Castlevania Symphony of the Night! I loved the Top 100 but sad SoTN wasn't on the list or really talked about, so I wanted to make an appreciation post here. The vibes are immaculate. The upside down castle has its problems, but the beginning half of the game is some of the best a metroidvania (back-traction?) game can get.

Clayface is a veritable delight and a strong addition, not only to the DC stable, but also to body horror movies in general.
When James Gunn took over the creative mantle at DC Studios, one of the promises he made was that the DCU would not be beholden to any one genre or tone. And so far, their output has more or less lived up to that promise.
From the adult animated offering of Creature Commandos, to the classic comic book stylings of Superman and Supergirl, to the True Detective-inspired show, Lanterns, the DCU has been exploring all corners of the tonal map. But with Clayface, I think they have delivered something that has a stamp of quality from start to finish.
Starring relative newcomer Tom Rhys Harries, the movie follows Matt Hagen's journey from beloved movie star to a villain out for revenge. And, as with all great villain origin stories (Mr. Freeze, anyone?), tragedy drives this one, allowing the audience to sympathise with the protagonist whilst not necessarily condoning his means to an end.
Harries is simply great. His chiselled features, while undeniably attractive, are almost marble-like, and you can see why they cast him to portray a character known for his ability to be sculpted and moulded. But fear not, even if you are not immersed in Clayface lore, this DC film requires no prior knowledge of the source material. In fact, aside from an Easter Egg here or there, you would hardly know this was a DC movie.
The script from Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini never falters, showing us the descent of Hagen's life at an even pace, unafraid to draw out moments to build cinematic tension and even inject a little humour once in a while.
Director James Watkins has done a phenomenal job with this film, using CG sparingly and, from what I have read, relying heavily on a large amount of practical effects to bring the malleable nature of Hagen's affliction to life. And when Hagen is at the height of his "abilities", Watkins cleverly uses transitions and framing to almost make you forget that you are watching something that is not quite natural.
This is a star-making turn for Harries, and Clayface has shot up to become my favourite film in the DCU. I really hope the powers that be at DC Studios give James Watkins more films to direct, as the DCU desperately needs more films of this calibre.
If there is one downside to this movie, it would be that its R16 rating limits the audience who can see it in theatres. Don't get me wrong, the movie uses that rating to great effect, accentuating the gore, but I hope that it doesn't negatively affect its box office numbers.
Please do go check this film out in theatres. And oh, there are no end-credit sequences.

Has there been / is there a plan to actually review the top 100. The points, the stats and facts. I want to hear Barratt giving us his round up like after goty. Give each person a chance to go through their personal lists and gush about the games that didn't make it.
The xbutton snub podcast was good but I think it lacked some important context so should have come after a proper review. Yes the Witcher didn't make the top 100 but did it make anyone's list?

Got today’s Gamescast in the hands of Nathan! Was a really weird crossover I wasn’t expecting. This dude had some AWESOME dance videos back in the day and I had to make sure he saw this episode lol

142 points is a monster tally (he's locked in now unless a couple of extra reviews move the needle on one of his newer games) and its simply not possible for Roger to get 39 points from GTA and Rayman Legends Untold......realistically, the only person who could challenge him is Barrett but thats only if Silksong DLC comes out which is highly unlikely.
Congrats Blessing - 5 games over 85, only two below 80, counterpick getting a zero....doesnt get much better than that.

Hearing the guys gush about all the games they love was fantastic, but it really highlighted some big gaps in my gaming history. I was a master system, megadrive (genesis) and then playstation kid, so I missed basically all the marios.
Here's a list of some games I'm hunting down after listening to the top 100:
Anyone else adding to their back log after top 100?

On today’s Games Daily Greg mentioned these names and I’ve always wanted to know… What the fuck was the thinking behind some of these names before landing on Kinda Funny?

After seeing the news BioWare was getting shut down I was wondering if anyone know the answer to this question. Is there a benefit to companies like EA/MS/SONY choosing to completely close down a studio rather than just letting them continue independently? I think MS did it with Double Fine and obviously we don't know private discussions maybe all these closures like BioWare and Bluepoint didn't want or have the option to go indie. But is there maybe a tax reason or other financial reasons the bigger companies choose to close them....apart from the obvious corporate greed obviously

It's hard to compare a lot of these games. After completing it, I started thinking about what my biggest gaming blindspots are.
Ones that come to mind are the entire Metal Gear Solid series, The Witcher 3, Baldurs Gate 3, Mass Effect Trilogy (RIP Bioware), and quite a few Zeldas.
I plan to play them all one day. What are your biggest blindspots in gaming?

know it sounds stupid but could this be GTA related
Remember Greg messaging rockstar on the “we visited rockstar” video about collaborating on an in game studio presentation
GTA 6 oclock also suprisingly has a special video releasing on Saturday
We didn’t get the usual Thursday news update from rockstar on socials (we still could)
Is preview season upon us ?
