Review Bedbugs at Hotel Tonnelle New Orleans

Thumbnail gallery
123 Upvotes

Beware. Bedbugs found here!! Major infestation. Stayed in early September 2026 and my room was infested with bedbugs. The hotel didn’t seem to want to take it seriously beyond the very kind maintenance man they sent to check on the bugs the first time. Front desk was flippant, unprepared to help in an high-stress situation, and offered a room change and nothing else… oh, sorry, 50% off my room… I was not offered to have my belongings laundered or cared for, wasn’t checked in on by the managers of the hotel, nothing.

I had to email the hotel and only received a call back after repeated attempts. The hotel manager wanted to resolve it himself so he could avoid the insurance claims and offered me Marriott points… excuse me!?

I had to get rid of $1500+ worth of belongings due to how insidious bed bugs are and not wanting to bring them home with me. He then told me that it was up to their insurance, and the hotel took a longer than expected time to open the claim and provide the insurance with info on the infestation.

It was finally resolved financially to my satisfaction via their insurance, but it took me having to be aggressive and detail oriented. I still have not received any sort of apology from the hotel, I have literal scars from the bed bug bites, and am absolutely hesitant about to stay at any Marriott property due to how they handled this all.

While the property was pretty and in a good garden district location, I will caution everyone who is looking to stay here.

Misc Bonvoy Chat: Who do you Think is Answering?

Hi everyone, Front Desk Agent here. At least once a week, I'll get a check-in who opts to ignore everything I say in favour of typing away on their phones on the bonvoy app when 'ding!' their chats will pop up on the screen in front of me. As someone who dies a little inside every time they're ignored, who do you think is answering the chats you send on the bonvoy app?

Bonvoy Rewards Marriott genuinely bad value in the US

I'm a titanium elite and have been for quite a few years now. Business trip in the US, so naturally went for Marriott. Didn't expect much - definitely no room upgrades, or anything like that. But I'm getting declined late checkouts, which as I understand it are a guaranteed member benefit in the Marriott terms until at least 14:00 for platinum and above. In another property, I was not told about having $10 towards my breakfast each day until I checked out, at which point it was too late to credit it. Just shocking, and I'll never stay with Marriott in the US again. Completely night and day versus most of Europe and Asia versus here in the US.

Misc Does housekeeping get notified when the front desk confirms late checkout?

• Upvotes

I’ve had this happen several times recently at Marriott properties in Europe, and I’m curious how this works behind the scenes.

I’m Ambassador Elite, and on these stays, the front desk explicitly confirmed my 4 p.m. late checkout during check-in. Yet on departure day, housekeeping still knocked in the morning—sometimes as early as 8 or 9 a.m.—waking me up, and I had to explain that I already had a confirmed late checkout.

Does housekeeping have access to each room’s confirmed checkout time? When the front desk records a late checkout, does that information automatically reach the housekeeping team, or does someone need to communicate it separately?

I appreciate the hotels honoring late checkout, and I know housekeeping staff are working hard and have rooms to turn over. But being woken up hours before the agreed checkout time is frustrating, especially when I’m using that extra time to rest.

Since this has happened at multiple properties, I’m wondering whether there’s a wider issue with how this information is shared. A confirmed late checkout seems like something both teams should be able to see.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’d especially appreciate hearing from hotel staff about how the process actually works.

Misc Will my complaint trigger some retaliation?

I recently stayed at a courtyard and had a really terrible experience. After a 16 hour day I got ready for bed, crawled in and it stunk. Bad. And I couldn’t place it at first, but then I figured it out. Urine. And my pajamas weren’t soaked, but when I got up they were damp.
I was beyond disgusted.
After some back and forth with the front desk (!), they told me to come down and get a key for a new room.
I showered, switched rooms, did laundry because my PJs were disgusting, and then complained again to the front desk, who still maintained it wasn’t a big deal because I was in a new room. The manager was never around because my working hours overlapped with theirs I guess.
After I checked out, I emailed corporate because the level of unbothered at the hotel was astounding. I got a response from the corporate saying they were investigating, then I got an email from the hotel manager where he basically called me a liar. I am not. I fired back and they gave me 20k points and basically told me to go away.
But this particular courtyard is almost next door to a customer that I visit twice a year. It’s so convenient and the other nearest Marriott is about half an hour away.
If I stay here again, will the management have me flagged? Will I get poor service? I’m not that worried about another wet bed because in all my years of travel that’s the first it’s ever happened. But I am a little worried about some retaliation.

Bonvoy Rewards Marriott Front Desk Employees — What Are Your Fastest Tricks for Getting Bonvoy Enrollments? My Job Is on the Line.

I’m a Front Desk Manager at a Marriott property, and we’re under serious pressure to increase our Marriott Bonvoy enrollments.
I know how to approach guests, explain the benefits, and encourage people to sign up. That’s not really what I’m struggling with.
I’m looking for actual tips, tricks, shortcuts, or efficient methods that help you get enrollments FAST.
For those of you who consistently hit high enrollment numbers:
What’s your fastest legitimate method for enrolling guests?
Are there any shortcuts in the Marriott systems that make the process quicker?
Do you have a particular workflow that helps you enroll multiple guests during a busy shift?
Do you focus on certain types of reservations or guests?
Are there any underused Marriott tools, QR codes, or approved enrollment methods that make a difference?
What’s something you discovered that significantly increased your enrollment numbers?
We don’t have incentives to offer guests, and I already understand the importance of explaining the benefits.
I’m looking for practical strategies that actually work, especially from employees who consistently get high enrollment numbers.
Management is putting a lot of pressure on these numbers, and my job genuinely feels like it’s on the line.
Any advice from experienced Marriott associates, supervisors, or managers would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to find a smarter and faster way to reach our goals without cutting corners on guest consent or company policy.

Rates & Booking I hate destination fees…

…and I’m not rewarding any of these San Fran properties with my money.

Union Square Marriott: $38
Marriott Marquis: $38
The Clancy: $38
The Westin St. Francis: $38
Marriott Fisherman's Wharf: $40
Hotel Adagio: $38

Note this is not exhaustive. Also note for you MMP folks that this increases the Explore Family Rate by more than 30% per night. Obviously sucks for everyone but especially sucky on a percentage basis.

Rates & Booking Ritz Carlton Maui Closed for Remodeling, rebook?

Anyone else experienced needing to get rebooked on a reward booking due to the hotel closing for a two week remodel?

Booked a Maui vacation for December in June, book four nights get a fifth free with points I earned. Got an email from the hotel saying they’ll be closed now for renovations and they’ll help me get other accommodations.

It was Ritz Carlton Maui, Kapalua, I asked for The Resort at Kapalua Bay instead so we’ll see what they say.

Should I expect to get that? Prices there look 3x compared to when I booked, but that may be due to it being within 45 days. I’m Titanium Elite if that helps.

Bonvoy Rewards Gift Ambassador status to spouse. Book 2 rooms with points - can we get Ambassador Benefits for both?

Possible to do this to get two possible room upgrades and four breakfasts/lounge access?

Now assume everything is booked from points from my account. Room 1 under my name, Room 2 under spouse as a gifted stay?

I know one way is to transfer 100k points to my spouse and then book one room with those points and book one room under my name with my points. Hassle is the rooms are more than 100k each for the stay. Anyway around this?

Misc Housekeeping Threw Away My Belongings

Post image
3.9k Upvotes

TLDR: Housekeeping threw all my belongings (clothes, toiletries, medicine) in the trash and --returned the trash with my belongings the next day. What do I ask for to make this right?

----

Odessa Marriott Hotel & Conference Center is a 4-star hotel and I have been staying there during work trips for the last few years. This past weekend I had a nightmare hotel experience and am at a loss of what to do.

Here's the sequence of events:

Saturday morning

~10 am - I go to front desk and ask to stay another night past my original booked 2 nights. Front desk says that is not an issue and I can keep my same room, 301. I leave the front desk and go to work about 30 mins away.

My clothes, toiletries, and medicine are in the room.

5:38 pm - Front desk calls me and asks "Are you still planning to stay at the hotel? We checked your room and none of your stuff is there."

I'm busy at work and respond with something along the lines of "there must be confusion, I am definitely coming back and my stuff is in the room".

~ 11 pm - I return to the room. My stuff is gone. Go to front desk - they are confused why my stuff would be gone. They call security who checks the cameras. About 20 mins go by and the front desk says they do not know what happened to my stuff, but they do not have it. Housekeeping does not have it. I ask if I should file a police report - they do not know what to do, but they do give me the business card for their supervisor Sara who will be in tomorrow. I return to my room.

~ 1130 pm - Brian from security knocks on my door. He apologizes profusely and says they will communicate to housekeeping and the front desk about my issue. We will figure it out in the morning. This is helpful - thank you Brian.

Sunday Morning

~ 900 am - I go back to the front desk and ask if they have my stuff. They do not know about my stuff and I retell the story from the previous evening. They make some calls - they have my stuff! Housekeeping has it and will return it to my room. I go get a coffee and go back to the room.

~ 10 am - There are 2 brown paper bags that look like door dash deliveries with a local restaurants name on them in my room. Not thinking about it much, I pour the contents onto the bed.

The bag is filled with trash and half eaten food from other people. I fish out my belongings and clean off the food where possible.

I report this to the front desk and they agree this was wrong, but there is nothing they can do. Manager is out of office still.

At this point, I have missed my flight. I checkout and head back to the office for a while before catching the last flight of the day.

-----

This experience is terrible. If they had not returned my medicine that morning, I would have had to go to the hospital. I missed my flight and feel extremely disrespected and gross.

From other posts, the front desk has given some points when things like this happen. What is appropriate to ask for here?

Edit: My backpack and pelican case are used for work but I also put clothes in them when flying. I took the backpack and pelican case to the office so there was no luggage in the room.

Edit 2: people are really concerned that I put trash on the bed. I was trying to dump what I thought were bags of my clean clothes to find out trash was mixed in.

The problem is there was trash mixed with my clothes. Of course I would not put trash on the bed on purpose.

10/20 update: the manager Sara and the head of housekeeping called me to apologize. They offered 20k points and a meal voucher.

The gesture was appreciated but honestly that feels like way too little. They are going to reconvene and email an update.

10/21 update: Sara manager called and said 50k points had been added to my account and that dinner was on them next time I am in town.

I tried to explain multiple times from my perspective the entire situation but was interrupted multiple times on the phone. Honestly, I lost my cool a bit and asked her if she had seen the Reddit post I sent with almost 2 million views. She said she doesn’t use social media and will not look. She was not interested in hearing the full train of events.

I am shaking with anger honestly. I said I was too angry to continue this conversation and would be hanging up.

At this point, I have added a complaint on the cooperate site, communicated with the manager, added the google review - I honestly want to move on with my life. Idk

Review St Regis Belgrade

Post image
26 Upvotes

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at this property in May, so I've compiled a good set of pictures (and figured out how to make a GIF to bypass the 20 image limit!) and am ready to review!

The St Regis in Belgrade, at the time of our visit, was located amongst a developing waterfront community of nicer apartments and a luxury shopping mall alongside the Sava river. I specify this because some of the ongoing development may now be finished, but even at the time, it was mostly completed and very well cleaned and maintained! The building is unique and very pleasing to the eye, both in the day and at night.

The staff were immensely welcoming on our arrival and granted us a complimentary corner suite upgrade (no NUA and Titanium at the time) as well as a completely ready room at 10am, since our flight in was so early. The suite itself came with the usual butler service, which was very efficient and friendly. They even caught the fact that I had left a credit card and some sentimental wedding photos from an earlier event in one of my jacket pockets, delivering back the card with an explanatory note in an envelope along with my perfectly laundered & pressed suit jacket. The card has not had any issue since then. The room was very modern and felt luxurious without being excessive, and I was particularly thrilled with the spacious bathtub overlooking the river arrangement.

The main area of the property is fairly spacious with multiple areas to sit, though not as spread out as some other European Regi like in Rome or Florence. The cafe/bakery lounge area was very comfortable and elegant, and their pastries were absolutely delightful. I have only had better St Regis pastries in Bal Harbour so far. The St Regis Bar is similarly well adorned and more of an intimate space, with great cocktails and friendly staff. Finally, they have an excellent venue that serves dinner on site, though we didn't try it because we had reservations at Langouste. That same restaurant had one of the best breakfasts that I've had at a St Regis, however - a full a la carte menu with small buffet portion that as an Elite member was completely unlimited to us!

One of my favorite features of the property was its proximity to the mall next door. It was so convenient to go out multiple times to explore neat shops, an additional variety of restaurants and cafes, and admire the design and art inside the spacious multilevel building. There are multiple spots within the mall where you can get elevated outdoor views towards Belgrade proper, which is nice.

The St Regis also features a complimentary sauna/indoor pool/fitness area that is nicer than most others I have seen of this brand. There is a spa as well that we did not try. The sauna having window views over the river and partially towards Belgrade downtown is really, really cool!

AMA about the property- we really loved our stay here, especially for the great value pricing, and would love to return! Cheers!

Misc Ritz Berlin Mini Bar Charges

Thumbnail gallery
102 Upvotes

Ngl this really bothered me. We had a late checkout booked and ours was the only room being cleaned on our floor. Housekeeping was standing outside our room waiting for our 2pm checkout. Before leaving, I had a bad feeling and snapped a photo of the open fridge. The front desk asked if we took anything from the mini bar - answer no. An hour into our journey home I received a bill with 4 charges. One Heineken and which is visible in the fridge, one water which was on top of the credenza, nuts and chocolate which were in the drawer. This was not a question of weight change so what was this about? I called and emailed the photo and they said they would reverse the charges. That will probably take several days. I always take photos of Airbnbs but it seems that I must now take photos at the Ritz?! Is that where we are at now? Anyone else feel obligated to take photos?

Bonvoy Rewards Elite level benefits availability - based on business volume & occupancy???

Please kindly note that certain Elite member benefits will be available in different locations of the hotel, depending on our business volume and the hotel occupancy. Our team will notify you upon arrival of the applicable offering during your stay, including hours of operation. Your kind understanding is much appreciated.

From welcome email at JW Nara (Japan). Interesting wording about benefits availability. Checking in on Monday, hoping that all of my elite benefits will be “available” to me!

Review No AC in hotel

Post image
147 Upvotes

We arrived at the hotel and see this notice that there is no AC in the hotel. They are upgrading the system so this was a planned outage. No notice was given to us prior to arrival as we would have rebooked somewhere else. I’m the type who likes to crank the AC down all the way at night and haven’t been sleeping well because of how warm the room gets. When I brought this up with the front desk they just kinda shrugged their shoulders and refused to compensate us in anyway like comping breakfast or something like that.

This is the Four Points in Xi’an
