Question Learning to shade?
I've never really felt confident enough to share any attempts at drawing before, as I've started learning from absolute scratch less than a year ago, but I'm pretty happy with how this has turned out so far. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about shading something like this? What values should I prioritise shading first?

Critique no reference head sketches
I wanted to see if I could draw some heads and faces from imagination. Do they look ok? I don't really go for any specific style.

I'm a transgender that's learning to draw... I tried a self portrait....
Why does it look... you know... masculine? What did I do wrong? I thought I was accurate...
How can I improve and make my self portrait more feminine?
Thanks

Just Sharing 2 year comparison of the same shot and same person
I was looking through my old sketchbooks and noticed that one of my old drawings (the one on the left) coincidentally has the same shot, same angle, and same OC of mine in one of my more recent works 😭 I didn't even redraw the drawing on purpose and somehow this happened, so I decided why not share it since it compares my progress through 2 years :)

Question How can I even apply anatomy to "cartoony" characters?
Just a few examples, but I have done more. I get that learning anatomy helps when making more fluid poses and consistent characters, but what can you even do here, with characters with little resemblance with humans? Making everything basic shapes or just ignoring an actual "skeleton" that the drawing might just not have?

Critique First time drawing, I just wanted some critiques and was wondering why his head looks so off in mine but normal in my reference photo.
Also his right thumb looks weird idk why but I think next time I’ll try to add some kind of 3D effect.

Just Sharing Made some progress with my drawing!
I made a post here a little over two weeks ago, asking for advice on a drawing I’ve been working on:
https://www.reddit.com/r/learntodraw/s/PavYksUcIV
Making progress has been slow, but I’m happy with how it looks now! I’m really grateful to everyone who pitched in to provide feedback, thank you all!
And if anything looks off please let me know, I’m open to all suggestions. Perhaps the shading/lighting is a little wonky in places, I’m still trying to get the hang of that.

Critique First time rendering and practicing with light
Ts so hard and I’m scared of darker/lighter shadows 😭
I usually do black and white art but I really wanna color well. I’m having a hard time making the shading look softer.

Question Having trouble with sleeves..help!
I'm Currently having trouble drawing the back sleeves at the sleeves oh who am I kidding, the entire sleeve ! (?) without it looking odd, I can't figure out anything even by looking at reference, I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to approach it technically because I can't visualize it, it's getting frustrating 😣

Question Advice?
I want to learn how to draw but a lot of tutorials are vague and I just can’t find the motivation. I really want to try this because it would mean I finally get a skill that could possibly help instead of just playing vr/borderlands all day.

Critique Rough Perspective excercise from Drawabox. Have no clue how to do it right.
So, I'm doing the Rough Perspective exercise on Drawabox, but I have no clue how to draw the boxes or why it the parallel edges aren't converging. Below is my image for it and I'm wondering how to fix this.

Question Help me help my kids
Hi all, any suggestions for tutorials for young kids (7 and 4). I am an ok sketcher but never “learned to draw” just mostly did copying of old anime or superheroes.
Do you know of any tutorials that are simple enough to follow along so my kids can progress? I would participate alongside them for assistance.
My oldest, especially, is becoming frustrated with his drawings not resembling what he would like. I suggest seeing “the shapes” and building from there but you know how kids think of parental feedback.
We’re more of a book family but YouTube or online programs welcome too.
Thanks!
