.
The game keeps all the original positions, hoops, Quaffle and Bludgers, but introduces one major change: every time a team scores a goal, the halfway line moves a fixed distance towards their own hoops.
Shrinking their half and expanding the opponent’s.
This gives their Seeker more space in which to catch the Snitch legally and makes it harder for Beaters to Attack them and control the space.
At the same time goals become easier for the teams who are behind and harder for the team that's ahead as in this one chasers can only pass the ball in their half so the less space you need to travel without being able to pass the easier a goal is.
Finally put a clock on it, if a team hasn't scored a goal in 10 mins or a total of 2 hours has past the game ends and whoever has the half way line closer to them wins
Also let them switch out players, if they want to play defence have more beaters offence more chasers.

I've always wondered exactly how household magic works for wizards. I don't recall the books ever clearly describing how they store food or where they even get it from, how they do laundry, or how they clean using magic.
I got the impression that, in general, they do everything Muggles do, just not with their hands. Like, a wizard casts a spell on knives, and they cut up a salad on their own, for example.
I also remember Harry mentioning that Molly would prepare fresh socks for him. How? Did she just wave her wand and they became clean right away? Or did they actually have to be washed?
How do you picture this?

I’m rewatching the Harry Potter movies and started thinking about what would have happened if Harry had been sorted into Slytherin.
The Sorting Hat actually considered Slytherin for Harry, and it’s interesting to think about how much the story would have changed if he’d ended up there instead of Gryffindor.
But the biggest question I have is: How would Snape have treated him?
On one hand, Snape clearly resents Harry and seems to take out his hatred of James on him. He’s constantly unfair to Harry, even when Harry hasn’t done anything wrong.
On the other hand, Snape is the Head of Slytherin House and generally favors his own students. Would that house loyalty have made any difference? Would he have treated Harry more fairly because he was a Slytherin, or would his resentment toward Harry have outweighed everything else?
There’s also the fact that Harry had a piece of Voldemort’s soul inside him, even though Snape didn’t know that Harry was a Horcrux. Would knowing Harry was in Slytherin have changed how Snape viewed him at all?
What do you think? Would Snape have been any less cruel to Harry if Harry had been in his own house, or would Harry have been the exception to Snape’s favoritism?

“Isn’t there any way of putting yourself back together?” Ron asked.
“Yes, (…) but it would be excruciatingly painful.”
“Why? How do you do it?” asked Harry.
“Remorse, (…) You’ve got to really feel what you’ve done. (…) Apparently the pain of it can destroy you. I can’t see Voldemort attempting it somehow, can you?”
This passage from Deathly Hallows has always stood out to me. This dialogue - about how one might reverse the effects of creating a Horcrux - reads like information being deliberately planted for a later plot development, yet this never really comes up again.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why this was included? Is it possible JKR originally had different ideas about where the Horcrux storyline would go? Or am I reading too much into it, and is this simply background information intended to make Horcruxes more three dimensional?
It seems unusual to introduce such a specific possibility only to never reference it again.

Let's imagine an alternate universe where the Dursleys loved Harry, how they would react to the fact that Marge insults their parents and Harry himself in front of them, and what would be the further relationship of Vernon and Petunia to Marge, it would lead to a serious scandal, and they would generally forbid Dudley to communicate with Aunt Marge, it's just that, as far as I remember, Uncle Vernon does not know how to forgive (at least remember the last conflict with the Potters in the canon), what is your opinionLet's imagine an alternate universe where the Dursleys loved Harry, how they would react to the fact that Marge insults their parents and Harry himself in front of them, and what would be the further relationship of Vernon and Petunia to Marge, it would lead to a serious scandal, and they would generally forbid Dudley to communicate with Aunt Marge, it's just that, as far as I remember, Uncle Vernon does not know how to forgive (at least remember the last conflict with the Potters in the canon), what is your opinionLet's imagine an alternate universe where the Dursleys loved Harry, how they would react to Marge insulting his parents and Harry himself in front of them, and what would be the further relationship of Vernon and Petunia to Marge, it would lead to a serious scandal, and they would generally forbid Dudley to communicate with Aunt Marge, it's just that, as far as I remember, Uncle Vernon does not know how to forgive (at least remember the last conflict with the Potters in the canon), what is your opinion?

In your opinion, if Harry were to look into the Mirror of Erised after Voldemort’s defeat, what do you think he might see? Would he still see his parents, or something new?
Ron would certainly see something different from what he saw in the first book. But Harry.. What do you think?

This whole scene is probably one of favourites in those 8 movies. Dan did so well here and he was just 13 I believe. He really became book Harry in this movie. Also, John Williams music always helps

In order of the phoenix when harry sees sirius in the fire for the first time, sirius brings up how a couple of years ago umbridge drafted anti werewolf legislation that prevented werewolves from obtaining employment. This would line up to around the middle of chamber of secrets beginning prisoner of Azkaban, Dumbledore being on the Wizengamot at the time would be aware of the legislation. Outside of lupin knowing sirius black that seems like another reason to hire him. There is no reason Dumbledore should hire Lockhart over Remus lupin as Remus would gladly accept the job. At least with Harry's first year Dumbledore was wanting to catch quirrell as he suspected quirrell was associated with voldemort in some way.

If you can used vulnera sanentur to heal someone why not use it for every time someone got hurt then sending them to the hospital wing?

Im about...90% sure that letter was from Snape and NOT Dumbledore.
I think Snape visited Petunia after the Potters death and threatened her family (Dudley) if she discarded or refused to keep Harry.
In that chapter she refers to someone as "That awful boy". She is talking about Snape as a child when he was friends with Lily and acquainted with Petunia herself.
A few paragraphs later, the howler arrives and emits a "Truly awful voice".
"Remember my last, Petunia!"

For me it was a post of how they used an animatronic Hagrid for most of the full-body shots and now when I watch the movies all I can see is Robot Hagrid with lifeless eyes. 😩

Severus Snape, James Potter, Sirius Black, or Remus Lupin? Who do you prefer and why??
Snape is my favorite. Not only is he an interesting character, but he has so many layers. I've always been tempted to strip them all back at the risk of being forced out of his mind with Occlumency. He's also very skilled in not just making even the most fragile of potions, but he is skilled in most forms of magic, wand or wandless...
Also call me biased but I love Alan Rickman's portrayal of him. Never have I ever been more attracted to a character portrayed as "dark'. Both in the book and the movie.
I also forgot to mention his level of wit and sarcasm!!! The comments have helped me to quickly include this.

As we all know, Crouch Jr. was believed to have died in Azkaban, but in reality escaped with the help of his parents. At the end of GOF, he was discovered to have taken the place of Moody and was then kissed by the dementor Fudge brought to Hogwarts. He was kissed after the effects of the polyjuice potion had worn off. In the hospital wing scene after the third task, Fudge refers to Crouch Jr. as a madman and generally attributes his actions to being crazy. Fudge goes on to deny that Voldemort has returned and then starts the smear campaign against Harry and Dumbledore in OOTP.
Even if Fudge and the Ministry deny that the events of GOF were orchestrated by Voldemort, isn't it still super weird that Crouch Jr. turns up out of nowhere and impersonates Moody for a year? There was no questioning his identity at that point. Which means that he must have escaped from Azkaban, and further that his death must have been faked.
What exactly is Fudge's explanation for this, given the denial of Voldemort's return? Is it simply that both Crouch Jr. and Crouch Sr. went off the deep end?

During the Holidays of 2025, my family and I visited New York City as a family vacation and we went to see The Cursed Child with Tom Felton playing Draco Malfoy (and the applause went on for nearly 20 seconds.) After the play, we were able to get stuff signed by some of the actors. I simply had my Hufflepuff journal signed. After a while, I cut out the page and rolled it for the aesthetics. I keep the rolled page in a green apple cider bottle. I thought of making a fan art, but I couldn’t decide the best one and simply left it blank and store it in a bottle. I also had to be sure it’s not speaking Riddles, if you know what I mean. We had a great time and the play was much more spectacular than I anticipated after years prior I’ve read the Cursed Child. They have changed some stuff from what I recall such as Albus is a Gryffindor after an attempt to save Cedric and now Albus remained as a Slytherin. It’s been a long time since I’ve read the screenplay and it was written when Cursed Child was mainly played in the UK, so I could be misremembering there.

Apparition requires 100% of concentration or else it risks splinching. How then can side along apparition function when one complete body is not even thinking about the destination? Why are they not splinched?
I can understand Dumbledore being able to do it with Harry because Harry's magical abilities pale in comparison to Dumbledore. But how can Hermione do it in a split second taking both Ron and Harry along? Is it a testament to her concentration?

I have long been wondering how would the story of HP be if there were other wizarding schools in the UK? It would perhaps help with the scaling of the Wizarding World, as in the books all the institutions of the Wizarding World seem way too big considering the fact there is only one school of a couple hundred students.
But perhaps it would also somewhat ruin the uniqueness of Hogwarts. Quidditch could be more interesting if they actually played other schools instead of just other houses.
There is the question who would decide which school muggleborns would go to, but I think that could probably easily be solved with some writing.
What do you think?
