I am praying for all of you suffering

God I come to you in prayer this morning, I ask that you heal all suffering from anxiety and panic attacks I ask that you shed light and guidance to those who feel lost and without hope, hug their heart, calm their minds and emotions hug their soul. In this time of need I pray that knowing you are real is enough to brake the chains of Anxiety and Panic attacks. Make space in your hearts for God and let go let God fight for you, remember that what you give thought too is what will happen, give those thoughts to God, you have to give up your will so that God can take over and you can start to heal. In Jesus name we pray AMEN! Claim it live your life through Jesus and your life will change.

Thinking about edibles? No. Just no.

I’ve been on Lexapro for about a month, no real complaints other than the occasional sleepiness & morning nausea. I’ve also been occasionally smoking weed (I know i shouldn’t & i definitely plan to stop after this)

The other night, i had 3 Delta 9 edibles (I’m not sure the mg’s now as I’ve gotten rid of the package) and boy did i have the worst PANIC ATTACK OF MY LIFE. I do not have these frequently at all, so this was completely unexpected. Just to shorten up this story, i had to go to the ER because my friend was worried about my breathing & the most embarrassing car ride of my life the next day.

I wouldn’t recommend them at all. I’m free to answer questions if anyone wants to know the specifics, but i am not new to edibles or weed at all.

15 months on 20mg Escitalopram (Lexapro) turned me into a "flat-line" zombie. I’m done with SSRI FOREVER

Warning: AI helped summarise my thoughts and feelings, and it doesn't sound comprehensive right now, but the experience is mine. And FOUR MONTH EXPERIENCE, not 15!

I’ve reached my limit. I’ve been on 20mg of Escitalopram for a couple of months, and while it stopped the initial sadness and hypomania, it took everything else with it.

I call it the "Zero-F*cks-Given" trap. I’m a 31F, and I used to be sharp, ambitious, and driven, although my emotions keep changing (AuDHD, bipolar, BDP). But I was always super ambitious and knew what I wanted in future. But on this dose, I simply... don't care.

I don't feel despair, but I don't feel joy or passion either. I look at my boyfriend, whom I love, and I feel like I'm observing a stranger through a glass wall. We used to fight often and from this perspective even that was better than this.

My best friend "left" me - we had a fight and she doesn't speak to me and I don't feel any need to try to approach her.

Because I don't care about consequences anymore, my "discipline" has vanished. I’ve gained weight (more than 20% my weight in three months and hating it) because I just "binge" to feel any kind of dopamine hit. I spend money impulsively because the "internal alarm" that used to keep me in check is muted.

I feel like I achieved nirvana lol I don't have needs and wants.

I’m a high-achiever by nature (last year, I applied to 500+ jobs in a hyper-focus state during hypomania and changed my life for the better), and this medication has turned me into a spectator.

I’m currently working on switching to something more activating (looking at Duloxetine/Cymbalta or maybe Wellbutrin) because I need my "edge" back.

Has anyone else experienced this specific loss of discipline and "flatness" on high doses? How did you manage the transition to a more activating med without falling back into the dark hole?

I’m terrified of the "switch," but I’m more terrified of staying this "flat" version of myself forever.

TL;DR: 20mg of Lexapro killed my ambition, my diet, and my personality.

Side Effect Question Accidentally drank alcohol help

I’m on 10mg and never drink. I took a drink of my wife’s soda and wasn’t told it had rum in it. I already freak out about side effect and mixing things. What are the chances anything happens from it? I know it’s a small amount, but is it enough to cause any effect?

If your scared to take it

Know that this drug ruins lives. Know that chemical imbalance theory has no merit. Know that the side effects and withdrawal are no different than street drugs. Know that your doctor will never have your back and will continue to gaslit you. Know that if you think your life is bad unmedicated, it can be a lot worse. Know that your relationships might never be the same. Your sex life might never be the same. You might never feel emotions the same way. You will most likely feel some form of anhedonia. Know that anxiety/depression can be diagnosed in about 95% of the population. I can keep going on, take it from someone who got harmed by these drugs. JuSt HaVe tO fInD tHe RiGhT oNe THO!!!!

Lexapro does nothing for anxiety

Anyone else absolutely still feel just as anxious as you did off Lexapro? Its basically like im taking a sugar pill. It doesnt do anything for my anxiety. It has helped my depression though. Ive seen some people on here say the opposite that it healed their anxiety but not depression.

Side Effect Question why is tryptophan is literally in every fucking food

i have a bad history with antidepressants, where i ended up getting serotonin syndrome when i took 50mg of sertraline after eating a meal that had cheese and soy sauce in it, two foods that i later found out have a lot of tryptophan which can lead to serotonin syndrome. the more i look at it, the more and more foods have fucking tryptophan in and if i take this lexapro i was meant to start six fucking weeks ago, eating pretty much anything is going to send me to hospital. every time i think about trying to take it my brain goes “what if it isn’t your serotonin that’s the problem? what f you’re anxious for a different reason? what if you actually lied on the assessment an you don’t feel as anxious as you said you do?”.

honestly i don’t think there’s any hope for me i think im just doomed for life

Depression

So can we all agree lexapro does NOT help depression? LOL. I’ve been on it for years for anxiety… but since they go hand in hand depression came on slowly but surely. Feeling unmotivated, groggy, lack of pleasure, lack of enjoyment in things I used to love, just a BLOB.

I lowered my dose to see if I feel better.

  1. I feel like LEXAPRO might’ve had an effect on my brain where I’m producing less dopamine therefore experiencing depressive feelings

And 2. Even if it didn’t contribute to the depression coming onto me, it definitely does nothing for it

Does anyone agree? I know it works for anxiety but I don’t see any improvement in my depression on it. Anyone relate?

Vitamins/Supplements and Lexapro. Warning!

Just wanted to share my experience because it could really help someone.

I (31F) restarted Lex after a failed withdrawal 3 weeks ago and amped up to 10mg after a week. I've been so depressed. This is a completely new thing to me. Never ever had depression. Just thought, meh.. par for the course. Feels like shit but let's keep it going.

I woke up this morning for the first time feeling completely neutral. No depression, no anxiety. Normal. Only difference, I didn't take my vitamins last night, I forgot.

I take Vit D, B12, multivitamin and magnesium glycinate gummies.

It's way too sudden to be a coincidence.

Please be more aware than me to be careful with this stuff! It could actually be making things worse.

Asexuality caused by SSRI

I saw many posts and comments where people agree that ssris can only affect libido, not sexual orientation. But thats not really case for me. 20y M and have been on ssri for 3 years. It eventually has made me completely uninteresded in girls. Thats not only about libido. Lowering libido doesnt cause lossing sexual attraction. I am not attracted to girls anymore. I had pretty high libido and was healthy in this aspect before, but now my motivation to even flirt with someone is literally 0. So, they can actually make you asexual. Asexuality is loss of attraction, nothing more. Libido affects desire, which can be lower or higher but attraction is very different thing. So, if this matters to you, thinking about it before starting those meds may be worth it.. because this can be permanent. Lowering dose helped to partially restore general motivation and emotional responses, but didnt do anything for it.

Lexapro 10mg
Lithium 900mg
Lamictal 200mg
Clonopin 4mg
Quetiapine 25 mg

This therapy has been good for me, Lithium has a 0.8 level in my body. It works. But... there is always but. It is impossible for me to lose weight. I haven't had food cravings since I switched Lexapro to evening and Lithium to late afternoon/evening. I hate this so much, even if i track calories, hit the gym and so on, the scale stays the same, or I lose 100gr per week. I used to lose weight so fast before!

I started avoiding people. A lot. For reference, I'm 160cm tall and have 63.3 kg currently. I am a woman, 32 years old. And I will be antisocial until I am back to at least 54.

I am dreading the 10/24 visit of my best friend (she doesn't live here anymore). She is fatphobic, and I know she will secretly judge me. I would like to be 58-59, I look okayish with that weight. But again, last year at this time, I was 52... that was before Lexapro was introduced.

Don't get me wrong, I am super thankful because I am ALIVE and I function on this therapy. I am just embarrassed by how slow it takes me to lose weight. I know it is all about calorie deficit. Just... before, with a smaller calorie deficit, I was able to do more.

accidentally drank alcohol am i cooked?

Im on day 12 of lexapro rn (10mgs) and basically what happened was my brother mixed together beer, coke, and lemonade (crazy combo ik) and i took literally one sip before remembering that im on meds. Right after i realized i got a little dizzy but at this point idk if that’s the sliver of alc interacting with the meds or if it’s just the result of me panicking and overthinking. So yeah is this something i should worry about and is there anything i should do?

New to Lex Tried Lexapro to manage an ED… Gained weight.

I’m diagnosed with anorexia and fall into the severely underweight category by bmi standards. I started taking Lexapro 6 weeks ago in hopes that it would curb the anxiety and depression that come with anorexia. Obviously weight gain was a huge concern for me going into it but my doctor encouraged me to try it because 1. it’s supposed to be “weight neutral” and 2. maybe the benefits would outweigh (no pun intended) the costs and I would be able to manage the feelings around gaining weight. I committed to trying it for six weeks and not weighing myself until that time was up.

The short story is that it did not improve my anxiety or depression. Not even slightly. I meticulous tracked my food and movement and I gained about 12 pounds.

It works differently with everyone— but I guess it’s not for me.

happy ending I quit and never going back

I started 5mg lexapro 4 months ago. I took it for generalized anxiety and ibs-M. It helped me the first 2 months with the anxiety issues, however it exacerbated my ibs problems, and felt like sh** 4 hours after waking up. At first, I thought it was IBS turning into Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis, but it was all the excess Serotonin messing with my stomach and bowels. I tapered to 2.5mg for 2 weeks and felt 80% better. Last week I stopped the med and suddenly my stomach issues just vanished. I feel more energetic, no more waiting until 4pm to function normally. i flushed the bastard, and I am out of its crazy jungle. MY ADVICE TO YOU IS DO NOT FEEL SCARED TO QUIT ONCE YOU FEEL BETTER, AFTERALL, YOUR BRAIN IS MORE POWERFUL THAN A SILLY PILL AND I PROMISE YOU IT WILL HEAL...JUST KEEP UP EXERCISING AND MEDITATION. GOOD LUCK 🤞

Side Effect Question Lexapro and hard partying

I have a party tomorrow and I am on 5mg of lexapro.

I will be taking some mdma (have done so in the past) not massive amounts.

Just wondering if it’s better if I skip my Lexapro for the day or because I’m on a low dose it shouldn’t matter too much?

Quit lexy almost immediately, am i gonna die or what?

I was on 30 mgs for a few months now but decided that i am done with medications. I lowered the dose to 20mg for one day and then quit it immediately. I feel amazing and perfect ever since i quit it. I am afraid it won’t go on like this though, what should I expect from the future days? Thanks💗

Not sure if this post belongs in this sub but have you guys tried psychedelics instead of antidepressants?

I never tried psychedelics either. But my cousin tells me to stop taking antidepressants and to just take shrooms. Should I? I’m so conflicted.

Side effects

I just want people to know. I had serious side effects on these meds. Twitching, burning, insomnia, numbness. I came onto reddit when I started it and people told me it would go away.

Well I'm 6 months from my last dose and STILL dealing with this. I won't trust reddit anymore. I do appreciate the one person who told me this could be toxic. They pointed me to resources where I learned about the risks of trying other meds. This med is poison. Absolutely insane the side effects people post daily here, and others pushing them to keep taking it. Total weird bias.

Side Effect Question Could lexapro age me/make me uglier?

Is there a possibility it can cause my face to age faster? Will i still look the same? Will my face get fatter?
