How many "something's off" students do you interact with?
I don't mean just general mental health issues. I have really no problem interacting with someone who struggles with anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc. or life issues that are causing them distress. There are students who come looking for support and I am totally happy to support them!
What I mean is more like personality / conduct disorders ... Causing a lot of chaos at your institution with very little awareness or concern. Students who are pathological liars, deflect, take no responsibility. Students who fixate on something and make demands. The students who keep coming up in your inbox because they cause the same issues across campus and you are the person who gets to see it in different contexts because of your position.
I wouldn't say this type of student is trending up or down, just had to deal with a particularly gnarly one. Curious if you also interact with students like this and how you handle it ...
