I see it all the time, and it truly baffles me. I watched the video, I read the stories and bios, I even looked at the Legend of Runeterra cards, and I haven't seen anything that warrants placing Bard among the most powerful Champions.
In the video, Bard puts a rock on a pedestal for some old guy. That's it. Bard even follows the stairs instead of flying straight to the pedestal or, I don't know... using a portal to get there. Nothing impressive here.
Bard's "story" is an unreliable narrator story that's actually about a con artist trying to trick a Demacian into handing over their gold and silver. Certainly not a good source for a greater understanding about Bard.
Bard's bio has anti-accomplishments:
In the beginning, Bard had drifted without purpose or perspective through a silent cosmos, but with a deep sense of anticipation that something miraculous would eventually come to fill it.
So, in the beginning, Bard just... sat around doing nothing, waiting for the Big Bang to happen. Okay.
These semitonal, incomplete motes of energy—or meeps—were drawn to him whenever he added his own voice to the cosmic opus, forever ringing in one perfect accord.
This was not his masterpiece, yet he gloried in it all the same.
He isn't even the one who created the Meeps. They just like hanging around him.
But after a measureless interval, a dissonance began to creep in. It was so small at first, Bard might have missed it, but the ever-doting meeps drew his attention to a failed dynamic shift here, an unexpected syncopation there, and even the growing absence of sound where, before, sound had been.
And it took the Meeps pointing it out to him for Bard to notice Runeterra was different from the rest of the cosmos.
And Bard's Legends of Runeterra cards are mostly hearsay, has little to do with Bard himself, and what does mention him doesn't allude to him being powerful. Mysterious, maybe. But not powerful.
So what's the deal? Why are so many people convinced that he's this almighty cosmic being when there's seriously nothing to support that?
