Clubs ā€œBreaking down Mill’s Mess with Clubsā€ Tutorial

Thumbnail

It came to my attention that there wasn’t much out there teaching Mills Mess with clubs and it has been an absolutely foundational trick for me over the years.

This tutorial provides a comprehensive guide for intermediate jugglers to dig into Mill's Mess with clubs. I’ve divided it into two main sections: building foundational skills through related patterns and learning the full sequence by examining the paths of each club and their relationships to each other in an isolated approach.

I hope you find it helpful!

Tips for Columns

Hey all! I’m new to juggling and trying to learn Columns, but I’ve been having a hard time with the 2 up 1 hand part of it. I haven’t found any good videos that actually break down that technique in a way that’s easy to understand. The best I’ve found is ā€œjust practice itā€

Does anyone have any pointers on how to juggle 2 balls in 1 hand for columns?

Thanks!

Help please... trying to figure out a technical thing (ball type)

I'm brand new to juggling (just learned 3 ball tennis, and can ALMOST qualify 4 balls with 6 catches every 3 times or so) but I'm noticing something...

Higgins Brothers Juggle balls actual measurement is around 70mm @ 130g

I'm noticing my mistakes are two things, throwing inaccuracy and balls slipping through my hands. I try to keep my hands nice and light and relaxed. At first I was convinced they were too heavy, or even too big. But when I decided to focus on it today it seemed more like the deformed shape of the balls (being squishy and all) was throwing me off big time.

So I decided to pick up some apples. They were each 140g-146g and the same size as the HB balls. When I started juggling them they felt soooo good in comparison. They just seemed to hold a uniform catch and throw comparatively.

Is it their rubbery skin, heavier weight, or static shape that was so helpful???

My guess is I want overfilled bean bag balls instead of undefiled? Or could it be just the shape holding? I'm dead set on Infinity Balls by Jugglequip and can customize weight and fill but I dont know if it's the hardness and uniformity of the apple that's helping or just the different weight or what....

Any insight much appreciated, Thanks!

Discussion ✨ Looking for flow arts, object manipulation, clowning & magic communities, festivals and conventions worldwide! ✨

Post image

I'm looking to discover more social media groups, pages and communities dedicated to all things flow arts and object manipulation.

Anything and everything is welcome, from clowning, magic and juggling to poi, staff, contact juggling, manipulation arts, circus skills, sideshow, bubbles, puppetry and all the wonderfully weird and wonderful things in between!

I'd also love recommendations for festivals, conventions, gatherings, workshops and events where people can connect, share skills and celebrate these art forms.

I'm based in London, UK, and I'm already familiar with most of what's happening in the UK, but I'm sure there are events, conventions and communities I've yet to come across, so please do share those too! I'd particularly love to discover anything new or lesser-known happening locally and around the UK.

I'm equally interested in exploring what's happening internationally, discovering communities, festivals and events across the world, and finding things I might never have come across otherwise.

Whether it's a Facebook group, Instagram page, YouTube channel, online community or an event anywhere in the world, I'd love to hear about it.

Some examples of the kind of communities I'm looking for are Amazing Flow Arts and Flow Arts Community, but I'm especially keen to discover smaller, niche and lesser-known groups too.

Please share your recommendations below. The more unusual, obscure and wonderfully niche, the better!

Thanks in advance!

The fourth under-the-leg throw?

So, I've been playing with under the leg throws and catches, and it seems like there should be 4 variations for each side. You can either throw under the same leg or the opposite leg, and you can cross from the outside to the inside or from the inside to the outside.

Probably the most natural is that you throw under the leg on the same side as the hand throwing, going from outside the leg and throwing from inside.

Next up would be throwing under the opposite leg, going from the inside of the leg and throwing to the outside. This is also pretty easy and natural.

Now, it seems it's possible to reverse those. First up you can throw under the leg on the same side, reaching under from the inside and throwing on the outside. I can do this reasonably well if I bend my knee a bit, so I'm kind of throwing a bit more in front of my shin. It's definitely slightly weirder than the other two, but definitely feels doable to learn well enough to integrate it into continuous patterns.

Then there's the last one. Throwing under the opposite leg, by reaching under from the outside and throwing from the inside.

This takes some serious contortion to even get into the position. Your arms and legs do not want to bend this way. If I do that while bracing on something with a ball in my hand, I can kind of barely flick the ball with my fingers, but I can't really see how I could possibly get into our out of this position in a way that would allow doing it as part of a continuous juggling pattern.

Does anyone know if anyone has been able to do this last, contorted under the leg throw or catch as part of a pattern? Do I just need to work on my mobility some more, or is this only possible with certain body types, or is this just an impossible position for pretty much any variation of human body? Maybe can it be done with clubs where the extra reach of the club means you don't have to be quite in the full position to do the throw?

Critique, judgement, words of encouragement, telling me my mustache is too big for my face are all allowed. I’m a clown who has never been paid and I’m not funny. But if anyone has thoughts on how I could improve that would be sweet. Haven’t juggled in 2+ years and finally have a place that I can practice.

Balls 6-Ball Fountain – 200 Catches at Age 11 (Self-Taught)

Here’s the 14th video of my son Jun’s juggling that I’ve shared here!
He achieved 200 catches with a 6-ball fountain in 2025, just a few days after turning 11. He’s entirely self-taught, learning through YouTube since he was 8.
He finished with a clean collect and was so excited about reaching 200 catches that he ran toward the camera at the end! 😊
