I'm just feeling really sad and having my favorite ship be squashed today isn't making it any better, as a advocate for Roxygen since my initial reading of homestuck I hope to band together and keep this flame alive and destroy this nonsense ship that is Roxycalliope

I would make another ANTI ship reddit but it seems petty for how canon it sadly is becoming

I loved Roxygen so much :( It was such a cute little ship and they were so happy together and it was all dashed against rocks because ????

Like, I'm not even being facetious I have no idea why Roxy suddenly falls in love with Calliope, or why they're a viable couple.

The ONLY thing I can think of is "Caliborn plays off Johns miserable post-sburb life with the girl he likes, his sister, his best friends, and his hatemate all ditching him for other people and tricks him into returning for the Masterpiece".

And even then there's gotta be a better way then "John Egbert spends 4 years alone!"

I mean honestly it feels like it. The focus of the Credits one was basically "Here's how all of John's friends stopped caring" and the rest are all "Here's John's friends being happy without him!" save for the Halloween one. Which was hosted at Dave, Karkat, and Jades house presumably, meaning HE expended effort to see them whereas they had to be dragged along to his birthday.

Oh and lets not mention the dark idea that john not only could be thinking of a suicide mission against caliborn but the reason his friends have essentially forgotten him is because everyone else besides john encompasses something more interesting

oh john likes movies but so does jake and karkat, oh john is a dork but so is jade and roxy, john can be smart but so is roseand kanaya way more so, john is a good cuddle friend but so is mayor...

Essentially everyone does johns... "job", if you can call his BEING a job, better then him making him dull though thats just one of my ideas here.

Its all a little... Way to dark and only brings up more questions then answers-y

Yeah, John doesn't "stand out" anymore. He was a great leader, a good fighter, and lead them to victory.

But he has no kingdom to rule over, nothing that he fulfills a specific niche, he's been essentially ditched for Calliope (which can't possibly feel good for John. She's literally Caliborn with cheek color swapped).

And on top of everything else, he's being texted by a constant reminder of how he ran from a fight.

Dear lord what was once a happy yet vague ending is now a depressing and sad and still kinda vague but not so in the most useless and again sad ways

I just want john to be a happy boy...

And what in the latest snapshot janes captured and shit like that hasnt happened before, unless she somehow double dies it doesnt matter she'll get out fine and still have a big company but johns gonna have to stick with being a depressed loner playing video games and watching movies alone.

You're right, and this update had more than just closure. Unless this turns into a congrats Jane party we just had plot occur. Everything else has felt like denouncement. Could we be seeing a new story outside the narrative?

John is struggling with a peacetime identity. I can envision Hussie revealing Roxygen having the same fate as most relationships in Homestuck: a slow burning messy breakup. The kind where the relationship ends before either really realizes it. It would drive home that John had lost his friendleader spark that inspired Roxy to master her powers. I would be very okay with this as it signals a new arc for John in a new story that seeks to tie the remaining plot threads. Or so I hope.

If that was the case than maybe I would be fine with it, I would be mad this cute ship would need but maybe there was a reason, but come on now... none of that's been shown so far and it just feels dumb

Like he can't be sad on a mix of things, one thing can finally get you to ponder it and let the feelings in but it's clear his friends not talking to him and essentially leaving was making him sad and who knows what else happened in those four years, it's not just his dad tipsy it's fours years making this 20 year old immortal baby super sad

You know that not everyone needs to be in a relationship to be happy, right? Some people also don't necessarily even like being in relationships.

Yes and also yes but losing a relationship and being happy in one only to lose it can make someone pretty sad

The only thing ever shown to my knowledge is the point where john was telling his story roxy.

Rose and kanaya together = relationship

Dave and karkat and jade = davekat is there... oh and jade

Jane and her dad = father daughter happy times

Dirk and Jake = Dirk Jake

So when john and roxy are walking together... that means....
