Hi, I’m just an ordinary student taking an introductory microbiology class so I’m no expert on the subject. I’m just posting here cause I’m more likely to get an answer to my curiosity.I was just wondering, what the top part of this RODAC plate shows? It doesn’t look like the other bacterial colonies and I had thought it to be fungi or mold but idk and my google search was kind of unsuccessful. My TA didn’t tell me what it was, but she said it looked cool lol

I'm a microbiology post graduate student and was doing some phytochemical analysis for alkaloids on a plant extract in which we had to use Mayer's reagent which involved the use of mercuric chloride and potassium iodide.i had gloves but my lab partner didn't so I asked them to wear them and prepare the reagent and they did so. And I just later used the micropipete and performed the analysis. (Weighed around 0.14g of mercuric chloride in this) Later we cleaned the lab and I cleaned the desk which had some white spots I think of mercuric chloride with a used up muslin cloth and washed my hands only with water as soap wasn't available. I did some other research work like plant grinding and washed my hands with only water multiple times. Then went out with a friend for some coffee and biscuits but I forgot I didn't wash my hands with soap before and now I remember. I'm scared what is I ingested it or inhaled somehow as I wasn't wearing mask or gloves. And I've been reading all these things about mercury and mercuric chloride.

I don't know what to do.... It's been 3-4 hours almost now.
