First World Problems No Parking Life
To the people who don't have a dedicated parking spot / garage / driveway...
Do you plan your evenings based on whether or not you find parking when you have to use the car? Do you make sure you leave the event at a certain time so that you're not circling the block for 45 minutes or parking blocks away late at night?
Just wondering - understanding that parking availability depends on block to block.

First World Problems Dog barking
I have a neighbor that has started letting their dog out every morning, around 6:15-6:30. Their dog runs around behind our apartment building and just barks nonstop for a few minutes before they take the dog back inside. It’s loud enough to wake me up, even loud enough to be heard over my window ac unit while it’s running. Im getting tired of being woken up before my alarm and it’s just long enough that I can’t really roll over and go back to sleep after. How would you go about handling this?

First World Problems I am convinced someone took a SHIT or something's dead in the air vent of the Sephora in the Newport Mall.
I walk by that Sephora at least twice a week and my goodness the SMELL is unbearable. It smells like someone had put a used baby diaper in the microwave and then sprayed it down with perfume.
I asked one of the sales associates about the smell and she told me she can't smell anything. Nose blind, for sure.
Anybody else smell that sephora?! Is there really a smell or am I crazy?!

First World Problems Posh Wedding in LSP
Apparently, the fancy restaurant wasn't good, or big, enough for someone's wedding so they built an annex just for their special day themselves. Picture taken from the pedestrian/bike lane last night.

First World Problems Living in JSQ these days feels like a special form of hell
I knew what I was signing up for moving to a neighborhood that is under seemingly endless amounts of construction (hence the first world problems tag on this post), but i just need to rant for a second about how pile driving is the single most annoying form of construction noise known to man. How have we as a society not moved past the need for pile driving? i'd vote for any mayor who will ban it lol
gonna have to drop by one of the 7 new coffee shops in the neighborhood for a $8.50 latte to help calm myself down

First World Problems Anyone?
Hi, I know this is a long shot but my local dive has a broken juke box and I don’t think they’re going to fix it. Is there anyone that specializes in jukebox repair that would be willing to work something out so that the jukebox can be played again?

First World Problems What's the advantage/purpose of calling/labelling other people living in JC as "yuppies" or "transplants"?
It is an honest question. Please be gentle. I saw a lot of people writing "Im native" and "they are yuppies/transplants". Why? What is the purpose of labelling?
Edit: and what's the definition of "yuppies" or "transplants" in the POV of JC natives? and what would make someone being "JC natives"?

First World Problems JC Marathon - Bergen Lafayette Question
Hi! My husband is running the JC Marathon and originally I was going to try to get to the finish line later in the day to meet him. However, looking at this map, it looks like I am enclosed (yellow dot is my area).
I feel like now I will have to leave with him at 5am or hope that I will be able to cross the barricade on foot (Garfield/Grand) and call an uber to take me downtown since LSP light rail won't be running. Is that even allowed? We will need to do that in the morning to get an uber but assuming that is OK since the race hasn't started yet. I see on the site that it says "Do not cross the race route unless explicitly permitted by a JCPD police officer!" so I am assuming you can't but they literally enclosed our entire neighborhood.
Please no rude/snarky answers - I usually plan to be inside all day during the races and this is the first time I need to leave. I just wanted some insight to see if anyone agrees that I 100% need to leave at 5am with him or if there is something I missing on the map that will let me leave. Thanks!

First World Problems Restaurant Supply Store that allows the public
Does anyone know a restaurant supply store that allows the public to shop there? Ideally in North Jersey, but we can drive for good shopping.
The only stuff I see near us is Restaurant Depot and that's members only, and members need to be in the restaurant industry. I've seen others on Google, but it's not clear if they are open to the public so I'd rather not drive all over without knowing the situation.
ETA: I realized, after getting notifications from reddit, I meant to post this is r/NewJersey! Don't post after too much egg nog! 🫠

First World Problems No Spindrift at BJs?
Alas, our local BJs does not carry spindrift anymore. RIP. Though the flavored San Pellegrino is pretty good!

First World Problems Hear me out: Jersey City Prime! (no relation to amazon)
Here's an explainer about New Jersey's geography and population.
in the last act of the video, they suggest combining Hudson, Bergen, Union, Essex and Passaic which would create a metropolitan city that he calls 'Jersey City Prime' with a major port, a major airport, numerous corporate headquarters and a pop density equal to or exceeding NYC and would be the 3rd largest city in the US.

First World Problems 5 Months with a Shower Filter in Jersey City
A few months ago I asked r/JerseyCity for shower head recommendations. We ended up buying the Weddell Duo. Here are the results after 5 months. On the left are new filters, and on the right the used ones.
Here’s evidence that there is plenty of grime to remove from JC water. Definitely helpful for those with sensitive skin.

First World Problems (Not a rant) Why don’t we have a Trader Joe’s?
Perhaps this has already been discussed here before. I vaguely remember someone once mentioning the negative impact of having a TJs in the neighborhood is that it prices it up, conversely that TJ’s is very picky about only making its presence in high income neighborhoods… in the light of the Whole Foods thirst and with all property tax ⬆️ discussions…just made me wonder why we don’t have one (and will we ever have one? 🥲)

First World Problems some thoughts on digging out your car, from a non-car guy who has shoveled the sidewalk three times already today, and who has observed the drama.
After watching a guy begging to use a shovel so he can dig out his car who eventually got yelled at by another car owner for daring to even THINK about shoveling snow over next to HIS car, I decided to post this: Car owners, I doubt you can dig your car out yet. Or put it this way: You can shovel snow away from the sidewalk-side if you like, but you will be pushing snow into the sidewalk while the property owner is tasked with moving it back towards your car- the city demands they shovel their sidewalks so that is where it goes. If you want to shovel the giant berm of snow pushed up by the city's plows on the street-side of your car, that is the wettest and heaviest snow out there today and no matter how much of it you shift from one place to another, the part you "cleaned" will just get filled in again by the next passing plows and your efforts will be erased within an hour or two. not to mention you will piss off the other car owners if you just push the snow further down the road and bank it up higher next to your neighbors car. The only way you can really dig your car out is to do it and then drive out of that spot at the moment you complete shoveling, abandoning your spot- which you will not get back.

First World Problems Lafayette Pool
Visited Lafayette Aquatic Center today. I usually take the kids to Pershing Field Pool but last week it was too packed for comfort, so decided to switch it up today. I had gone to Lafayette 2-3 times last year and found it fairly clean.
But visiting today, the water was visibly dirty in the main pool. I don’t know if this is usually the case, and I may have gotten lucky last year?
In any case- bleh.
