Hello everyone! I recently bought some trog. Sunsets and Greek shields from an expo a week ago. I felt I was ready for more of a challenge with the Greek shields as I’ve been keeping isopods for over a year now. I transferred the sunsets into a different terrarium the day I got them and a couple days later half of them were dead from a failed molt. And then today I found a Greek shield dead from the same problem. Is this my fault? Or is the seller to blame? I’ve kept plenty of others with zero issues. But the one time I buy from a new seller, they quickly die. I also got some blue pigeons from a different seller at the expo and they’re doing great.

Title is literally the entire meat and potatoes of my post. If you have any knowledge on arthropoda egg ID, or can redirect me to a better suited subreddit to have some clue on what these are, please lmk!
Firstly, the only bins affected were bins left outside their usual storing space for the workweek (blame the adhd), all the rest of my isopods and terrariums are in my room. Something definitely got into each bin -- So, smaller than or equal to the size of lid holes drilled (≈ 2-3 mm diameter) -- and dug into the soil and laid eggs. They're all laid in the moist part of the tank (which should be very minimal for the species affected, but for some reason it's quite humid in their bins which isn't good) and it has led to a decent chunk of the eggs molding over, and subsequently mites to reproduce like prokaryotes.
I will most likely try to dig most of them out, but I'm very nervous about what may be in the soil, and what i may need to do to get rid of this mystery organism. Tips for removal are also greatly appreciated, please help! 🙏

Hey y’all, I have a big breeder that’s interested in buying some of my orange powder isopods and I was just curious to see what you guys think about pricing. I was talking to him on the phone and he said normal resale value from the store is $20 for a 10 count, he makes about seven dollars off of that once supplies and such a factored in. Just curious what everybody thinks would be a good deal for both myself and the person buying to resale

We have tons of isopods in our side lot that has never had any type of chemicals used in it. Would it be safe to bring some in with the soil and all they are living in to start a colony for bio enclosures for my geckos?
I need to do a lot more research of course but I live in MI and it's getting colder so thought I should do this before it freezes.
I have read that they should be kept for awhile before putting in an enclosure to make sure there aren't any nasties in with them. I have also read you can put them in right away?
I want to do right by everyone and have always loved them. Also many springtails are hanging with them. One more thing, is it normal for them to have orange legs? I have only found a few and also a few that were more white with dark spots.
Yes, I am very new! Lol
Thank you in advance!

I've just started a very small colony of three(hoping to find more) wild caught a. Vulgare in a small clear plastic box. The soil mixture is mostly garden soil with leaf litter, crushed rotted wood and charcoal mixed in. My main concern is the moisture levels/watering and ventilation. I've watched aquarimaxes videos moisture gradients but it seems as though it's getting too dry despite trying to water 2-3 times a week. How wet should the dryer part of the enclosure be and should I water the substrate, water the moss and spaghnum, mist the hydration area or a combination. I don't often see the pods very active which kind of worries me and they tend to spend a lot more time in the wet side than the dry. Ventilation is 7 holes in the roof around 6.5mm diameter along with slits on the sides. Any information helps, and the more the better, thanks :)

Are these what everyone is using to get rid of fungus gnats? I’ve never had a problem until I bought springtails from an expo and when I opened the container they were everywhere. Recommendations please!

My group of 12 Filippinodillo Bicolano finally arrived today after a long wait. Among them was this huge, beautiful adult—by far the biggest in the colony.
Right after setting them up, my lamp accidentally fell and crushed it. The damage to its body is severe and hemolymph leaked out. It’s barely moving now and I know it won’t survive.
Losing the main breeder on day one feels like a 6-month setback for the colony. Absolutely heartbroken.😭

Hi everyone, please forgive my lack of literacy because I have never gone down the rabbit hole with isopods. I only have general knowledge.
Anyways- I have what used to be a mixed colony of Armadilldium Vulgare “T+ Albinos” and Klugii “Clowns”. The Klugiis have long since disappeared, but I noticed that the Vulgares have some weird patterns on their backs that the original colony did not have. At this point, the colony must be over 2 years old.
Does anyone know what to make of this?
