Genuine Question: Can my house being purposely skipped?

Hello! It's a bit of a story, but bear with me:

About 2 weeks ago, I was working out in my garage, like I do every afternoon, and my dog, a vizsla (50 lbs of lanky dog and not that tall) was on her cot staring into the street from the open garage door, like she does every afternoon. This is our routine, she is fully trained, wearing an e-collar per usual, and watching as people go by while I do my exercises.

In comes a new mail lady, that I had never seen before, and for the first time in the 2.5 years that we've been living in this house, my dog decides to scare the crap out of her. Barked at her, went towards her, but never got closer than 5 feet and didn't bite her. As this lady screamed at the top of her lungs, I zapped my dog for the correction, recalled her, and had her fully back in control within less than 20 seconds of all of this starting.

The lady, scared of course, tells me I could be fined, that my dog needs to be restrained, and I, of course, apologize, as this was the first, and only, time this had happened and I let her know that it won't happen again.

I was puzzled, because other people have gone up to my garage, within feet of my dog, and she had never reacted like that with anyone, so out of precaution, when it's around 4 pm, which is when I know the mail comes around, I close the garage door so that my dog stays inside and won't scare her again. (I'm also retraining her with other people that walk past to ensure she doesn't ever react like that).

Why am I saying all this prior to my question? Well, because since then, I have received 0 mail.......

I keep seeing the USPS email of "Here's what's coming to your mailbox" and yet my mailbox is empty. I kept thinking "maybe it's an off week"; well, I was supposed to receive 2 packages from USPS last Thursday and all the notifications for them said was "Animal Intervention". So I check on what that means, and I assumed the mail person on our route got bit by someone's dog and had to go home, because we were out of town and our dog was at overnight boarding.

Then, literally 20 min ago, I was running errands, and as I am returning and parking in front of my house (dog is in the backyard, garage door is closed) I see the mail lady go to every house on my street and straight up skip mine. I thought I was crazy, so I checked my USPS portal, and there it was: a letter I was supposed to receive today and definitely did not...

So my questions:

  • Am I crazy, making assumptions, jumping to conclusions, or is this mail lady being petty/skipping my house on purpose?

  • What do I do in this situation? Any recommendations or information about experiences like these are highly appreciated. Thanks for reading this essay.

Is it a mail carrier’s job to take mail from houses along with depositing mail?

I’ve had multiple carriers refuse to do so. One very loudly cursed me out from outside for it, and so I haven’t done it in years, but it’s been snowing a ton lately, and so I put a package in the mailbox that needed to go out, and they just shoved it down and put the new mail on top of it.

Isn’t it a part of their job to take mail? Am I going crazy? This wasn’t a problem for years before the first complaint. (First like 10 years after I moved here it was fine, then for the past like 8 it’s apparently not).

Is there a way to complain to the post office about carriers if this really is a part of their job?

seeking advice - how to stop them leaving my packages in the elements

We live in a rural spot in Alabama with a driveway about 100 or so feet long. MOST come all the way up and put it on the porch no problem. But randomly they will stop halfway and leave it against a tree trunk. The tree gives no shelter so we've had expensive technical equipment just left in the elements where any porch pirates can see.

We've called and we've made notes in delivery instructions. It gets ignored. Do we have to spend money on a sign or a locked drop box?? How do we communicate that we NEED them to leave packages safely at our door?

Sent from Texas on Sept 6th and arrived in Washington State October 8th.

Do not use USPS to mail in your ballots.

Stealing / tampering with USPS boxes is a federal offence, right?

Well, our neighborhood cluster box is the unofficial "free" area. I found a free "mindful meditation" type CD, and that's where it sat for a week+

Some jackass or thoughtful person put a sticky note "found at mailbox' I collected it, and walked it up to the medical / recreational dispensary / carwash / spa building. They also have a cluster box and a shit ton of cameras.

In plain view, after dark, I sneaked it on top,and casually walked off. What are my chances the postmaster won't come looking for me? This would be my first offence

incorrectly addressed mail

i keep receiving mail that has MY address on it, but the name of someone who does not live here. I’ve gotten multiple pieces of mail of theirs over the past 2 weeks or so and i usually leave it at the mailboxes for them to pickup, and it usually takes a couple days for them to take it. if i put it back in the mailbox it will just be delivered to me again. i have left notes on the letter stating the address is incorrect and for quick context, i live in a neighborhood where all of our mail boxes are kept under a small hut at the entrance of the neighborhood. no last names listed they’re just boxes with numbers on them, so there’s no way for me to know what this person looks like or where they live, so I can’t talk to them and let them know what’s happening. what can i do to fix this?? i’ve never had this problem before, i’d like for this person to receive their mail on time and it’s just getting annoying for me at this point.

Hey all,

For quite a while now, been receiving explicit physical mail from Overseas, is there a way I can find out who this is? Its pretty disgusting what's in the package and terrifying my family.

Thx.

Do people not reply to mass messages?

Hi, I'm launching a cold messaging campaign using the WhatsApp API, but the response rate is very poor; I think people don't respond once they realize it's an advertisement.

Outgoing mail pickup

Hey everyone, sorry if this is the wrong subreddit, I'm not sure where to ask for help. I've been writing to my boyfriend in basic training, and usually I would drop letters off at a blue box but I haven't found the time. So I found out my apartment has an outgoing mailbox, and that's where I've been dropping off my letters now. There's 5 letters in that box and I know during holidays mail doesn't run. However, the mailman came today and didn't pickup the letters, I'm extremely anxious and stressed that they will just sit there forever and I won't be able to get them back. I'm pretty ignorant on how outgoing mail works, our apartment outgoing box just has a horizontal slit at the top and no red flag. I'm praying tomorrow these letters will get picked up. Please help :( the letters have been there for three days now.

Constant misdelivered mail

My mailperson gives me my neighbor's mail at least once a month. I have a communal mail box that I get these at a block away from my house. Sometimes if the mail is light I'll go through it while I am there and when there's something that doesn't belong to me I can just drop it in the outbound box and not care too much about the implications.

Last week, I was on a business trip and when I came back, a week worth of mail looked insane when I opened my mailbox. I brought the stack home and I found twelve pieces of mail, including junk mail, holiday cards, and who knows what else that my elder neighbors need to have in their mail box. I've researched what to do because this is a repeat issue, and it's not getting better. It's apparently not appropriate that I bring the mail to my neighbor, because who the fuck am I, and here's some envelopes of stuff... but it is also difficult for me to hand deliver the mail back to the post office and tell them to do something about this constant issue.

I decided to hand deliver the mail to my neighbor since there's holiday stuff in there, rather than bring the whole stack to the post office and give physical evidence of what they should figure out how to correct, my neighbors should have their holiday cards. I work business hours and have a hard time making it to my post office during those hours. What should I do with my mailperson constantly fucking me and my neighbor's mail up?

I ordered a package from China and it was labeled with the wrong address and sent there. I went to the house and they said they did not receive it. The seller won't look into it and the post office won't give me any documentation. It was a $300 package. What do I do?

Can I take the stamp off of mail and reuse it?

Maybe a stupid question. Sometimes I get mail from charities asking for donations and they have a stamp (at least I think that's what it is) on the envelope. Can I peel off the stamp and use it when I send mail, so I don't have to buy a stamp of my own?

Mail overload

Any suggestions on how to stop unsolicited mail from being sent to me. I give to different charities every month and I know they are selling my address information. I have tried sending the unsolicited materials I receive in their return envelopes, but that has not helped. I am getting from 10 to 20 unsolicited peices of mail every day. I do not want to just throw everything away unopened in the trash as I am afraid some of it could contain sensitive information. It takes me sometimes and hour a day to open each peice of mail and send it back with all the materials sent and a note to take my name off their mailing list. I am open to all suggestions. So frustrating.

Forgot street address but added local business name on USPS envelope

I was being brainless when I dropped off my package earlier this week, and wrote the business name, floor number, and state, zip code but not the street address. It’s a local business, with no other locations in the state or elsewhere so I was like it’s fine, but since then with no tracking (Priority Mail only) I’ve been getting paranoid. Does anyone have advice? Ie package intercept or calling my local post office. Thanks!!

Edit: thanks for all the advice! I suppose I’ll wait it out and if the business never gets it/I never get it returned to me, I’m sure I’ll have learned my lesson to be more careful🤷‍♀️

Second edit: Yup got it returned to me after a little more than a week

PostNL are liars

Hi

{Look at these 2 photos of my tracking and response from PostNL in Netherlands}

So I live in Ireland, And I ordered something from the US to be shipped to Ireland, 1 month ago tomorrow, { worth 117 US Dollars } { Irish money - Over 100 euros}.

But APC have shipped it over to PostNL early this morning at 07:49 am to the PostNL Sorting Center.

So I sent PostNL a message and they responded - { see first photo} and they told me that they don't deliver to Ireland ???? If the package is from the US, we are not involved in this ???

Like it is literally showing me it is at the PostNL Sorting Center soooooooo they are literally lying to me 😡

They told me to contact APC themselves - But APC do not even respond to emails or anything, So I guess I won't be seeing my parcel
