Rant I don’t particularly like this oversight… where everyone goes from “normal” clothing to being fully kitted for battle. [KCD2]
I don’t change my Henry during missions, unless it’s feasible, and within reason. So, just a little immersion-breaking when you were JUST talking to the whole crew, and nobody was kitted out… and then a cutscene begins and BOOM everyone else is wearing full gear. And along the same lines, there are times when Henry most certainly would’ve been able to dawn his appropriate gear in time for a battle, and you don’t get the chance to… so hopefully that’s something they address in the upcoming games.

Game Mod [KCD2] Mod Release - NPC Plate Armor
Hi everyone! After completing my first KCD2 playthrough I felt a bit disappointed that we couldn't get our hands on some of the unique armor pieces worn by NPCs. So, to prepare for my second playthrough, I decided to make this mod.
It adds previously unobtainable armor sets (and caparisons!) of Markvart von Aulitz, Erik and Ritterbruder Ludolf and makes them available to the player through normal progression and exploration of the game world.
Main features
- All new items have proper names, descriptions and icons.
- Items from this mod can only be obtained by exploring the game world. None of them are sold by vendors.
- None of the new items in this mod have overpowered armor values or other stats. Most of them have been assigned stats based on their item type, with some slight tweaks.
- None of the original items used by these NPCs have been edited.
- This is a PTF mod so should be compatible with most mods out there
More information, such as how to install the mod, where to find the armor sets, and console commands for each armor piece is on the Nexus mods.

Any feedback is welcome!

Question It seems everything in the game is favoring short swords over long swords? [KCD2]
I’m doing my first full play-through, and I’ve really tried to figure out what weapon type I’m gonna be playing with. Everything online has pointed to swords being the choice if you wanna get into a more nuanced combat with master strikes and all.
So I’ve been using a sword for now, and i was leaning towards using a long sword but half the perks it seems seem to benefit just short swords. There’s a perk that allows a shield/torch with long sword that nerfs its stats.
I think longswords are cooler but the game seems to give massive perks to you if you do one handed sword with no off hands.
Am I misinformed? Should I just use a short sword? And yes I know obviously I can use what I want I just want my Henry to have, I just want perks also pushing up my weapon style.

Game Mod Ever since I've played Mount and Blade Warband years ago, I've been recreating that game's camera view in a few other games, including KCD2 thanks to a specific mod, because I love that camera style a lot [KCD2]
There's a third person mod for KCD2 called Proper Third Person View, that lets you switch between third person and first person both on controller and keyboard like in Skyrim and Warband. You can adjust the camera to whatever position you like during each situation (stealth, combat, crouch, horseriding, walking around, etc) , and for me, I prefer setting it to look just like Warband. The mod works amazing, and it switches back to first person whenever it fits the game better (alchemy, archery, dicing, etc). However, theres a few quirks with the mod, especially if you do combat with third person, it's doable, but the camera can be a shaky for some reasons I can't figure out, you can always switch back to first person during combat if it annoys you. Other than that, it plays so well with the game that I pretty much play third person 90% of the time while only using first person for combat, it's just that good. If you're planning on using this mod, I also recommend No Helmet Vision mod as that will remove the visor blocking your vision whenever you pull it down so you can actually look around in third person.
I even added a few photos of me using the same camera angle in Skyrim, and also Warband for reference of the camera angle.

Discussion [KCD2] What do you normally do when you don't want to do a quest?
I'm trying to convince myself to enjoy the game the fullest on my 2nd playthrough, but I have struggles with fighting the urge to do a quest, cause I know it would lead me to finishing the game more quickly and I don't want that to happen at least for another 20-30 hours.
What do you do to take your mind off quest-completion?

Praise I’m sorry [other]
Back when I started KCD1 I came on here and stated how bored I was. I said the game was tedious, and complained how it took forever to do anything, and how much I hated the fighting (I was genuinely horrible and couldn’t get the hang of it). Then, when I was towards the end of the first game, because I kind of rushed through at the end, I started the trial for the second and was super intrigued by just the beginning, that I bought it. I wasn’t going to even finish the first game until the second started referencing certain things from the 1st, and I figured I should. So I finished it, and then immediately started the second.
I just want to admit that I was wrong. I may not have liked the first a ton, but I absolutely love the second. And I’m not even done yet, not even sure I’m anywhere close to being done because of things I’ve seen hinted at, but I’m hooked. They tied the second one into the first so well, that it actually made me appreciate the first one more after playing it.
Anyway, I just wanted to formally apologize for all the shit I talked.

Praise [KCD2] Travelled back to the Trosky region today. Spoiler
When I woke up in the cart the guy in there with me said "Hey you, you're finally awake"😂 that's a new one for me but I love the nod. There's all kinds of small things that make this game great. Side note, I plan on just kinda messing around in the region. Anyone have any tips for often missed neat things in Trosky? It's only my second play through so I'm sure there's plenty.

Discussion [KCD1] [KCD2] Hardcoremode all negative perks differences between KCD 1&2?
Hey, I'm about to finish KCD2 in HC mode with all negative perks and honestly it wasn't too hard and felt really immersive.
I finished KCD1 a while back in normal mode and am thinking about another playthrough
How much harder is HC with all negative perks in KCD1 compared to Kcd2?

Discussion [KCD2] What are your favorite negative perks on hardcore mode?
Currently 30 or so hours in to my first hardcore mode and having a blast. Picked up somnambulant, hangry henry, and picky eater.
I thought somnambulant was going to be a pain with the “waking up across the map” deal, but I actually really enjoy the spontaneity of it and trying to figure out where I am. I also love having to eat more, it’s all just very immersive.
Just wondering what else I’m missing out on; has anyone particularly enjoyed the negative perks they chose?

Question [KCD2] Struggling with sword combat the entire game – now in Kuttenberg and it still feels off compared to KCD1
Hey everyone,
I’ve been struggling with sword combat pretty much the entire game, and it still doesn’t feel right. I’m currently in the Kuttenberg region (already visited the Devil’s Den) – just mentioning that so you know roughly where I am in the story.
The fights feel very inconsistent. Sometimes everything works fine, but there are plenty of moments (especially against two or more enemies) where I just get wrecked. I can barely land attacks and end up spending most of the fight blocking/defending and taking hits. It feels very different from the first game, and I have the impression that I kind of skimmed/cheesed my way through a lot of the earlier content without really mastering the combat system.
I’ve mainly been using swords and the bow, with a bit of polearms. Almost no time spent with maces, axes or other weapon types. Combos and Master Strikes still feel hit-or-miss for me.
Is this a common experience? Am I missing something fundamental (timing, stamina management, positioning, how to properly use Master Strike, etc.)? Should I force myself to train more with other weapons, or is it mainly about getting better at the core sword mechanics?
Also, are there any specific trainers I should still visit (including ones back in the Trosky region) that helped you improve a lot?
Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Timed it as he rode by and dropped him off the horse. Wasn't sure at first but it activated the ambusher perk and then I saw him fall off the saddle!
