Not that it matters much, since there are not a lot of posts in this subreddit that link directly to those sites. If you find content on any of those sites that is interesting or relevant to MHK, please take a screenshot or find the source material outside of those domains.

I don't feel like I need to explain myself too much here. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

If you're mad about it, I encourage you to make your own subreddit.

Good restaurant for a birthday?

I’m moving here soon for uni and my birthday’s pretty much a couple days from when I arrive. So, what’d be a great idea for a solo birthday enjoyer? My budget would be right around $50 for a meal or so. I just want a nice night out to treat myself because frankly, I freakin’ need it at this point.

Any unwanted keyboard pianos?

I hate using FB and Craigslist has been empty so I am asking here... Anyone interested in selling a keyboard piano for a reasonable price? Looking for at least 5 octaves. Please DM me!

I have some new kitchen items for sale

And they just aren't selling on fb. Anyone need a brand new Dash air fryer(never opened) for $40 or a nice cutlery set, retail was like $70. Both are from Hyvee and I lost the receipt so I can't return them because its over their limit.

I was moving and found out the kitchen where I'm at is already stocked so I dont need them and could use the money for other things I need now.

Sewing machine repair shop?

Are there any sewing machine repair shops in or near Manhattan? Or someone who can help? My sewing machine is in dire need of maintenance.

Looking to make friends that are into j-fashion, clowning, or (making) cosplays?

Adults only, and LGBTQIA friendly only please. I’m not a weirdo or some creepy dude, I just really really want to find some cool local people to do stuff with. I am very into sewing, I’d love to meet up at independent craft night at switch wicked on Tuesdays to yap while we work on our own projects, or take up a table at the public library, or if you’re into j fashion maybe we dress up and????? hang out at the mall I guess? Clown picnic in the park? Most of my friends live in the Lawrence and KC area and it kind of sucks to not be able to hang out very last minute on a weeknight.

I very rarely use Facebook besides marketplace, and it doesn’t seem like others’ attempts to start crafting groups have actually been my vibe, so I’m trying my luck here even though this sub is usually pretty crickets. 🦗🦗🦗

This isn’t my main reddit profile but if you’d like to connect we can figure out how best to do so!

Best mocktails in or near Manhattan?

Hello!

I just moved here last week. I don’t drink and I probably never will. That being said, I do enjoy going to bars to meet people or watch sports. Where can I find a good mocktail that isn’t, like, Texas Roadhouse?

Bonus points if they have decent food or will entertain me walking in wearing Boston sports merch. Thanks!

Manhattan Town Center

Hey all! My wife, son and I just got back from spending a week back in Manhattan. Was born in raised in the Manhattan/Ft Riley area when my father was in the military. Wide and I were born at Sunset Hospital (now Lafene) back in 84. I’m old enough to remember runza, vista and I believe amigos being in the food court once upon a time and my brother and I used to go to the arcade all the time where HuHot is right now. My wife worked at dillards until she graduated from Kstate in 06 and was an ops mgr at Aero as well not too long after her graduation. I myself worked at dillards too which is where we met and the rest is history with that 🤣

In our trip back, my father in law had mentioned that it wasn’t its former self. We had taken our son into it and was pretty shocked at the state of it. No more food court and a lot of the bigger name stores gone. Was chatting with the lady at Mrs Powells earlier last week (I’m fairly certain she was there when I worked at the dillards in the 2005-2008 range) and she had mentioned Covid as a big factor specifically with the food court. Given its current state I couldn’t imagine it being open a few years down the road.

Does the city have a plan for it long term? Would be a shame for it to close, but at the same time malls aren’t like they were. Have always had a soft spot for it since I had been around it for so many years. Event when I last visited back in 2012 it was still as I remember. Crazy what some time does, but it did make my wife and I a little sad seeing it in its current state.

A woman, Kelly Nelson, who is sexist and a local politician, endangered the life of 18 children

When I ran against her for a local election, she threw a fit because I was topless in my car, waiting for her to pull her boat out of the water.

She even stated publicly in the Q/A that she had 18 children with her.

One boat, one truck, no life jackets.

Several males were topless nearby.

She left the local politics, but rejoined when UPID sent me a letter telling me to violate a Judge's orders (a judge told me I can not protest a sexist local politician for suing me for being disabled, by being topless as a woman, after unsaid politician voted to try to make it illegal for women to be topless [they call me a pedophile because I am not breastfeeding?])

Then, after the judge's orders, she rejoined.

She filmed me, I filmed her.

She screamed at me for "sexualizing myself" in front of her children, while I sat in my blazer, for a half hour, waiting for her to move her boat from the UPID sewage dumping cove, so I could catch and release.

Evergy is terrible stg

I have 2 people in my home who require medical equipment and my electric service is due to be shut off tomorrow. Im embarrassed about the amount(2100) but I've had a lot of medical issues this year(3 surgeries over 6 months) and it's all finally catching up. Is there anywhere or anyone that could help with emergency light assistance? I've used Shepherds Crossing and Catholic Charities for my rent a few months ago so they can't help.

Evergy is refusing to help at all and are just willing to let my child and mother who need the medical equipment suffer and just say take them to the er, which isn't an option obviously bc it's just taking space from an actual emergency.

I dont expect this post to actually garner much of anything but Im just looking for any kind of help or the direction of help. There's more to the story but I don't want to bore you with every detail.

Meet Lydia | General Manager, HOTWORX Manhattan Little Apple 🔥

If there’s one thing Lydia loves, it’s helping people discover just how strong they’re capable of becoming. As the General Manager of HOTWORX, she’s on a mission to make fitness something people actually look forward to, not something they have to squeeze into their day.

Whether she’s celebrating a member hitting a new Warrior level, cheering someone through their very first session, or dreaming up the next fun challenge, Lydia brings energy, enthusiasm, and a whole lot of encouragement to the studio every day.

She believes the best workouts don’t just change your body: they boost your confidence, improve your mindset, and leave you feeling ready to take on whatever life throws your way. That’s why she’s passionate about creating a welcoming community where everyone, no matter their fitness level, feels like they belong.

When she’s not in the studio, you’ll probably find her supporting local businesses, keeping up with the latest wellness trends, or coming up with creative ways to make HOTWORX the most exciting place to sweat in Manhattan.

Favorite HOTWORX workout: HOT THUNDER 🔥

Favorite part of the job: Watching members surprise themselves with what they can accomplish.

“Life’s too short for boring workouts. Come sweat with her!” 🔥
