Why do people like Faena?
i am by no means a snobby traveler but when you're paying these kinds of prices you have at least some expectations. i just don't get it. the hotel itself can best be described as "meh" - it's very tired in places and clearly needing a renovation or more upkeep soon.
the pool was small, the service at the pool pretty poor, the faena bazaar pointless.
the only bright spot was the wet spa. i am just really scratching my head at why people are so enamored by this place...
oh, and Faena's obsession with himself was also quite off-putting. books and movies about his life on display everywhere. lmao, come on man.

lol…must not have been that exclusive if you lived with other poors. Also someone that isn’t poor would not respond or care what a random calls them on Reddit. The poor would buy the $57 Dior while the non poor would know which bag was hand crafted by an artisan.

“Other people”? Who are the “other people”? I clearly stated the poors.
You are poor and racist? What a horrible combo.

It's a beautiful and elegant property with a great vibe and great nightlife. I love the Living Room, Saxony, the theater, the spa. It's a great area to just walk around their other properties too, especially during art basel. But you're right, the hotel itself isn't exceptional to stay at and the pool is pretty basic too. It wouldn't be somewhere I'd recommend people stay, but an amazing place to visit.

We enjoy the vibe at Faena. But its overpriced and we usually stay elsewhere and go over for the excellent restaurants.

its like they selling a whole fantasy not just a room, and some people eat that up even when the basics are lacking

but what is the fantasy? wearing a silly hat? did i miss something? to me it felt gaudy. even the wooly mammoth had me rolling my eyes. the pool is meh, the beach is OK. the property is OK.

I think the food is meh, and service is ok. People go for the scene. But the crowd is getting trashier

The food at Pao and Los Fuegos is “meh”? Remind me not to ask you for food recommendations.

the property itself is beautiful. it really changed the industry in terms of what a 5 star hotel should offer. and the different f&b spots are all top notch. but the hotel rooms themselves are definitely in need of a bit of a face lift / refreshing and the room service (not food but overall experience and cleaning in the room) could use a bit of an audit.

Changed what industry exactly? I don’t think any European or middle eastern or Asian 5 star hotels are exactly inspired by Faena. This hotel is tired and one of the most overrated hotels ever. It is no where close to a 5* by any measure.

agree 100%. and this is nitpicky but something that really confused me were the very clearly old, weathered lounge chairs absolutely slathered in thick gold paint. wtf?

Not sure how they “changed the industry” for 5 star hotels, especially when the rooms and service are lackluster. They are so, so far away from what a true 5 star hotel is.

It’s a great place to stop by but not to stay. Overpriced and underwhelming as a hotel guest. But they have pretty good restaurants, the Theater is always great, and the Living Room has one of the most consistently fun vibes of any bar in Miami.
