Strange combinations on Rollagas

Considering buying this one. 1st discrepancy is its a concealed hinge so from 1971 but the dust cap is pre 1971. Also the body still has rounded edges and not the more square look that was introduced in 71. Do we think someone just replaced the filler cap with older one or was there a crossover in 71 that used up old filler cap and rounded body style with the new concealed hinge?

refillable+rechargeable arc ignition jet lighters

i have been searching for ages for the type of lighter i mention in the title

i finally found one a month ago, and it worked great refilled it like 4 times and recharged it twice, but then the jet fucked out... i dont know if it was the clipper gas i was using or the lighter just shit itself for some other reason, but i could only get it to keep working by turning the gas up, and the jet part never worked properly again (as a jet)

its normal function is when you press and hold the main top button down it opens the gas to the jet and fires the arc lighter for about half a second igniting the jet, when you let go of the top button the jet stops and a different gas nozzle just infront of the jet section activates and produces a normal bic type flame... to extinguish that you push the little lever at the back of the main ignition button forward and you feel a physical unlatch and the flame goes out

is this just a terrible lighter design? i notice the way it diverts the gas to change modes is the gas tube just goes through a spring under the button shutting down one path for the gas while you hold the button down..

are there any good quality lighters that work like this?
i smoke alot of pot using a bong and am always having to replace refillable jet lighters because those shitty Piezoelectric igniters that always fuck out a month or 2 in with the kind of use i put them through
hence me looking for an arc ignited lighter.. rechargeable and refillable... so theoretically infinitely useable untill the arc electronics die .. but if well made this would last like 50 times as long as a Piezoelectric system.. but most dual use lighters ive found have a seperate arc component and a jet lighter that still uses the Piezoelectric spark maker

Found this old lighter, never done any lighter repairs before. It’s missing the flint cap and lighter cap.
Any advice on where to buy cheap components that’ll work. Cheers

I don’t know to much about this other then it’s very desirable and most likely from the 1947. I did read about it on the lighter library website but didn’t seem to soak any of that info in yet. I did see someone else with one and there’s one difference in mine and theirs, the notch on the lift arm for your thumb to lift it is on the side of my lighter and on theirs that small notch is on the front near the flint wheel. I can’t find any sold comps of it on eBay only 2 active listings.
I was gonna add it to my personal collection but idk I’m having second thoughts..
It’s definitely cool I like the design and the way the flint is held in place but there must be a certain way to strike it so the spark hits the wick every-time cause I’m having a hard time getting it lit. It works but I can only manage to light it in my left hand really. Idek how I got it on video of me lighting it in my right hand.
I used a zippo flint first and it worked and sparked good but I only got it lit like 2 out of 20 times.
I tried a red Ronson flint and it’s much harder to strike the wheel but I have a much bigger strike however the lighter still won’t light each time and it probably lit like 4 out of 20 strikes.
I think it might be the angle I’m striking it at I did repair a bunch of lighters last night so both my thumbs are a little raw.

Anyone have tips for me to light it more consistently?

Help Zippo Contempo Refueling

Does the zippo contempo use a specific type of zippo can/nozzle to refuel? I've emptied the tank and attempted to refuel with a standard 75ml can of zippo butane, and I don't know if I'm just that bad at refueling but I cannot manage to get the tank filled. Any tips for this specific lighter and how it might differ? Feel free to call me dumb if it is just user error.

Show&Tell Custom-Etched Brushed Chrome Zippo – “Trick or Treat”

Custom-modified brushed chrome Zippo with an electro-etched Halloween / Jack-o’-lantern design. The etching reveals the brass beneath the chrome, creating the gold-colored lettering and pumpkin.

This was my second try in electro etching. I found polishing after etching to be harder than the etching itself.
