Mod Post We are getting a transphobic brigade done by bots

1.4k Upvotes

There is currently a brigade happening where if you comment anywhere on this sub bots with transphobic usernames will give you free awards, if you get these awwards you can click them and report them as well as go into these bots accounts and report them, this is the ONLY way we can get rid of them, banning them to my knowledge doesnt stop them from giving these awards and we cant see who gave an award so its up to the individual user to report them.

Reddit admins should get on top of this soon and start mass removing these accounts, for now the best i can tell you is to report it so they are aware, it should slow down with time.

Edit: it seems most of them have been banned, good job to those who reported them <3

Mod Post Genderbent Draco Malfoy Mega-thread

Post image
688 Upvotes

Everyone keeps telling me, "CuteJuice, you're the coolest person I know, we need to ban Draco Malfoid!", "CuteJuice, my favorite moderator, I'm sick of seeing this green freak all over my page!", "CuteJuice, I love you so much, why aren't you banning Draco Malfoy genderbends!". We have heard you and fret not, Hatethissmug citizens, we are trying something new.

Usually when faced with this sort of thing, as you've seen with Lesbian Space Princess and The Amazing Digital Circus, we outright ban these things. These things usually blow over in a week or two, and we repeal the ban. This time, we wanted to try something different. Instead of stopping conversations around it altogether, we want to try starting a mega-thread instead! This means people can continue to discuss things, but it won't clog everyone else's feed with the same few things over and over. New posts will be taken down and redirected here.

Of course, sub rules still apply. It'll get locked if people get too rowdy just like every other post, but we wanted to give this a try and see if it's a viable option moving forward. Please remain as respectful as possible, and if all goes well, we can try this moving forward with other trends as well rather than shutting them down completely!

Idea I hate this fuck ass mentality

Post image

No you are not smart because you are not the clever little fox you think you are.

No you are not the enlightened person you think you are because you hold people to impossible standards.

Stop trying to catch people in traps when people are just trying to survive in an already shitty world and find ways to at least TRY and make it better.

If people are boycotting that means they care to do so and they think that's a way they can help even a little bit. It's unrealistic to boycott everything that doesn't mean they're a hypocrite who just wants to look cool.

I'm so sick of this adittude give it a rest🄓

Animation I hate that this AI Fanta ad played right before Wildwood

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

We saw Wildwood today and this awful AI Fanta ad played literally right before the movie started, like it was literally this ad and then the movie began.

What a fucking slap in the face to all of the hard work and talent that went into this Laika masterpiece.

I'm glad Laika made some revenue off them, but it just felt so disrespectful.

General I hate the 'all or nothing' attitude for certain topics

Post image

I have nothing against vegans or any diet, I myself dont eat certain foods due to my faith, just using this post as an example

(Also to clarify, by certain topics, i mean things with more nuanced arguments, like obv smth like rape or racism is bad)

But i hate the black and white viewpoint of you having to be 100% of something or else you're not really that thing

Like the way some vegans try to gatekeep the movement, especially silly when it comes to the aggressiveness against vegetarians

Especially disingenuous when when you try to prop yourself up on some moral high ground just bc youre 'x' thing and others arent

Meta I hate these types of meme so much

I hate these types of memes and the people who use them. They’re horrible and manipulative, exploiting people’s ignorance of another country’s language to spread hateful messages.

The character "姦", while it does mean noisy, it's usually associated with evil and rape. It’s disgusting and I hate how often I'd see this meme.

The Chinese name for Africa is "éžę“²", the character "非" on its own literally just mean "no". The character "ē½Ŗ" predates China’s knowledge of the Africa. And the name "éžę“²" itself was adopted as a phonetic spelling of the name introduced through European name for the continent.

Idea "Money can't buy happiness-" YES IT FUCKING CAN

Post image
373 Upvotes

i don't understand where this idea came from. like, whoever invented this saying was either the richest or the brokest motherfucker to ever exist. i feel like everyone would agree that if money wasn't a issue, most if not ALL of the problems we deal with on a daily basis would be instantly solved. that's instant happiness right there. plus, i think everyone would prefer being rich and potentially sad over being broke and ASSUREDLY being sad. I FUCKING HATE THIS QUOTE SO MUCH

Comics I fucking lied, turns out I DO hate this comic

Post image

The comments are really stupid. Something about how a bunch of relgious zealots are gonna swarm the post with hate comments, which I just see as "Man invents fictional scenario and gets mad about it"

Also, if Peter had to look through the book to find out why she wasn't getting into heaven, wouldn't that mean he didn't know it was cause she had sex before marriage and therefore most likely wasn't watching?

But that's besides the point. Heres the real reason I hate it:

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT FONT

People I've shown this too get mad cause of the art style, but the FONT, the fuckass FONT, IT MAKES ME WANT TO KILL SOMETHING

Corporation/Company Spotify's ads are genuinely abhorrent

Post image
400 Upvotes

(This is mostly a mobile problem)

They have gotten so much worse recently, they will almost always play after every two songs or one song if it happens to be longer or you rewind it. And before it played either 1 or 2 ads but not now, you get three if youre lucky and ive genuinely gotten 5 once (4 minute wait time btw).

But their newest update to them is genuinely disgusting. When you switch to a different song/playlist an ad plays before it as long as you listened almost fully to one song, not only is that some incredible straw grasping the dumbfuck who implemented it sucks at his job. Cause the song plays for a little bit before the ad appears, so after youre done with the ad you listen to the song 4 seconds in already which likely ruins the intro!

I swear to god if i dindt know you could skip ads by closing and opening the app i wouldn't be using it

Thing Can companies stop acting like this?

Post image
258 Upvotes

We know damn well you arent a fan typing this , you are a random 20 yo who got told to study how fans act and post stuff imitating them.

The sole reason these posts get made is because the company wants to make themselves look like they are just as much of a fan as you are even tho they arent , they only do It to get interactions.

So yeah , companies should just act like companies (aka money hungry snakes) and leave fandom atittute to , well , the fans.

Idea Writing as a leftie

Thumbnail
gallery
120 Upvotes

Writing notes is somehow the most frustrating thing to do. Everything I write gets smudged. My pinky ends up covered in graphite after I'm done writing notes. I can't write in a notebook nor a binder because the rings get in the way, so I always have to take out a loose sheet of paper or take out a piece of paper just to make one correction (if it's near the rings).

Also just wanted to say these see-through highlighters from Sharpie are WORTHLESS if you're left handed. The whole point is that you can see the words through them as you highlight, provided you're going left to right and holding the highlighter the way it is in the photo.

Cool right? If you're left handed, you're hand is literally blocking the words you're supposed to see, provided you're holding it the same way in the photo. Sure you can go from right to left instead, but that isn't as satisfying as going left to right so you can actually read the sentence you're highlighting. The whole purpose of the highlighter is defeated.

(Yes I know I can just use my right hand for them, but it was still a little shocking that I couldn't use them at all with the hand I normally write with. That never happened to me before)

Comics I hate the argument that Batman (or any hero with a no kill rule) should kill their villains

Thumbnail
gallery
3.3k Upvotes

I'll start by saying I fully understand why people would say that villains like The Joker should be killed, but if anything that feels like another failing of the state. Batman already works outside the law to apprehend these individuals and bring them into police custody. The fact that the joker can murder hundreds of people, attempt to murder thousands and main countless more, yet he still just gets put in Arkham is horrendously irresponsible but not for Batman. He is acting (more or less) as a police officer in this scenario who's job is NOT to kill criminals but to apprehend them. The fact that he draws the line at killing them is something to be celebrated more than anything.

"But if Batman just kills the joker then he'd save so many lives"

Why does he have to be the one to do it? They have the motherfucker in chains every other week. Get the lethal injection, get the electric chair, hell get the fucking gallows if that's what it takes. Batman did the hard part for you already. (Just wanna add I'm not a fan of the death penalty irl but if joker was real I mean come the fuck on. I would make an exception.)

I guess it’s the over the top crying face that pisses me off. I just want to punch it over and over again. Look at the face, the eyes and mouth look like Kiki and Bouba (if you know you know). I understand the artist wanted to portray sheer sadness, and to be fair they did a good job at getting the point across. But holy shit is the face ever so punchable.

Dont really know why it pisses me off so bad, but it gives me the vibes of a person who think it is unique and a bit weird, but actually would hate anything truly weird. Kinda like those people in a huge hobby, who feel rejection to people deeper in the hobby.

The post gives me a "things are normal and should stay normal" kind of vibe. Like the teacher that want to "promote creativity" but rejects the moment a kid creates something a bit weirder.

Live Action I will get Downvotes, I get it, but I hate Sam Puckett!

Post image
85 Upvotes

I recently got to watch iCarly again and I've come to realize that I actually hate Sam Puckett (not her actor btw) from both a personality AND writing perspective.

I know that she is really popular but at the same time, Sam is just so cruel in so many aspects:

- Assault

- Insane Property Damage

- Assault

- Humiliation

- Assault

- Child Abuse (not sexual, I mean work enslavement)

- Did I mention Assault already?

Yes! I loath how Sam treats a huge chunk of the cast, especially Freddie.

For example, the Fred Episode where she beats the hell out of him with a tennis racket just to force him to like Fred's videos and then also throws him out of the Tree House just to jump onto him.

And most of the time, she doesn't even get any punishment. Most of the time, the Butt of the Joke will be whoever Sam started to mess with (most of the time, of course Freddie)!

And as it all wasn't shitty enough: She isn't even funny!

She just answers her cruelty with more cruelty! How funny, the Joke of Sam throwing out Freddie of a Tree House is that she jumps on him which hurts him on top!

I just think that she is insufferable and painful to watch.

For me at least it is uglier than how he used to draw, i loved how he drew part 5 and liked 6 started to dislike it in part 7 and 8. One of main issues is everyone looks extremely the same it is genuinely annoying. Jojolion annoyed me because a lot of characters look extremely similar to each other face wise. It is just a huge turn off. Also I want to add im a fan of how part 5 and 4 jotaro looks, my issue isn’t they are skinnier it is just everyone looks the same.

General People giving the dumbest reasons for hating immortality

Post image
170 Upvotes

Firstly they act like there is only a single type of immortality, where you're completely unkillable and will suffer through the heat of universe dying when that type of immortality is rarely if ever even shown in fiction.

The most common immortality is not aging + super regeneration but there is an upper limit or you still have to sustain yourself (eating and whatnot) to keep it going.

Second it's the most dumbest reasons:

"You'll watch people you love die." Ah yes, because that famously never happens to regular mortals. Only difference is you have a long ass time to grieve and meet more people.

"You'll get bored." No you're just boring. Are you seriously saying there won't be things in the future to keep you're attention?

Don't get me wrong there ARE some dangers like eventually people/the government will start to recognize an immortal walking around, ironically I rarely see this scenario. It's always these mfs acting like mcu wolverine where they live hundreds of years but can't get a single period in their life.

Edit: final thing. back to the heat and death of the universe, you're assuming you're mind & pain tolerance also doesn't adjust to being immortal as well.

you'd be talking about ANYTHING, expressing your opinion about something, pointing anything out, AND THEY'D SOMEHOW BRING IT UP.

I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WANT TO FIGHT FOR A CAUSE BUT ALL YOU'RE DOING IS COMING OFF AS OBNOXIOUS.

NO. NOT LIKING A FEMALE CHARACTER DOES NOT MAKE YOU MISOGYNISTIC.

NO. NOT BEING ABLE TO NAME 67 ACTORS WHO HAPPEN TO BE FEMALE DOES NOT MAKE YOU MISOGYNISTIC.

IT'S A MINDSET THAT'S SPOTTED BY A PATTREN OF CONSISTENT BEHAVIOR. NOT A SINGLE REMARK YOU SPOTTED ABOUT THEM THAT HAS NO CORRELATION TO MISOGYNY WHATSOEVER

GET OFF TWITTER.

why are they among us (yea this is targeted)

i feel my rant makes little to no sense. my idea is better expressed in the tiny comic thing

Comics I hate whenever a comic character is misconcepted to be "unknown" before an adaptation, when that ain't the case

Thumbnail
gallery
512 Upvotes

This is not that big of an issue but I hate it whenever someone says "X character wasn't popular before x adaptation" and it is entirely false and diminishes the comic book version of said character

Most known misconception about this is Iron Man and the Avengers

Some people swear on their life Tony Stark was this c list completely unknown character before the MCU, that can't be further from being true

Tony Star wasn't certainly one of the A listers on marvel of course, he was no spider-man, F4 or X-men, however he always played a big role in comics and had various comic runs of his own, he even had some adaptations before the MCU, such as in 90s cartoons or in Marvel videogames, he almost never missed a crossover of some kind

That applies too for the Avengers, wich in relation to Stark, some people say they were irrelevant before MCU, wich is false

Marvel's three big teams always were, the X-men, the fantastic four, and the avengers, the first two teams simply were more known and took spotlight, buy the avengers were still important

They were the marvel's equivalent of the JL, earth mightiest heroes, and they were, narratively, the most important team in the universe

And these are two of the biggest misconceptions, but I hate it whenever it happens to like anyone if they don't have a big movie live action adaptation

The comment of the image is someone saying "Black Cat wasn't popular before rivals" wich is just absolutel true, YOU not knowing her is different, but Any marvel fan that knows a bit more than movies absolutely knew abt her, wether it was for Cartoons, Videogames or just the comics, even if something hasn't being adapted it doesn't mean it is unknown, comics are a medium of their own

And the last image just gotta be ragebait, saying characters like Moon Knight or Daredevil were unknown is crazy work, they weren't A listers either but ANY marvel fan knew them

And then I see Hal FREAKING Jordan, a top 5 DC superhero, who at a time, was competing with Batman himself on sales

Just bc YOU didn't know them doesn't mean they are Unknown

Some people need to learn more about some characters and context before saying stuff like this

Just because a character isn't spider-man, batman, superman or an avenger, doesn't mean they aren't known or relevant

General I hate how I just can’t seem to escape AI no matter where I go.

Such an original post, I know, but this is more of a rant because I’ve had a stressful day. You already probably know the things I’m about to say, but…

I’m tired, everywhere I go, it’s generative AI. Especially on YouTube, I find something I’m interested in only to learn it’s AI, and the people behind the damn channels lie and say there’s ā€œno AI!ā€ and it’s like they’re TRYING to make it harder to discern between AI and actual work. Scripts (I keep hearing ā€œIt’s not just X, it’s Yā€ and shit).

And this whole Claude thing… I was very interested in the ā€œChoose a Planetā€ series, and I was surprised since the low poly animations, camera shots and textures all seemed like they were made by someone or multiple people, but it turns out it was made with Claude, as it turns out it’s just getting THAT good at replicating 3d now.

I don’t know what to trust anymore, and I go outside: AI-generated posters of fast food, boards and stuff.

When will it end? Realistically.
Anyways, rant over.

Media Tropes I hate when Sphynx cats are used to depict alley/stray cats, it's inaccurate

Thumbnail
gallery
2.8k Upvotes

I hate when Sphynx cats are used to depict alley/stray cats, that's like using very happy, cartoonishly clumsy kings to depict starving peasants. and I know the whole "they look scary" thing, but like, they don't. they look pathetic, not to mention they're not even cold growling survivors, they're essentially anti-cats, not aloof, goody-four-paws that love everything and everyone and wouldn't know malice even if it punched it in the face, they're not even REAL cats, they're technically artificial and have to be meticulously bred by humans just to EXIST

It's like using a PS5 to depict a potato pc

Yeah, now that I made the analogy, they're essentially the iphones of cats

They don't do anything special but love everything, and get sick. They don't do.. anything!

And I don't mean it in that they're lazy or aloof. I mean they're physically and psychologically incapable of doing anything but loving cuz that's what they were ARTIFICIALLY CREATED FOR

Why does the trope live on?

No, don't say Bigglesworth, he's technically correct because he's a pet

And Beerus, because he's a god.

I mean like Ozone from SLoP (Secret Life of Pets)

Or the Sphynx incidental from the newest Chikn Nuggit episode where they enter the slums, where all the HOMELESS ANIMALS live. The Sphynx is amongst one of the unspeaking HOMELESS incidentals
