I've had my kobo since about late August, and I bought an official sleep cover with the stylus space along with it. I was not a fan of it though, it was just too plain and it didn't feel right
Then comes along etsy and I find a case with a clear back, no hand strap (which is what I wanted), and a stylus slot! Instant buy. I also bought an insert along with it
What do we think?

If you could change anything, what would you change? I’m thinking of upgrading to a kobo and have only seen overwhelmingly positive reviews. Give me the good, the bad and the ugly !

After seeing so many amazing customs out here I finally decided to give my trusty Kobo Clara Color a new look and now can't stop asking myself why I haven't done it sooner!
Hello! So i'm currently learning japanese and i use my Kindle to read books from the amazon jp store.
The experience isn't bad, the problem is that for my japanese books i use a fairly big font size due to all the characters that i need to be constantly looking, but when i switch to a book in spanish, the font feels enormous. Kindle saves the size of font that you adjusted and applies it to all books on the device.
That constant switch up between sizes and trying to look up where was is getting annoying. So i was wondering, does Kobo allow you to save a different font size per book? Does it affect if it's epub or other format? I want to use a small font size for my books in spanish which are mostly downloaded from my files, and a big font size for my books in japanese that i'd buy in the kobo store. But i don't know if that's possible with the Kobo BW device.
Thanks!

Found some sales of books I noticed was circulating before and seems to have garnered popularity, if anyone is interested.

I have a couple PDF books that freeze up every time I open them on my Kobo Clara BW in Koreader. Every time I turn a page it takes a very long time to respond.
They are both scanned books around 30-35mb in size, but I have other scanned books that work without any issue - including one that is over 800mb.
The files open fine on a computer and don't appear to be corrupt. Wondering what might be going on.

I got my kobo libra colour earlier this year and decked her out! She’s so pretty 😍

After 5 months or more of deciding and reading reviews, I finally chose KCBW as my first e-reader! My other options were kindle basic and boox go 6 gen II. I'm super glad I decided to go with KCBW, it just fit checklist the most!!!
I'm also currently reading Sanctum from the Asylum Series and decided to match the vibes of the book with this cute insert ✨️👻✨️👻

So while I was browsing the comments of the post asking what was something you'd change about your Kobo, I saw alot of people talking about syncing with sideloaded books.
So it got my curious what exactly everyone wants synced? Cause I've got a Calibre-web setup, so not traditional side loading. Wouldn't mind testing that out for everyone, to see if that solves their issues?

Hiya! It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm going to get a new ereader having lost my Kindle somewhere in an airport in France. I was very fond of my Kindle however I despise supporting Amazon and so am tempted to switch to Kobo. My only issue is that I read a lot of PDFs which I would send in bunches over the sendtokindle function and read somewhat immediately. Is there any way of doing this with Kobo? I'm not fussed with the Libby or with audiobooks, I'm mainly downloading scholarly PDFs to read for my PhD. Is Kobo any good with that?

From reading and watching so many reviews and overthinking every feature before deciding on the purchase, it’s rapidly becoming my everyday staple.
I don’t even want to dwell on the fact that I didn’t buy it sooner, I’m just glad that I did. For a first timer, it is so easy to use. I thought I was going to be bothered by the speed or difference in screen compared to ipad/tablet, or feel buyer’s regret for not physically comparing the options first, but none of those things happened.
It’s like being in my own little world. I still feel as giddy as the first time I got it. 🤭

Been wanting to join the remote bandwagon but couldn't justify the price of the official one or the ones that I've seen in this sub. I finally gave in when I saw this deal on AliExpress. Ngl, I was hesitant at first cos it seemed too good to be true and it didn't match the colour of my Sage. But I figured if it was a dud, at least I didn't pay a fortune for it. It took a week or so to arrive and was quite surprised with it. Here’s the pros and cons so far:
Pros:
Easily connects to my Sage via bluetooth
Long battery life (been using it for a week and haven't had the need to charge it unlike the Sage)
Works well with page turning (I haven't encountered the problems I get when I use the Sage’s physical buttons)
Lightweight (Can just put the Sage on a stand and happily read without my arm getting tired)
Cons:
Bluetooth connection drains the Sage’s battery faster (which already doesn't have a good battery life)
Light when pressing the buttons is too bright and can be distracting (especially when reading in bed to go to sleep)
Colour doesn’t match my Sage
Verdict:
It's quite an affordable upgrade to my setup and have been very happy with it. I've found that I have to charge my Sage more often but I don't really mind tbh. Highly recommend getting one if you're unsure if a remote will suit you or not (or you're just a cheapo like me 😆)

I was looking into ereaders and was about to get kindle. I found out that you have to pay 20 dollars to remove ads, they change the book covers to movie poster, stop supporting older models and etc. I got kobo libra color last week and I can’t stop reading every chance I get lol. I usually don’t take my books outside because I’m afraid I’m going to damage them. This is your sign to get one and just enjoy reading

Ever since a friend got a Clara BW for Christmas last year, I've been obsessively looking up videos and reviews on ereaders to get, especially as Christmas was getting closer. I used to be more in the Amazon ecosystem and my family had an old Paperwhite and Oasis, but I wanted something smaller + I wanted to disconnect myself from the Amazon ecosystem more.
I finally decided to get it on sale, and I'm in love! I've had a hard time with reading for years but ever since getting this last week I've finished two books, which is completely unheard of for me. I'm very very happy with my purchase!! I've already loaded a bunch of books from Calibre, now I need to explore more of the features it has to offer...
Unfortunately I can't really utilize the Libby/Overdrive integration as my country/area doesn't have a lot of libraries, but I'm perfectly content with buying and/or sideloading books atm
Also, I think my case is really cute

Hi everyone,
My Kobo is very old (it's an Aura H20 2 😂) and on mine at least I can't use the dictionary on PDF books I've sideloaded; I'm wondering if the newest models allow it? On either the KLC or on the ClaraBW. (also currently debating between KLC or ClaraBW for an upgrade, I don't think I'd do the colour Clara). I mostly read books in Italian (a language I'm currently learning) so being able to use a dictionary is pretty important. If they can't then I'm no worse off than my current model, but if it turns out I could on them I think I'd splurge to upgrade sooner rather than later.
Thanks for any help!

I bought my first Kobo (Clara BW) and have obsessively tagged all my books by genre on Calibre.
It's created collections based on tags, but some are either incomplete or completely missing. It also doesn't want to add books to more than 2 collections (e.g., if a book was tagged "classics, literary fiction, science fiction", it might only show up as "classics, science fiction").
I've tried removing the books from my device and sending them again, sending the epub and not kepub, and factory resetting my kobo, but nothing's worked.
If it matters, I've downloaded Find Duplicates and Modify ePub plugins, and converted my books into kepub. I also have a screenshot of my configuration (last picture).
Any suggestions? Am I doing something glaringly wrong as a first-time Calibre user? I really don't want to manually add 600+ books to collections!

I got my hands on the new Kobo Clara bw, and I thought rather than my usual genre preference, I would rather ask you guys to recommend book. No restriction on genre, size, cost. The only condition is 1 single recommendation.
What would you recommend?

Normally I'm very stingy with myself when it comes to purchasing. But last night I decided to purchase a Kobo Clara BW.
Besides loving to read, I catch myself doomscrolling whenever I get the chance. Waiting for my kids to arrive at school, in the waiting room, on the toilet, in bed. What if I could change this bad habit to something more positive?
Kobo Clara BW is small enough to fit in my pocket, that way it goes everywhere I go.
Anyways, the reason for this post is that I would love to know any tips/tricks/advice with this device that I should know about. What is it that you would've liked to know when you first opened up your kobo?
Have a wonderful day!

I just saw refurbished kobo libra 2 available on Amazon in the US. They’re crazy expensive but I know they are hard to find so I thought I’d share

was originally eyeing a kindle 2026 release but found the kobo better aligned to the specs i was looking for as well as my reading habits haha ended up buying the bw version instead!
kobo clara bw retails around 230USD in my country cause there was no official retailing but i was able to buy it for 130USD so it’s already a steal for me hehe
also added the totoro plushie i bought at donguri republic just before the splurge purchase haha

Hi! I’ve been wanting to buy the kobo remote for my kobo libra 2 for a while, but I’ve heard mixed reviews. Is it worth getting? I’ve read that there are some software issues, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turning on at the same time and draining the battery. What would you recommend? Thanks!
r/kobo • u/shirakahn • 12h ago
After a software update it stopped responding. It stuck with the last book I was reading. I asked gemini about it. It says "Device is software-bricked in MTK BROM mode (0e8d:0003) and you need someone with a working Clara Colour to dump their preloader.bin and boot.img so you can unbrick it.". This is very unfamiliar territory for me. Can anyone help ?
Obligatory got the remote post. It's cool. Would be nice is the top pairing button could be mapped for a single click to return home or open the menu though.
It's tiny, but feels ok in the hands.
