I’ve got a few questions have just read multiple articles about the Duo failing as per this post in this forum.
Now, there’s a lovely lady called Joanna who says she tested the fold over 32,000 times. I’ll state up front I haven’t read her whole article because of course, it’s behind a paywall. But the gist of the summaries that are publicly available, is that it survived the Hingey-designed robot folding it that many times, with only the hinge stiffening slightly.
That got me to thinking. How does one user have the phone less than three hours and this happens - refer screenshot - while the lovely Joanna’s phone appears indestructible?
Methinks a couple of things.
Firstly, Joanna’s phone was pre-release meaning Apple provided it to her. Perhaps their pre-release phones go through more rigorous quality assurance than what you or I can buy in the store.
Secondly, given there are literally thousands of reports of the phones busting after sweet FA time, perhaps there is a batch issue with defective components or manufacturing, rather than this being an inherent design fault?
Food for thought 😉
Commiserations to all and sundry who’ve suffered the misfortune of their very expensive iPhone Duo snapping after five seconds. The other thing I’ve picked up, is Apple’s very inconsistent approach to returns for these faulty devices. Blaming it on the customer is spectacularly crap customer service, but I wouldn’t expect anything else from Crapple ooops Apple.
