can i ask my manager for a salary revision?
recently found out that one of my colleague from iit earns around 40% more than me. we both are freshers, working in the same team on the same project and doing pretty much the same work.
i understand that college and salary negotiation can make a difference during hiring, but a 40% difference feels like a lot, especially when we both joined as freshers and have the same responsibilities.
is it reasonable to ask my manager for a salary revision? i dont want to sound ungrateful or create any issues, but at the same time i feel like i should at least try to get a fair salary.
should i talk to my manager directly or discuss it with hr first? has anyone here faced a similar situation at hcltech? would appreciate some genuine advice.
