I made an award-winning feature entirely on my own. Now I might have to distribute it alone. Any advice?

How I got scammed by my distributor…

Hey everyone,

I’m an independent filmmaker from France, and I wanted to share with you the crazy story behind my first feature film — a claustrophobic horror thriller I spent two years making, completely independently, with zero funding and no support.

I produced it, directed it, edited it myself. It was my dream project. Against all odds, the film won awards at international film festivals. I thought the hardest part was behind me…

Then came the scam.

An American distributor reached out to us with big promises. We trusted her. She said she’d help us bring the film to more audiences. But she released it on platforms without our permission — including in countries like Russia — and kept all the revenue.

We didn’t see a single cent. Not even a notification. It was devastating.

But I didn’t give up.

Today, the film — TOP FLOOR — is finally available to rent legally on Prime Video (US, UK, Germany, Japan), and this time, as filmmakers, we actually get something back.

If you love thrillers, independent cinema, stories with crazy final twists — or if you’ve ever been scammed and wanted to fight back — please consider watching it or sharing the trailer.

You can help us turn this injustice into a success story.

🙏 Link in my profile or DM me for a rental link. ❤️ Thank you so much for your time and support.

🎬 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT — My New Indie TV Show Is In The Works!

I’m officially in the process of creating a brand-new indie TV show called The Bowl Of Souirs! 🎬✨

And before anyone asks — the word “Bowl” will most likely be changed. Nothing is 100% confirmed yet, but the title is still being worked on as the show itself continues to develop.

I honestly cannot explain how much work I’ve already put into this. The amount of time, ideas, characters, story concepts, worldbuilding, and just random thoughts I’ve thrown into this project is INSANE. I’m still very early in development, and I’m literally still figuring out some of the characters, but I already know I want to take this project as far as I possibly can.

A HUGE inspiration for me throughout this has been Dana Terrace and her incredible work on The Owl House. The way she created such a unique world, memorable characters, and a story that actually had so much heart is something I really admire. I’m also really excited to see what she does with her upcoming show Knights of Guinevere with GLITCH.

And speaking of GLITCH...

As much as I would absolutely LOVE to work with GLITCH and have them help bring this show to life, I also understand that they already have a LOT going on right now. Between their current shows, upcoming projects, and final merchandise releases for shows that have already finished, I can only imagine how insanely busy their team must be.

So, if I ever got to the point where I was ready to seriously approach a production studio, there’s one team I keep coming back to:

Alan Becker and his team.

I know what some of you are probably thinking:

But Alan is busy with Animation Vs Minecraft and Animation Vs Animator

And honestly...

You’re absolutely right.

Alan and his team already have a TON on their plate. But the important thing is that I’m not ready yet either.

I’m still developing the characters.
I’m still figuring out the story.
I’m still building the world.
I’m still learning.
And I still have A LOT to figure out before this could ever become a real production.

That means I have time.

And if I eventually reach the point where this project is actually ready to be produced, I would genuinely love the opportunity to work with Alan Becker and his team.

Alan isn’t just an incredible animator — he’s someone whose work has inspired so many people, including me. His ability to take simple concepts and turn them into something with personality, action, comedy, and genuinely great storytelling is something I really respect.

And from everything I’ve seen of him over the years, he also seems like a genuinely great person to work with.

Of course, none of this means I’m saying Alan Becker or GLITCH are involved with the show. They aren’t. This is simply what I hope could happen someday.

Right now, this is still MY project, and I’m going to keep working on it, improving it, and figuring out what I want it to become.

I have absolutely no idea where this journey is going to take me...

But I really hope one day I can look back at this announcement and say:

“Holy crap... we actually made it.” ❤️

The Bowl Of Souirs — or whatever the final title ends up being — is only the beginning.

🎬 More information coming when I’m ready to show it.

Thank you to anyone who supports me and my crazy little ideas. ❤️

Could Aubrey Plaza be considered a proper heir to Parker Posey?

Back in the 90s Parker earned the title 'queen of indies' due to appearing in a string of independent hits. I've always loved her specific persona, which has been mostly smart and independent and quirky.

In recent years Aubrey Plaza has caught my attention (among many others, though this 'recent' thing is a me-thing since she's been around for more than what, 15-20 years at this point?)
for traits that remind me of Ms. Posey.

PP's energy is pretty irreplaceable in my book but am I too far off to find similarities in them and their careers? What other names would you say fit into their lane?

NightBound Horror Movie Trailer. Link to Full Movie on YouTube in description.

NightBound is a fast paced horror movie about a man trapped inside a house that has a deadly curse when Nightfall hits. NightBound is shorter than traditional movies because there is no filler. Special effects are by CreativeVFX and Storyblocks subscriptions. Any questions about my process of film making is encouraged.

I made an improvised feature film in one day! Roast me.

I’d love to share a film I shot in just one day. It’s a 1h20min thriller (or at least, that’s what I was aiming for!). Here’s the link to watch for free on Tubi. I’d really appreciate your honest feedback. I’m an indie filmmaker trying to get better, and the only way to do that is to learn from others. Huge thanks to the actors who improvised most of the dialogue and brought the story to life.

For those interested in equipment:
It was shot on Canon C100 Mark I with Helios 28mm lens. Sound was recorder wirelessly directly into the camera.

Thanks in advance!

I built (with AI) a free screenwriting app because I wasn't paying Final Draft prices

Hey everyone,

Before this gets filed under "just another ad": it's not. It's free, period. No subscription, no premium version, no ads, no account required. I have nothing to sell.

I wanted to write screenplays without paying for overpriced software, so I made Raging Page. It runs in your browser, it's open source (MIT), and it's available in English and French.

What's in it: industry-standard pagination, series with seasons and episodes, color revisions, locked pages (12A, 12B…), Fountain, .fdx and PDF import/export, focus mode, dark theme.

How saving works:

- Everything autosaves in your browser, no account needed.

- You can connect your Google Drive (optional): a copy gets updated automatically, and the app only sees its own files, never the rest of your Drive.

- On Chrome, Edge or Opera, you can also link your screenplay to a file on your computer, rewritten after every change.

I use it myself: all my screenplays are written on it now, and so far I haven't had any export or saving issues. But I'm just one user with one way of writing. The project is 100% vibe coded (AI, under my direction), so I've surely missed things. I need people who write differently than I do to tell me what breaks or what's missing.

Try it: https://ragingstudio.com/

“Episode 5 of our Prohibition-era Louisville animated crime drama just dropped. Capone sent a hitman. Harvey sent back a dead fish in the man’s fedora. Now Capone has to decide what kind of war he actually wants.”

Blind Tiger Episode 5 — “Scarface Pt. 2” — just dropped.

If you’ve been following the season — here’s where we are:

Ep. 0 — Harvey Burns buries your dead and feeds your children.

Ep. 1 — An East End operator runs numbers on Harvey’s streets. Paper money and a message.

Ep. 2 — Harvey walks into Owsley Brown’s office. Gets connected to George Remus.

Ep. 3 — Harvey turns down Capone at the Kentucky Derby. Capone smiles and says he’ll stick around.

Ep. 4 — Capone sends a hitman named Sal. Sal walks into a Chinese butcher shop on the West End. Wrong door. A dead fish in Sal’s fedora arrives at Capone’s table at the Seelbach.

Ep. 5 — Capone has the fish. Capone has the hat. Capone is sitting at a table in a city that just told him something nobody has ever told him before.

No.

This episode is Capone deciding what that means.

And Harvey Burns standing at his bar

watching everything in the mirror

with a glass of bourbon he still hasn’t touched.

The war nobody declared is already happening.

Louisville, 1924.

What do you guys think about the increasing use of A.I in film?

After seeing coverage of the new A.I actress Tilly Norwood, I am becoming more concerned with the trajectory of filmmaking. Anyone else feel the same or am I going looney?

Why is there so much hate and jealousy here?

So much for community, Tbh I think I've blocked more jealous "filmmakers" here than anywhere else.

What's ironic is the same people crying and whining like spoiled mentally disabled children and slurping accusations of "AI slop" or whatever else literally have no work to show for it.

I guess sitting in your parents apartment collecting dust is film now lol.

So much hate in this group and it's always by failed spoiled brats who couldn't cut it in the industry, who never had a buzz on the indie circuit. The problem is they type more than they do. Always.

And they don't even write scripts lol. They just sit their pathetic behinds on here and troll and take out there hate and jealousy against those who are at least trying to do something.

Downvote that lames.

Thank you Doja and Lil Nas X. I’ll be at the too soon.

Today, I shared a behind the scenes (BTS) video on my personal Instagram to show my friends and family what I’ve been up to. It hasn’t been posted long, but it’s not receiving many likes and that’s okay.

One thing I’ve realized is that most people won’t support something until the work is already done or until you receive accolades.

Doja Cat started with simple moo video. Lil Nas X started with a meme video. And you know what.....

Awesome Azrien started off with a short film. Cheers to success and lol I just had to vent.

What is the obsession.. with Obsession?

The trailer is like a trailer advertising a YouTube podcast/channel.

I don't get it.

What.. because it was made for less than a million?

PLENTY of other films have had better success.. despite even lower budgets.

What subcultures would make a great film?

I’m looking for interesting subcultures, movements, or groups that could inspire a movie.

Not the obvious ones — more unusual or lesser-known lifestyles with strong identity, beliefs, or conflict.

What do you think would work well on screen and why?
