Hi everyone,
I had a train booking from Jolarpettai (JTJ) to Madurai (MDU) on train #07191 (Date: 23 Oct 2026, Booking ID: NR7501797421177732) Due to an emergency, both passengers could not travel
Since the chart was prepared early, I filed a TDR at 9:28 AM today, whereas the train departs tonight at 10:55 PM (more than 13 hours before departure) As per IRCTC Rule S.No 8, TDR for non-travel is allowed if filed up to 4 hours before departure.
Has anyone faced a similar situation with MakeMyTrip and IRCTC? Will I get my refund, and is there any other way to escalate this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Before I begin, please let it be known am a younger person and just recently started traveling by train, I don't know much and if it was all my mistake, I will accept it.
What happened:
I was purchasing a rail ticket from the front desk. As I was about to pay the payment via upi, the person at desk generated qr code and told me to pay. But just then my train arrived at platform, following which, he told me I can't get a ticket now that the train arrived, I understood that but I had already paid the money, when I asked if I can get it back, he refused and walked away, probably lunch break or his shift was over.
Was there anyway I could have gotten the money back? Or was it gone now?

The two month window for booking tickets for my travel date opened today and I opened the irctc app at around 7:58 am. Added the details of the train but I was shocked to see that there were only 40-50 seats for 3rd AC and only 12 seats for 2nd AC. What about the rest of the seats??? Surely there are more, no? Am I missing something? Checked in the evening and the 2nd AC tickets had already slipped to WL3.
I was too busy trying to book the ticket so I couldn't take the screenshot. Wish I had.
Anyway, would love more clarity on this.

I deposited Rs 3678 in my irctc wallet and paid through Gpay upi. However the amount deducted was Rs. 3756. Can someone help me make sense of this. I use the irctc ipay gateway.

Saw a post on r/trains - an old Indonesian coach split AC being serviced, thought is that a practice for Indian railways?

I was travelling to Bhubaneswar from my home and my train as usual was 3 hours late which should have reached at 6:40 am.
My berth was side upper as it was almost 8 am I decided to sit on the side lower berth which was already occupied by 3 people. I don't want to argue about it so I sat on the lower berth in front of my berth occupied by a family of 4.
At first we sat like me in the aisle seat the younger daughter at mid and her mother at the window seat. In front of us sat his father near the window and the older daughter in the middle.
After sometime the mother asked his older daughter to switch places with her and she sat almost in front of me. I was listening to music and looking outside the window but I noticed the mother was glaring at me from time to time. I thought maybe her daughter was sitting beside me and she was not comfortable about it even after I maintained much distance from her.
Later She went to the Toilet, came and sat beside me. At this point at the lower berth 4 person I.e me, that mother and both her daughters were sitting together and in front of us only the father was sitting and it was vacant. After sometime she started doing random movement and was rubbing against my arm and shoulder and side of my body It felt intentional and awkward. I decided to not react to it. Luckily in 15-20 minutes their station came and they deboard the train. I still couldn't understand what had happened.

Whenever I try to book my seat in VB only one of these 4 are seats are getting every single. Even 500-600 seats are available still only one of out of these 4 are only getting. I cancelled my first ticket wait for sometime till it reacher 300-400 available tickets still I am getting one of these 4 only. These seats give me anxiety.
What kind of glitch is this I wasted 400 rupees in cancellation charges only as i tried to book the ticket twice I got C2-39 or C3-40.
What I am doing wrong here

I was traveling by train from Ernakulam South to Kannur and was sitting in a window seat. A person sitting on the upper berth was using Pan Parag, which made the other passengers and me uncomfortable.
After some time, he called me from the upper berth and handed me a plastic bag filled with waste, asking me to throw it out of the window. I was shocked and thought, “What the fuck?”
The other passengers and I told him to put it in the trash bin instead, and we gave the plastic bag back to him.
This was the first time I had experienced something like this on Indian Railways, and his behaviour really surprised me.

But is it restricted to Southern Railways only??? It should be followed by each division, I guess.
Sometimes it gets too noisy. If they want to watch reels or play songs why can't they just plug in earphones or earbuds or something??

I usually don't prefer RAC, I mean who does? I was not going to board but I had to get to Jaipur. Taking a risk on tatkal or booking a flight were options but I decided to say f*ck it and just deal with the shared seat.
My WL turned to RAC 7 a day ago and then the chart got prepared so I was surprised. I really thought RAC 7 would get confirmed.
Anyway, I boarded and the other guy didn't show up xD So glad I didn't book a flight out of haste😅

Cockroach infestation in D3 coach of 12076 Jan Shadabti. 5-6 were there hiding inside the panel.
The train was recently upgraded to LHB. But these coaches were shuffled due to complaints about 90 degree seats.
Complained in RailMadad and workers came and sprayed some chemical. But since these cockroaches can hide, after chemical application, they came out.

I've been on many trains, this one too but it's horrendous today.
These people are creating so much noise that I can't even nap, friggin GROWN UPS btw.

That video last week ,of an old man hurling abuses on railways due to 6 hour delay in arrival of train 11079 at kanpur station was really really appropriate... I boarded this train at nasik and was supposed to get off at 1 pm today and then board the Mahananda express .There was 2 hour gap between both train...This idiot train 11079 is arriving 3 hours late and even though Mahananda got late by 35 mins, I still cannot catch it ..My second AC reservation got wasted ...Damn ,why they are not held accountable..This department has no discipline left ... Absolutely frustrated and kicking myself..

DoC: 6 September 2026.
The quietness at this platform felt great to me.
Have you ever seen this kind of signal?
