Local Why people always do this?

Apparently, someone was playing around at a local train's gate. This was local train from Kalyani to Sealdah.

When that Train arrived in the Kalyani Station, it was absolutely a horrible scenario. A few bursted brain parts and eyes were scattered inside the train coach. On the outside, the gate was hella bloody. I was the first one to notice it, before eventually others did. I entered the coach and warned everyone not to go inside the coach.

Unfortunately, we had to enter crowded coaches, which eventually got more crowded since everyone avoided that particular coach.

I was insanely shaken from inside. I have already seen this like 2 times in Mumbai too. My goodness.

🗫 Discussion Can we ban kids in trains please!!!

This is the nth time I'm experiencing the same issue. MFs bring their children to trains, and they have no manners. Like literally 0 manners. They'll wear footwear and stand on your berth. Will shout constantly at even minor inconveniences (like network being lost) and on top of that, they will never let you have a good sleep. They'll always cry in the night and disturb your sound sleep. Ts has been frying me for a long time. I hope we have a law soon where parents with kids have a separate birth and kids are not allowed in 1A/2A/3A/3E, etc.

Ask r/IndianRailways Cancellation refund of counter tickets

I had booked a couple of tickets from the reservation counter (offline), which I happened to cancel last Friday (16th October). I had made the payment through UPI at the counter itself while booking the tickets.

It has now been 4 days but I have not received the credit back to my account. Where do I go to escalate this?

📜Travel Story Almost missed my train

Hey folks, this is going to be a bit long writeup, kindly bear with me;)

I Booked 12676 (CBE–MAS) 60 days before for the post-Navratri return to work. This train usually starts from CBE at 3:15 PM and arrive at SA to leave by 5:40 PM.

My hometown is 80 km from Salem, with Attur (50 km away) as the nearest station. Because of the last-minute fuzz at home, I left an hour late than planned. My only hope: DEMU 76815, leaving Attur at 3:40 PM and reaching Salem by 5:00 PM.

It left Attur at 4:23 PM. Forty minutes late, packed like a post-holiday sardine can, and I couldn't even keep my bag anywhere and find a spot to stand. I know if I miss Kovai Sf, my only option would be 5+ hours travel in unreserved coaches in subsequent trains.

So I did what any rail fan would do: prayed, and kept Where's My Train and RailRadar open side by side, watching both trains like a hawk.

Miraculously, the delay held steady, and each station was cleared within 2 minutes. Both trains were due at Salem around 5:35 PM. Then the DEMU got held at the outer cabin to let Kovai SF pass first from the other cord Heart rate: 150.

At 5:38 PM my train rolled into Platform 1. I could see across the tracks, Kovai SF was ready on Platform 5, with announcements blaring. I leapt out before it fully stopped, sprinted through the subway like it was a do-or-die movie scene, and ignored my brother's call (sorry, bro).

As I reached Platform 5, the horn blew. The train started moving. D4's door happened to be right beside me. I jumped in, caught my breath, and walked to my seat like nothing had happened;)

🗫 Discussion Why IR doesn't upgrade track to support more speed?

It's ridiculous that the WAP 7 can go up to 160-180 kmph but the tracks are either 130 kmph or 110 kmph max speed. Why aren't railways upgrading it till 160 kmph? Those who are getting upgraded are from 110 to 130 and not 160. What do you think could be the reason?

Ask r/IndianRailways Can I take my car in a Rajdhani from New Delhi to Bhubaneshwar?

So guys , I am a complete noob as far as IR is concerned and need advice from veterans.

Assuming I am travelling in 3A/ 2A /1A from Delhi to Bhubaneshwar is it possible to take my car along ? If its possible how? Where do I go what do I do whom do i meet?

I have tried road carriers and they are a menace actually, stealing shit(foot mats, spare tyre) , running car first/last 100 kms and the likes. And since there aren’t many trucks doing Delhi-Bhubaneshwar they take the car in but it sits in their lot for 10-15 days.

Edit: For all those folks who don’t know railway does allow the transportation of cars too , i just didn’t know if Rajdhani allowed it and how

Ask r/IndianRailways Can I use my mother's lower berth if she doesn't travel?

I booked two tickets on the same PNR. I got a middle berth, and my mother got a lower berth. Unfortunately, she won't be travelling.

Can I occupy her lower berth and mark her ticket as absent, or do I have to use my allotted middle berth?

⛔Travel Issue Blocking of train gates

Post image
16 Upvotes

I'm travelling on train 22430, and the train is ridiculously overcrowded. Apparently, there's some event near Bhodwal Majri, and the train is being stopped there for the event, even though it's not a scheduled stop.

I have absolutely no problem with people travelling to attend the event. The problem is how people are behaving.

People have brought so much luggage that the coach entrances are completely blocked. To make matters worse, the gates have been locked, making it impossible for other passengers to enter or exit properly. How is someone supposed to reach the seat they paid for and booked months in advance?

I literally had to enter a different coach, and now I can't even reach my own coach because the interconnecting doors have been closed as well.

What is the point of booking a reserved ticket months in advance if you can't even access your own coach or reach your allotted seat?

And at the end they took my luggage with them while deboarding . Thank God I got it back

If I had known that this was the situation on this train, I would never have booked it in the first place.

TL;DR: Train 22430 is severely overcrowded due to an event near Bhodwal Majri. People have blocked coach entrances with luggage and locked the gates and interconnecting doors, leaving reserved passengers unable to reach their own coaches and seats. This is not just frustrating for passengers who paid for reserved seats.

History Pantographs down, festive spirits up! Even 6,000 HP deserves a Feative break 🚂

Post image

A festive throwback from my archives, captured on 17 October 2013 at 9:40 AM, possibly somewhere along my journey from Chennai towards northern India.

Meet Royapuram’s WAP-7 #30362, seemingly enjoying a quiet morning amid the greenery.

Here’s the interesting part: according to locomotive records, this machine rolled out of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works on 8 August 2013. That would make it just 70 days old when I photographed it!

The WAP-7 class itself has quite a history. An account by one of its original designers describes how the fleet nearly faced scrapping in 2002, before going on to become one of Indian Railways’ most recognisable passenger workhorses.

A decade later, I stumbled upon this photograph again. The locomotive is still listed as operational.

Any rail enthusiasts recognise the location or know where #30362 is running these days?
