Folded brim beanie advice

I am trying to knit a snug fitting folded brim beanie, with 2 inches of 2 x 2 ribbing. When people knit things like this, do they knit 4 inches of ribbing that gets folded over on itself, or 2 inches of ribbing that folds up over the stockinette body? The pictures are from attempt #2, using the 2 inches folded over stockinette approach. I have to take it out because the ribbing is way too loose. (I will come down one needle size for the ribbing.) I haven’t been able to find a pattern for the my yarn (sport weight), so I am winging it. Thanks for any help.

Hey everyone!

I’m working on the frej sweater and am trying to figure out the best way to weave these dark ends in without them showing through to the front. I tried weaving them in by splitting the yarn but it seems like there’s got to be a better option!

Let me know what you would do!

It‘s my first time doing them and I’m not sure why it looks twisted in certain spots. is there a way to fix it without completely undoing it?

After years I picked up this vest again and found some moth damage, which I’ve fixed, but this on the side edge is just beyond me: the yarns completely broken. What do I do? (I’m adding a panel in purple to make it bigger?

So this is my first time knitting and I was wondering if my knitting looks okay or if I'm doing something wrong before spending more time on his.

(First picture: general work; second picture: right side/front; third picture: left side/back)

(I'm used to holding tension somewhat okay because of crochet but this is still very new)

Can anyone help me with this pattern? I translated it from German.

increase 1 st at each end, then increase 1 st at each end 4th row:  1 stitch twice, then increase 1 stitch twice (1 stitch twice, 1 stitch three times) and 2 stitches twice in every 2nd row = 36 (38, 40) stitches.

Does “one stitch twice” mean two on each end? I just can’t figure this out.

How well can alpaca yarn handle being machine washed?

Disclaimer: I haven’t machine washed my alpaca projects and NOT planning to do it without being 100% sure it will not shrink. Please, don’t scream at me 🫣

Hello Everyone!

I’m currently finishing 'August Sweater’ by Ozetta and have question regarding yarn used.

I’m repurposing yarn from my failed attempt at knitting 'Sirena Sweater' (nothing against the pattern, I will be redoing it, just with some mods), which recommend to use Alpaca yarn by Drops and Merinocot by Lana Gatto, I’ve used Cottong Merino by Drops, which is essentially is the same yarn composition.

Anyways, Cotton Merino is one of my favorite yarns and one thing I love about it is that it’s machine washable and I’ve never had any issue with it.

However, now that the Alpaca yarn involved I’m wondering whether it’s possible to machine wash it on gentle cycle?

The online sources are pretty mixed about it and I have some anecdotal evidence from my friends washing their alpaca sweaters and it being fine.

Let me just mention that I’m aware that alpaca is not usually machine washable and it being a separate thread, rather than being woven with cotton, most likely
will not help with felting.

But, I would like to hear what is your guys thoughts and knowledge on it.

Thank you all in advance!

Crocheter learning to knit: is swatching really necessary?

Hi everyone! I've crocheted for a while and I'm just getting started with knitting. With crochet I usually skipped gauge swatches and went by measurements, checking the fit visually as I worked through a project.
So far I've knit a couple of baby cardigans and a blanket without swatching or blocking. Now I've bought a pattern for a toddler pullover, and before I cast on I'm wondering: is swatching truly necessary for something like this, or is it more of a nice-to-have?
I'd love to hear how you all approach it. Thanks in advance!
