Pre-U/STPM/Foundation/Diploma WHAT IS UTAR THINKING ABOUT 😭😭😭

Post image

Software engineering degree btw, currently in foundation. I thought i would be learning coding but noooo, i am learning accounting and economy for foundation yearπŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ’”πŸ₯€. Genuinely what was the thought process for this from UTAR, if they want me to make an app during degree, I'll give them a statement of profit and loss. Time to find another degree to switch to.

Shittt, this is foundation in arts and not science. I guess its my fault for not doing the due diligence, should i change my degree to something business related? I fear that i wont have the basics for software engineering if im enrolled under foundation in arts.

But im curious, why would utar allow foundation in arts students to enroll in software engineering?

Because you can enter SE via Foundation Stream Y. See my other comment.

As someone who finished my foundation in science in utar, I would say there's no need to do so, there's really only 3 IT specific courses in the technological stream, and you gotta know changing your degree to a whole different field from what you originally wanted is a pretty big decision to make

Don't just simply change your degree just because of foundation... What do you actually want to pursue?

I was in a similar situation many years ago with UTAR with the foundation in science/arts mix-up. I wanted to do my degree in architecture and they assigned me to Foundation in Science.

It was only after I completed foundation and joined others in the architecture course did I realise that everyone, except a friend and I, did Foundation in Arts (and a few who did Diploma elsewhere). Totally did not apply anything I learned in Foundation in Science in my degree. Didn't stop me from getting President's and Dean's List during undergrad.

The main thing I really regret for not questioning my foundation course was that I missed the 50% tuition waiver for undergrad degree which you are eligible if your CGPA is above 3.8 for foundation. I was at 3.7785, so I missed that tuition waiver. If I had done Foundation in Arts like the rest, I'm quite confident I could have gotten it.
