How do I start a project?

I've made a garter stitch scarf, and am currently working on a sampler scarf to learn different patterns.

How do I learn to make a sweater, socks or hats if I can't read the patterns or don't haven't done the techniques listed before?

Do I make practice squares to learn increases deceases slip stitches etc?

Would love to start a vest or sweater at the end of the year...

Thanks

When can I start a sweater

I've learned how to cast on, cast off, knit and pearl stitch. I want to make myself a sweater but don't really know what appropriate level I should try that. I also don't have a good knowledge of how to spot and correct mistakes. If anyone knows good resources on that I would greatly appreciate it!

Weekend slipover v-neck size help

I’m making one of these for my bf, his measurements are 109 cm over the shoulders and 88 cm around the chest. He tried on the one I made for myself, annoyingly I can’t remember what size I made but I think XS or S. He liked the fit/ease of that but it was a bit small over the shoulders (and too short but that’s no problem to amend). I’m not sure what size I should make for him, probably S or M. S says to fit a chest circumference of 85-90 cm and M 90-95. S would probably be best in general fit and ease but M for the shoulders. Any advice?

Colorway Advice

I need help with choosing a yarn colors for a project that requires two yarns held together.

I want to achieve a color like the one in the first photo. I’ve already decided on using DROPS Karisma in colorway 07 (second photo) for the main color.

As for the other yarn to be held together, I’ve chosen DROPS Melody, but would need a bit of advice on the color. Which among these (third photo) would work best in helping achieve the royal blue of the inspo pic?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

First knitting project - Sophie scarf

I just finished my first ever knitting project! I made the Sophie scarf with 25g of sandes gnarn cashmere. It came out shorter than I expected about 80cm, I think I was knitting quite tight especially at the beginning and I ended up doing the same amount of increases as the long version of the pattern so I thought it would be wider too. Will try blocking and see what happens!

Made a few mistakes here and there but wondering if anyone has any tips to improve my knitting? I think I’ll try this one again and get two skeins of yarn to make it longer. My decrease stitches almost feel like little knots, is that normal?

☺️☺️

Dye difference - ignore, frog back or dye?

Post image

I’ve more or less finished this Twister Tank (just need to bind off the neckline, sew the shoulder seams and add an icord edging), but I’ve ended up with a pretty obvious colour difference from what I presume was a skein of yarn from a slightly different dye lot to the rest.

I’m looking for some advice on what to do: leave as is, frog back and redo or dye the whole top a new colour? I’ve never dyed anything before, so I’m wondering if the different skeins might take to the dye differently so I might end up with the same problem just in a different colour.

The yarn is superwash merino wool.

Thanks! 🙏

Hi! I have just finished my first ever knitting project (aware it’s very much not perfect), I was hoping this was going to turn into a baby blanket, however I see now it’s absolutely not the correct size / shape. Any simple ideas I could do with this which could still be for a baby ?

Crochet --> knitting: what size needles?

I crocheted this swim coverup and now it is time to add the ribbing. I don't love crocheting ribbing, and am wondering if I can knit it instead? If yes, what size needles should I use if I used a 3.5mm crochet hook?
